Just to be clear, she actually sent the same letter to two different offices.

http://www.uticaod.com/news/20170501/adam-yoder-testifies-letters-tried-to-frame-him-for-moms-death

About five months after his mother’s death, Adam Yoder would learn that someone was attempting to frame him for her murder by sending identical anonymous letters to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office. The letters alleged he was responsible for her death.

Some of what the letters said:

“If the toxin found in her was colchicine, Adam Yoder, her son, is responsible,” the letter stated. “He told me he did it. And moreover, he told me how and where he put the rest of the toxin.”

“He felt she was unfair to him, and he resented that; she should have helped him more,” the letter continued. “When I saw him a couple days ago, he appeared agitated and said he was the reason for her death and he wished he could take it back. Then he said he had bought a bottle of colchicine off online and put the toxin in one of her vitamins when he was over at his parents’ house.”

Thank you Curious and Alex for updating the case and for very interesting analyses and discussions!

I'm wondering if maybe Adam was the real target all along and whether Mary's poisoning was another 'trial run', possibly to get the amount right, as her first attempt to kill Adam had not worked out according to plan. Possible?

I really appreciate your thoughts, Elainera. You got me wondering if Adam was suppose to be the only real target from the start, and maybe she thought giving his mother a dose would only make her sick like it had Adam.
Yet, she could've used any drug to make people sick, by ordering this drug I think she must've intended to kill.

She's brazen and went through a great deal of trouble to order the drug. I have such a hard time accepting the extent of evil intentions within some people. Did she watch him be so sick and feel some kind of pay-back glee or power? She made sure she was right there while his mother was suffering and dying in the hospital.

Tried to order first from a different company, but the order didn't go through. The second time ordered from a another company that required rigid verification. Rosa Vargas from that company was in court today and testified.

Conley trial testimony: Who bought drug that killed victim?
http://www.uticaod.com/news/20170502/conley-trial-testimony-who-bought-drug-that-killed-victim

The Dec. 31, 2014, and Jan. 5, 2015, orders also used the same email for the order: [email protected], according to court proceedings.

Vargas testified Tuesday that no one answered the provided phone number, so she searched for the business online and found Chiropractic Family Care at the same provided address.

A “soft, sweet voice,” answered the phone and agreed to pay for the increased cost of the item, Vargas testified. With shipping, the colchicine cost $189.22.

The package containing the colchicine was delivered to Chiropractic Family Care in Whitesboro on Feb. 6, 2015.

I haven't gone through all the tweets yet. Very interesting so far, reading the tweets from the courtroom with Adam on the stand, I'm learning all kinds of details in the on/off history between Adam and Conley. Seems like she wouldn't let it be over.

Alexwood, I'm beginning to think you're quite brilliant and absolutely correct in pinpointing Conley's possible motive. Okay, let's speculate that she wanted to hurt Adam and frame him for murdering his mother, and her plan meant Mary had to die a horrible death. BUT her plan didn't seem to include having him caught and arrested because she didn't point the finger at him until it became necessary to protect herself. Sounds like Adam took his mother's death hard and she was right there watching the whole family suffer. Was that the pay back in her mind? My hesitation is that she didn't initially point at Adam to get him arrested until she was scared LE would look at her. What was her ultimate plan? Did it include some kind of monetary angle?

Adam Yoder on the stand

No! Not brilliant. It's just the process of elimination! I'm all over the place -- but, here's a couple of possibilities. FIrst off, it is odd that the son experienced the gastrointestinal upset, and it could well be that she tried to do him in first, out of a well-concealed but seething anger -- as others here have suggested. But, maybe she figured that her failed attempt was the only "shot" at him she would get. And, I really didn't know much about the on-again-off-again romance, other than it didn't seem to be working out in her favor. And I do think it enraged her. From what you have learned, thus far, the son was probably trying to keep a safe distance from her so as to sever the ties once and for all.

Then, she hatched a new plan. She turned her evil gaze upon poor Dr. Mary who she had ready access to, you have to admit. She devised a scheme to "get Adam back into her clutches" come hell or high-water. After the heinous deed was done, she reveled in her glory as the close family friend of the bereaved. They loved her dearly like one of their own. Heck, she had a ringside seat to participate in and watch all of the activities: the hospital room vigils, not only Dr. Mary's pain and suffering, but family's pain from seeing her suffer! The daughter who was the physician, trying to be strong, advising them from a physician's standpoint that it was time for them to come to terms with the inevitable death of their loved one. I think that there was a lot of hand-wringing and tears, I would imagine, and Conley was there to console them all -- but also to witness the fallout of her horrific act and how it empowered. She was in control.

It also strikes me as very strange that just when Dr. Mary finally seemed to be on the mend, all of a sudden she abruptly relapsed, and took a turn for the worst, and died! I would not put it past Conley to administer a "booster coup de gras" dose of that poison to Dr. Mary somehow, while she was maintaining a vigil at her bedside in the hospital. I think she could have done that! She is evil. Making herself useful, "helping" with the memorial celebration of Dr. Mary's life, anything she could do to be a comfort to the family at their time of need.

She wrote that lovely tribute (if not several -- can't remember) praising Dr. Mary as though she was going to canonize her for sainthood. She even handed over her own credit card to the son to pay for the funeral arrangements and memorial service. (Why not, she'd get it back, with interest -- after the wedding!)

She enjoyed watching the suffering that her havoc had wrought, and could be there to "comfort" the family -- especially the son. She knew that in his grief-stricken state, he would be putty in her hands. He'd marry Conley, out of gratitude for all of her care and concern, and thinking that Dr. Mary would approve of their union. The family may have lost Dr. Mary, but their sorrow was lessened by the addition of Conley to the family fold.

After all, Jodi -- er, I mean Conley -- was such a dear, dear friend -- not just an employee -- and they thought of her as a member of the family. I think the son succumbed to her comforting -- for a brief time -- but then (fortunately) snapped out of his reverie before it was too late. If he had married her, once the ink was dry on the marriage certificate, I think she'd have gone after her new father-in-law and poisoned him before he could remarry. She didn't want to take a chance that if he died, power and control of the estate would shift to his new wife. I think she was looking forward to her future as a merry (black) widowI.

Kaitlyn Conley, accused of killing boss, slept with victim's son after memorial, son says

Kaitlyn Conley, accused of killing her boss in 2015, comforted the victim's son - and had sex with him the night of his mother's memorial, according to reports of Adam Yoder's testimony today.

Adam Yoder testified late this afternoon, describing how he broke up with Conley several times, according to published reports. She would cry each time, and was upset when they broke up, he testified, according to media reports.

Their relationship, which had soured before Mary Yoder's death, became intimate again after Yoder died...

"Adam, did you kill your mother?" "No," Adam Yoder replied, emphatically.

Then, a bizarre exchange between Yoder and the prosecution, the significance of which was never made clear.

"Adam, are you familiar with the show that used to be on television called 'House'?" "Yes." "Did you ever watch 'House'?" "Yes." "Did you ever watch 'House' with Kaitlyn Conley?" "Yes."

Perhaps more Cerulean.

(Perhaps in the future will enter the color palette as "Colchicine blue.")

:silly:
Quick! File a patent appliation, before someone else beats you to it! (What are you waiting for? Godot???)
Much as I'd like to weigh-in on this one, I seem to be going colorblind!??? (Getting long of the tooth, I guess!)

And, BTW, is colchicine blue? (I'd look myself, but . . .. :sleuth: )

News channel video here. Follow the relationship of Adam and Conley and you'll see the RED FLAGS. This girl definitely reminds me of the manipulative Jodi Arias, only more educated and employable. Conley was trying to control Adam if you ask me.

I think it's got something to do with jealousy. He started dating someone else in the Spring 2015 and around that same time he became ill with the same symptoms that killed his mother about three months later. Then, he goes on a trip to see family July 15 to July 20, but doesn't tell Conley where he's going...hmm...that's when his mother get poisoned.

My own opinion with a cow that says MOO.

Wow, Curious! That is utterly:cow: CHILLING!! I had no idea about this. I think you nailed it!!!

THAT was her motive!!

We need to adopt this little micro-cow:cow:MOOas Websleuths' "Certified IMO" symbol

The girl Adam was dating is lucky to be alive ...

What was Mary's opinion regarding her son dating Conley? Did she disapprove of it? Did Conley believe that Adam did not commit fully to this relationship because of his mother's influence? Is that why she had to go? Money might have been a motive but I think this is also, if not foremost, a crime of smoldering passion, or rather obsession. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Possibly Mary simply had ideas and suggestions for her son that did not involve Conley and would lead him away from her, so she saw Mary as a continuous threat.

Getting rid of Mary accomplished two things in Conley's mind: Adam would not be influenced by her anymore (if that had been the case), and Adam would be more vulnerable and needy where she could jump in and comfort him, drawing him closer to her. It almost worked.

On Friday, two computer forensic experts from Utica College took the stand. One of them was tasked with analyzing more than 20 electronic devices from the case.

His analysis revealed the user of the receptionists' computer at Chiropractic Family Care had searched for articles regarding colchicine. Someone also used that computer to access a Gmail account used to purchase the toxin.

Conley's cellphone was also analyzed. The words 'poison' and 'toxin' were found in deleted messages, and 'colchicine' was typed into the phone at least three times.

This case has shades of Jodi Arias... very intriguing...the motive is perplexing.

“After the interview with Adam when we were done with that and finding the item in his car and what the letter stated, at that time, I asked Adam...I wanted him to leave the area,” said Nelson, adding, “I asked him to leave as soon as he could, and he did.”

As Nelson began to explain why he wanted Adam Yoder to leave town so suddenly, the defense objected and the judge sustained the objection, so his reasoning remained unknown.

Take a look at the Episode 3 summary. I copied some of it here including the incorrect spelling. This may be where she got the idea of using colchicine. Notice it's the boyfriend being poisoned.

Episode 3 - Occam's Razor
http://www.housediseases.com/episodes-1-44.html

Brief Plot Summary
Brandon is a young man who suddenly fell unconcious after having sex with his fiancee. He is suffering from an assortment of symptoms that don't seem to fit any one condition. After a sudden drop in his white blood cell levels and cardiac arrest during an exploratory surgery, House realizes that the pain Brandon mentioned in this fingertips is a symptom of colchicine poisoning which is the result of drug use; in Brandon's case ecstasy use.

Yes, the perplexing motive. :pullhair:

Where did Conley get $15K to lend to Adam? She must've realized his parents weren't that wealthy then. What logical motive did this school-smart girl have to actually plan and then order that colchicine that makes her think she'd come out ahead?

Sounds like she was the one doing so much to keep him close. Did she lend him money to stay in his life? Their relationship seems constant on and off. He tries to break it off and says she always cries. What'd she hope to gain when she ordered the colchicine?

Motive tied to her emotional state I'd guess. She either had dreamy dreams he'd marry her someday and after his mother died that he came back. Yes, as Elainera asked, what did Dr. Mary think of the relationship? But go back further to why she ordered that drug? Was she just plain seething angry then and it was time for pay back after the holidays of December 2014.

Killers don't have to make sense and it's possible she had no other motive than to hurt him and his family.

Conley and Adam had some renewed affection after his mother died in July, but it didn't last long. I noted last week that Conley told the investigator when she went in for questioning in Dec 2015 that she hadn't seen Adam since Sept. 21, 2015. The anonymous letter framing him was sent in Nov 2015.
