I couldn’t find a thread for Shannon Nye of Elko who was found on October 21 in the area of Coal Mine Canyon. To my knowledge, the person who killed her has not been identified. It’s not a stretch to consider TD, who lived in Elko at some point, for this.

The last ping for Naomi's phone was 10 minutes from abduction location, close to Hwy 80 route to Lovelock. Coal Canyon Road is just North of Lovelock. He probably drove Hwy 80 to return to Fernley, as he wouldn't want someone in Fallon to recognize him driving the wrong vehicle.
Do you think he drove Naomi's car during that entire time and returned it after he murdered her? It seems like it would be a real risk to do that, besides leaving DNA evidence behind, if the car broke down he'd be immediately caught. Although that is what he did after the murder in Ukiah, the victim was put into a car, driven to another site, buried off the side of the road, then the victim's vehicle was taken somewhere else and set on fire.

This is just a reply to the thread. I haven't caught up on all the posts yet.
Personally, I tend to believe someone "very" close to TD gave up the tip.
He is said by many to be a bit of a neat freak so I am not thinking he left a large amount of "evidence" behind.
There's been a large reward. Maybe someone claimed it?
Now it'll be tricky to tie this all together.
The cause of death is known yet undisclosed.
In my experience with missing people, there are so many unknown and unclaimed, unidentified in that large area TD had access to.
Whether he's responsible for any of them, and whether he has a partner in this crime, hopefully we will find out soon.
All of my thoughts are with her family.

I really want TD charged with the death penalty. He stole Naomi's life. A bright future.

So what if it costs a ton of money? And no one has been put to death in Nevada for over a decade. He should be as miserable as possible. JMO.

So many guys go to prison, and they get buddies, treat it like some sort of fraternity gathering, without beer.

I just realized that Iron Mine Road and Coal Canyon Road is the same road.

The first route takes him through Fallon. He doesn't want anyone in Fallon to recognize him in Naomi's car.

Leaving Hwy 80 on Coal Canyon Road and returning the same way - avoid Fallon. The name of the road changes farther South to Iron Mine Road.

This is most likely the route. I think he first saw her at Fox Peak Station and learned her routine by following her to Walmart. He parked his truck near Lowes, approached Walmart from the dirt patch (also the direction of the homeless camp), got into her car and headed straight North past Lovelock.

The red line is the route I think he took from Walmart to Route 80. The yellow line is the route I think he took to go home.

It seems like he had everything planned, from whose vehicle to take, where to hide his truck, to how to avoid cameras, which routes to take, where to put the body, how to get home.

It's almost as though he didn't figure out that there are cameras at Sherwin-Williams.

I do. She was abducted at 5 AM. It was dark. The photo of his truck is taken at some time where the shadows are long when he's driving East - leaving the scene of the crime. That means that his truck left the area within 2 hours of sunset (6 PM).

Because of the time difference between 5 AM when she was abducted in her car, until hours later that her car was abandoned less than a mile away, I believe she was deceased before her car was abandoned. I also believe that her car was used throughout the abduction.

It's a good question - wasn't he worried about DNA like hair, or was he wearing a toque, hoodie, mask, gloves.

This is a DIFFERENT Coal Mine Canyon, in Elko County.

It's more than about 100 miles from the Coal Mine Canyon in Pershing/Churchill county.

I wonder if there are any cameras on the highways there? That might have been a tool used by LEO.

There are a lot of road cameras here, to check road conditions.

I truly believe that he would have attacked anyone at whatever time he felt like it. He is an evil person and everywhere he went and everyone he met was in danger. She was his victim but it was her life and those moments should not define how she was as a person. What happened to Naomi could have happened in an instant. RIP Naomi.

Brian Entin on News Nation just reported that she was found about 60 miles from Walmart, if you want to add that to your calculations Otto.

The body location has to be based on phone signal, truck GPS, or the suspect revealed the location.

I don't believe that he started abducting and murdering young women at age 41, so I think he has gotten away with doing this in the past. Because he got away with it, he was less cautious. I think he kept his phone turned on during the abduction and murder because he never expected that his truck would be connected with Naomi.
I agree it seems like some type of gps data, since LE appear to have found the gravesite fairly quickly, and apparently without a massive police search.

But I notice he was arrested on Fri the 25th, yet the press release states investigators went to the area on Tues the 29th.

I think if it was simple phone tracking or vehicle gps, they'd have been there within hours, not days. The FBI would drop everything to retrieve that data asap.

I also wonder, if gps data proved him to have been in the location of her grave any time after her abduction, wouldn't he be charged with her murder by now? Why would LE wait for more evidence?

Possibly LE were checking every site he'd been to, from well before her abduction... places he'd visited that made no sense why he'd go there.

IMO, if he'd told them where to find her himself, LE would have announced he was charged with her murder when they released the news that her remains were found.

That's the interesting question - he would attack almost anyone that met his preferences for victim. A 41 year old man did not suddenly decide to start abducting and murdering young women and girls at his age. He thought about this when he was much younger. He was in prison until roughly 2012. He was on probation for roughly 2 years.

From 2014 until now, there could be other missing girls and young women related to Troy Driver. It's possible that they were listed by police as "runaways", but years later the runaway has not surfaced. He might have been more careful in the beginning to target down and out teenagers, perhaps presenting himself as younger than he is.

I'm most curious about missing persons within a 100 mile radius of places he lived in 2015 (Elko), 2016 (Elko?), 2020 and 2021 (Fallon?). I believe that serial murderers have a longer time between murders in the beginning, and a shorter time as they become more experienced in abduction and murder. I also think that their abductions are closer to home over time, and the body is always left farther away than home and abduction site.

Sounds like it's possible that he led police to the location of her body. That would certainly explain why she was found so quickly. Use of the term "gravesite" leaves me understanding that she was somewhat buried, shallow grave at best.

Perhaps paperwork takes time. He's already in custody, and if he bailed out he would immediately be re-arrested. There's no urgency to add murder to kidnapping.

Maybe he made a deal to reveal body location in exchange for reduced sentencing possibilities.

I’m not being a Websleuther now, simply a woman who has been very sad over Naomi and her family. They were so desperate and determined to find her, steadfastly holding onto Naomi coming back to them alive.
Last night I didn’t sleep at all, as I wondered what Naomi’s last hours of life might have been like. How very terrified she must have been. To have died alone in the grips of an insane ugly predator … Very far from the comfort of her home and from everyone that loved her so very deeply.
Such terrifying fear.

Possibly, but I'm not really sure there is much incentive there. I suppose LE could take the death penalty off the table, in exchange for LWOP, but the state of Nevada hasn't executed anyone since 2006, so not really sure that leaves a lot of reason to barter the death penalty down. I can't see them offering him anything less than LWOP, though I suppose I could be surprised. I am not sure if it was phone pings, telematics, or a tip from a "very" close informant, who may also have tipped the location of the truck, for all we know, but I doubt he gave up her location. He didn't do it at 17, and his time in prison has probably only made him harder, not softer. JMO
