Excellent question... IMO the investigation was not as thorough as it could have been.

Investigators asked W. Yoder to bring Mary's supplements from CFC to the ME (or LE) iirc. Then Adam brought the almond milk to the ME. A defense lawyer's dream. It looks like at first, LE did not believe a crime had occurred.
