The man who drove a Cybertruck that exploded outside of a Vegas hotel identified as Matthew Livelsberger, an Army veteran from Colorado, a law enforcement source told NewsNation. He served at the same military base as the terrorist who drove into a crowd in New Orleans.

Now Livelsberger’s loved ones are speaking out to share their shock and to reveal that the Army man—reportedly based in Germany, but back stateside on leave—had not spoken to his wife in “several days.”

That’s according to a CBS report, which cited anonymous relatives of the 37-year-old Special Forces veteran. Those loved ones added that they knew Livelsberger had rented a Cybertruck in Colorado recently—something authorities said the suspect did through Turo, which works similarly to Airbnb for rental vehicles and was also used by the man who killed 15 in New Orleansearlier Wednesday.

I can't link anything, but hope this stands because I saw comments on FB posts where her friends have commented and said she is not married to him, has moved on and has a kid/s with someone else. So it seems that SL FB profile is his first wife and they are no longer married... maybe a FB she abandoned when they split?

Both attackers spent time in Afghanistan. A lot of soldiers who spent time there, even in non-combat roles, were not the same when they came back.

There may be a connection between the two cases, but it looks like a tenuous connection at best.

This bombing seems to be a symbolic gesture that has accomplished very little.

There is just so much information and study of what has happened to our returning vets. We all know them. Good friends. But so many really don't know what they were doing there.... moo of course

I think this is going to wind up being some suicidal guy who wanted to make a statement. That vehicle is probably the worst one you could possibly use if the goal was to kill people; its design limits blast radius.

Maybe there is though, and we just haven’t heard about it.

I haven't heard anybody suggest that Matt Livelsberger may have been the victim here. I've seen TV shows where the bomb was strapped to the victim and he was forced to commit terrorist acts or his family would be killed. He had a newborn baby. Most fathers would do anything to protect their children.

I was posted he talked to his mom about going to Vegas. Maybe in his mind he believed this act was protecting his newborn.

I'm kinda of skimming the thread, but wondering if he made any attempt to get out of the vehicle before it exploded.

My heart breaks for his family. I'm glad he didn't hurt anyone else.

I personally compared him to the guy who lit himself on fire.

I think he was suicidal. He wanted to "go out in style" and "take some people with him". He decided on a relationship that was "in the news". (Musk-Trump) This would guarantee this would be all over the news. (Like the guy who lit himself on fire)
Fortunately, the "taking people with him" failed.
He did succeed in "going out in style".
