Maybe? But that doesn't make sense to me.

There's no way a civil war could be started these days. I mean, the US military against terrorist cells and individuals?

A guerrilla war, now that's another possibility.

But that possibility seems so farfetched that it can't be the reason.
Perhaps civil war was the wrong identifier but maybe the kind of civil unrest that occurred between the IRA and the British. Sectarian violence with random bombings and assassinations of certain individuals because of different ideologies.

Monday, October 23rd:
*Bench Trial continues (Day 15) (@ 10am ET) – NY - New York vs. Donald J. Trump (76/now 77), Donald Trump, Jr. (45) & Eric Trump (38/now 39) & the Trump Organization, Inc. (Allen Weisselberg (75/now 76) & Jeffrey McConney) are being sued by Letitia James, the New York Attorney General, who is leading a civil investigation (which cannot result in criminal charges filed on 9/21/22) & has spent years looking at whether the company committed various acts of fraud over several decades. In the civil case, Ms. James has filed a lawsuit against Trump & two of his children accusing them of "astounding" fraud & deception.
New York is seeking $250 million in financial penalties & asked the court to ban Trump, Donald Trump Jr. & Eric Trump from serving as an officer or director in any corporation registered or licensed in New York. James also requested the court ban the former president & his business from acquiring real estate in New York or from applying for loans from any New York financial institution for five years. James's civil case accuses Trump of lying from 2011 to 2021 about asset values at the Trump Organization, as well as his own net worth, in order to obtain better terms from lenders & insurers.
Lawsuit against: Donald John Trump, Donald Trump, Jr, Eric Trump, Allen Weisselberg, Jeffrey McConney, The Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust, The Trump Organization, Inc., Trump Organization LLC, DJT Holdings LLC, DJT Holinds Managing Memer, Trump Endeavor 12 LLC, 401 North Wabash Venture LLC, Trump Old Post of Fice LLC, 40 Wall Street LLC & Seven Springs LLC.
All charges against Ivanka Trump were dismissed in June, 2023.
Bench Trial began on 10/2/23. (could last until 12/22/23 per Judge).
The lawsuit’s remaining 6 counts allege similar acts of fraud (that Trump inflated his assets on statements of financial condition that he submitted to banks & insurers for personal gain).
Judge Arthur F. Engoron presiding / NY State Attorney General Leticia James & senior enforcement counsel Kevin Wallace,
Defense attorney Christopher Kise & Jesus Suarez & Alina Habba for Trump, Weisselberg & the rest of the defendants for Trump Org. / Clifford Robert of Robert & Robert PLLC for Donald, Jr. & Eric.

10/20/23 Update: Decision +Order on Motion for Pro Hac Vice. Hereby granted that Ivan Feris, Jr. & Jennifer M. Hernandez may appear & participate in this action on behalf of defendants the DJ Trump Revocable Trust, DJT Holdings LLC, DJT Holdings Managing Member LLC, Trump Endeavor 12 LLC, 401 N. Wabash Venture LLC, Trump Old Post Office LLC, 40 Wall Street LLC & Seven Springs.
10/20/23 Update: *NY Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron tore into Trump on Friday for failing to delete a post attacking his clerk on his campaign page, weeks after the imposition of a gag order (ordered on 10/3/23). “I learned that the subject offending post was never removed from the donaldjtrump.com & in fact, has been on the website for the past 17 days,” Judge Engoron remarked from the bench, asking why Trump shouldn’t face “serious sanctions” for his "blatant violation of the gag order," such as fines or “possibly imprisoning him.” Trump's attorney Christopher Kise described the development as an "inadvertent" result of the crossposting of his social media messages on his website. After Trump's lawyers provided their account of what transpired, Engoron & law clerk Greenfield whispered to each other & left the development on a cliffhanger. Engoron said he would take the matter "under advisement."
*A motion filed late Thursday, 10/19/23 by Ivanka Trump that seeks to quash three subpoenas that would compel her to testify in the trial. A lawyer for the attorney general's office indicated they do not plan to request Judge Arthur Engoron hold Ivanka Trump in contempt. They instead plan to file a motion today to compel her to appear in court, according to the email.
*Defense lawyer Clifford Robert filed a letter late Thursday, 10/19/23 asking Judge Engoron to strike testimony from Trump Org. executive Patrick Birney about an alleged "scheme" to pump Trump's net worth.
10/20/23 Friday, Bench Trial Day 14: State witness: Former Trump Org. vice president Raymond Flores. Will return Monday to finish his testimony.

Trump fined $5,000 for violating his gag order. Justice Engoron did *not* hold him in contempt & noted it was "first time" violation & credited Trump's attorney's arguments that it was "inadvertent." "Make no mistake: future violations, whether intentional or unintentional," will lead to "far more severe sanctions," including "possibly imprisoning" Trump.
Bench trial continues on Monday, 10/23/23.

snipped and bolded by me ^^

Yesterday something popped out at me while reading about Australian wealthy businessman Pratt and his pay-for-access encounters with Trump.

I read that Pratt is married to an American woman whose business did the catering at the Trump-operated skating rink in Central Park. That stuck out to me because Allen Weisselberg's son Barry managed the skating rink.

Barry's salary for managing a skating rink (that's open seasonally) was $200,000 plus $40,000 bonus. Nice work, if you can get it. He also received an apartment on swanky Central Park South and the tuition paid for his children's private school.

FWIW, the skating rink and carousel are cash businesses. I don't know about this particular business, but cash businesses can be a mechanism to hide flow of money if someone were inclined to do such a thing.

Apparently it was when the prosecution was looking into son Barry that father Allen decided to cooperate. Eventually Allen ended up serving a few months at Rikers.

Just thought the connection to Pratt's wife interesting. I don't know when she got the catering job at the skating rink. (FWIW, I can't imagine the skating rink catering as an especially lucrative account on it's own. It was....a skating rink.)

The skating rink and carousel are no longer Trump-operated.

DAY 15: Donald Trump to see his ex-atty Michael Cohen testify against him in the AG’s fraud trial today. It was Cohen’s 2019 congressional testimony that Trump inflated/deflated his assets that launched this case. We’ll likely hear from (another) accounting witness first.

Former Trump Org VP Raymond Flores was supposed to be on the stand from Friday to finish his testimony per my notes. I do not know if he the accounting witness though.

Prior to adjournment, former Trump Organization vice president Raymond Flores testified about his limited role in reviewing Trump’s 2020 statement of financial condition and assessing the value of Trump’s golf courses.

Good morning from New York.Michael Cohen's face-off with Trump is at hand, and the two are likely to be in a room together for the first time in five years, after another witness's testimony wraps. We'll be covering the proceedings live,
@TheMessenger

Tomorrow, Donald Trump is expected to return to the civil fraud trial against him in New York as his former lawyer Michael Cohen takes the stand. What could go wrong? 1/
Well, for starters, Trump is already under a very narrow gag order in that case after an incendiary post about the judge’s law clerk. After the court learned that the post in question was still up last week, he fined Trump $5k. 2/
But he warned that future violations could result in much harsher penalties, including possible jail time. After that experience, how is Judge Engoron going to react if Trump goes after Cohen *as he is testifying*? 3/
There was also an episode last week during the testimony of appraiser Doug Larson, who provided Trump Org employees with some information about allegedly comparable properties but testified that he did not actually consult with them about the value of Trump Org assets. 4/
Trump’s reactions to Larson’s testimony were distracting, loud and in the AG’s team’s view, inappropriate. Judge Engoron “asked everyone to keep their voices down, ‘particularly if it's meant to influence the testimony.’” 5/
Again, Trump’s been warned. Now imagine how Judge Engoron might respond if Trump puts on a scowling, scoffing show while Cohen’s on the stand. To channel Pete Campbell, I’d expect some variation on “Not good, Bob!” before something worse than shushing happens. 6/
And no, it won’t be televised. But I’ll be there covering the trial day as it unfolds. Find me here and on

Trump defense lawyers Chris Kise, Clifford Robert, and Michael Farina have appealed Judge Arthur Engoron's decision to sanction and fine them for making frivolous arguments during pretrial arguments.

On the eve of trial, Engoron sanctioned the attorneys for their "continued reliance on bogus arguments," and ordered each to pay a $7,500 fine.

"Sanctions are the only way to impress upon defendants' attorneys the consequences of engaging in repetitive, frivolous motion practice after this Court," Engoron wrote in his decision at the time.

In their filing, the lawyers have asked an appeals court to determine if Engoron "committed errors of law and/or fact, abused its discretion, and/or acted in excess of its jurisdiction."

At the defense table, the seat reserved for lead counsel is not occupied by Chris Kise, who is seated to Trump’s left. Flanking him on the other side is Alina Habba. As the still photographers leave, Kise rises to his feet to object to trial continuing today. Why?

Because four members of the AG’s team tested positive for COVID last week and Kise says no one on their team was notified until Saturday night. Kise says many people in the courtroom are vulnerable to COVID, including him. 5/
He accuses the AG of dispensing with health protocols because “nothing else matters, except pursuing President Trump.” And he says yet another member of the AG’s staff tested positive this morning. He says it is “hypocritical” for the AG to forge ahead while maintaining the health and safety of all New Yorkers is critical. 6/

Does anyone know if the defense team is wearing masks today? (FWIW, Trump doesn't have to be in the courtroom. He could avoid covid exposure.)

I will say covid is still a thing in NYC. I got it in late summer. It was no joke and I'm vaxed and boosted.

Former President Donald Trump ripped his former personal attorney and "fixer" Michael Cohen as a "proven liar" and "felon" as he arrived to Manhattan court Tuesday morning for his ongoing civil fraud trial.

“Well, he’s a proven liar and a felon and served a lot of time for lying," Trump, 77, told reporters when asked about Cohen's anticipated testimony in New York Attorney General Letitia James' case.

"He’s a liar trying to get a better deal for himself, but it’s not going to work.”

Cohen, who served as Trump Org vice president and special counsel to Trump from 2006 to 2018, was sentenced to three years in prison following his guilty pleas to campaign finance violations, tax and bank fraud and lying to Congress in 2018.
Trump fraud trial live updates: Michael Cohen expected to testify

Donald Trump has arrived in court for the anticipated testimony of his former lawyer Michael Cohen.

New York Attorney General Letitia James is also attending the trial this morning.

James took her usual seat at the front of the courtroom's gallery, directly behind her team of lawyers at the counsel table.

The courtroom itself is nearly at capacity, with attendance matching the number of observers during the trial's opening statements.

Well, I feel about vaccines like I feel about tests. This is going to go away without a vaccine. It’s going to go away, and it’s — we’re not going to see it again, hopefully, after a period of time. You may have some — some flare-ups and I guess, you know, I would expect that. Sometime in the fall, you’ll have flare-ups maybe. Maybe not. But according to what a lot of people say, you probably will. We’ll be able to put them out. You may have some flare-ups next year, but eventually, it’s going to be gone. I mean, it’s going to be gone.
President Trump
May 8, 2020

Even without the vaccine, the pandemic’s going to end. It’s gonna run its course. It’s gonna end. They’ll go crazy. He said ‘without the vaccine’ — watch, it’ll be a headline tomorrow. These people are crazy. No, it’s running its course.

All of the times President Trump said Covid-19 will disappear

Apparently his team don't subscribe to his theory that Covid isn't really a concern. Shouldn't they have herd immunity by now?
