Hi and Welcome!
I am glad the judge denied it. It is too serious of a crime and all those present that night/day should stay local for questioning.

As I've said, MG had nothing to do with it. Now that's all out in the open and the DA can work on gathering enough evidence to charge the person who committed this murder. Hopefully, before he makes bail. Which seems SO ironic. MG can't go on a FAMILY vacation, but JR can get released from jail to do lord knows what and go lord knows where....????

MG didn't take anything. He changed his clothes. He left HIS clothes there. That's it.

Hi Everyone. , I'm new here. I've been really interested in this case because I'm from Manhattan and I actually spend a lot of time in Sutton Place.

Anyways, it looks like LD said MG had nothing to do with it when he was first interviewed & MG tried to use that to get permission to go on vacation to London but the judge is not letting him go.

Could you share with us the feelings of the tenants at the Sutton? Did they learn anything new from the video tapes as far as everyone's whereabouts that night? TIA

Well.....LD says MG had nothing to do with it. LE will want to verify that and make up their own minds. Maybe he didn't have anything to do with the murder but did have something to do with the cover-up. Or, maybe he really was not involved.

Either way, I agree with LE that he shouldn't be traveling out of the country right now, since he is facing charges in a serious case. England will still be there for a vacation later. That's my opinion anyway.

*snip* Police arrested Gemma on Tuesday, according to reports. Manhattan police believed Gemma was in the apartment at the time of murder, and helped the other two in hiding the evidence. He is also believed to have changed the victim’s clothes.

This is this first I've heard of him changing Joey's clothes. Some sites are not even allowing people to discuss this case. Nothing on Reddit and Datalounge shut down every single thread. What is going on with this?

Changing the victim's clothes? Strange. Why would he do that? And when?
And JC had been found with no pants.

IMO This report is a mistake. LE had stated that MG changed HIS OWN clothes.

@momoffourboys

They also said late Saturday instead of late Sunday. You had one job editor @morning news usa.. lol .I've noticed a lot of sloppy journalism lately. Especially the DailyMail and TMZ

Donna,
i know a few people who are shareholders and live in the Grand Sutton, which is the building where this incident took place, they are basically mortified and want to move on with their lives. To my knowledge the shareholders do not have access to and have not seen the videos, they do not want JR to live in the building anymore, which imo is completely understandable. Sutton Place is a neighborhood on the far east side of Manhattan in the 50s (midtown, for those not from the area). It is a generally a quiet, safe, upper class area and the people there do not want their neighborhood to be known for this crime. We've had other famous criminals who lived in the neighborhood. Robert Chambers, who was known as the preppy murderer lived there until his most recent incarceration for drugs. At any rate, it's one of the safest places to live in the city and people want to keep it that way. That being said, there are things that go on, like parties that involve a lot of cocaine and alcohol and sometimes other things. However, it's unusual that these parties end in such a gruesome murder. Also, people in the building want their privacy. They were infuriated that they had to come home to crime scene tape and reporters.

Freddie246, I can totally understand how they feel. I was thinking the security guards might have said what they saw on the tapes. I was interested to learn if Jeffrey was where he said he was and if there was any activity in his apt. just trying to peice the puzzle together. Thanks

Thanks for the link. And how bizarre this is becoming... How is changing the victims clothes not tampering with evidence? What am I missing here? Or wait, could this be an error in reporting? If so, what's new? :gaah:
According to an NBC New York report, Gemma has pleaded not guilty. His attorney, Mark Bederow, said that a charge of tampering with evidence, “should involve more than changing his clothes. And we think it’s something else.”

Gemma is either a really heavy sleeper or complete liar.

Also, why would he get up so early if he partied all night? When you crash after an all nighter, you don't wake up for hours. You don't take a two hour cat nap and leave in schlubby, borrowed sweat pants. Could he have taken the knife and/or drugs? What was the rush?

donna, honestly, I don't know what they saw. I don't live in the Grand Sutton. I actually live 3 blocks away, on 56 & 1st. That bldg is on 59th & 1st. I can say that the staff there, while they do have some security functions, are really more doormen than security guards, in other words, they help people with packages, hail cabs, etc. In my building, which is similar to that building there are cameras throughout that monitor certain areas, like the front door, the elevators, the hallways, laundry room, etc. the doormen don't really sit there and watch the cameras unless something completely out of the ordinary is going on. For example, if there was a fight outside the building they may watch at the time in an effort to determine whether to call the police, since JR lived in that bldg & probably kept late hours on the weekends, I'm not sure they would pay a lot of attention to it at the time because him coming home with a bunch of people at 4am & partying until all hours was probably a regular occurrence. I don't know if the building staff were even given the opportunity to view the tapes after it became clear that there was a criminal investigation in the bldg. It just my feeling, but it seems as if the police were the ones who came in and watched the videos with a fine tooth comb. I think I saw an interview with JC's dad where he watched them with LE. To be honest, even if the staff were given the opportunity to watch the tapes after they realized they were looking for evidence of a murder, they probably wouldn't talk about it for fear of their jobs.

ive thought a lot about those tapes and why they would throw JC's body out the window & this is what I've come up with so far. We know JR called for the cart, so he probably had the intention of taking the body out on that. However, JC, being a big guy probably didn't fit in a hard cover suitcase. They probably got him to fit in that duffel bag, but because of the soft, unstructured nature of the bag's fabric, one could see the shape of a body in the bag, like the contours of the head, or bent knees, etc. I think they put the duffel bag with JC in it on the cart & realized this, so they threw him out the window in the bag. That's how the blood evidence ended up on the cart, I read that he was seen taking the cart out with 2 suitcases, but they were probably empty. He may have just put them on the cart because he called for it & needed to appear like he was using it. what does everyone think?

Thanks Freddie, Let me start off by saying OMG at the thought of his body being tossed in that duffle bag. I was asking about "word on the street" type of gossip because as they say, if the rumor is strong enough, it's probably true.

I'm sure the cops did sieze the video tape..don't know what I was thinking there. Im also curious about the state of the Rackover's relationship since summers end and him moving out. Also if Joey had been to either Rackovers apts before. I have a habit of getting hooked on certain cases for some reason. This one is has really gripped me.

Interesting. Some are so sure of MG's innocence and he was arrested and charged with a crime. While others are hung up on Jeff's involvement and all he is guilty of is taking James in (and whatever relationship they had).

^^ Respectfully BBM

LD also told NYPD that only JR (not him) beat and stabbed Joey to death. To date, it isn't clear which one or if both actually murdered him.

What does seem to be clear is that MG has not been linked to the actual homicide Nor did he participate in concealment of the corpse.

While he may indeed be innocent of the two charges he was indicted for, his parents put up their home as collateral for his bail.

It was a nice try on his attorney's part, but the idea that the nearly 30 yr old expected he might be granted permission to be able to fly across the Atlantic Ocean for a vacation with Mommy & Daddy in the middle of all this is IMO quite ballsy.

I'm not grabbing my box of tissues in sympathy for his lack of a holiday excursion to Europe this year

I think the wondering about elder Rackover comes from him having access to the apartment and his car being used and him having to know JR's criminal background to an extent.

Why are threads on this case on other sites being silenced and shut down?

Why wouldn't the victim leave in the morning when the girls did? Why would you stay at a strangers place in the morning? Do guys generally meet other guys and just stay there after the party is done if you never met them before? Why did LD phrase the cigarette argument as if JR had a problem with JC leaving the apartment...

Depends. Elder Rackover is not a suspect nor POI in this case. While he withheld JR's criminal background when he was looking to purchase an apt in the bldg for him, it was discovered and he was thus unable to buy an apt for him (wound up able to score a rental instead), I do not believe that rises to the level of criminal behavior.

Immoral etc.? Sure. Breaking any shareholder regulations? Prob, but certainly does not amount to any criminal charges

Thanks. I guess a link on someone not accused is pushing it. I just felt it was important to mention he wanted to be a lawyer and if he went to law school he may feel confident enough to try to handle his situation the way he see's fit.. Jmo

Anonymous123,
i think they must've been doing a lot cocaine and that's probably why he didn't leave with the women. Cocaine is a drug that makes the user crave more and more and not really care about anything else.
