Found Deceased NY - Trevyan Rowe, 14, autistic, Rochester, 8 March 2018

  • #81
I was really expecting trevyan to have been found safe yet. Further up in a post I seen mention of a threat to trevyan but haven't been able to find anything out about it. Have any of the locals heard any talk of this threat. I'm thinking he could have been being bullied and this is what was meant, as in another child had threatened him harm.

Poor darling boy! He must be so cold and hungry. All I can do from here is pray that he is located. Let today be the day!

I agree it doesn't bode well.. :(

Sounds like they have discounted the sightings. Lets hope he is walking Wilson Blvd along the river....

This is in no way confirmed, but my son's aide (who was part of the Mary Cariola staff on the search team on Friday) said that Trevyan's home is on the other side of the river, in the Dewey Ave area. Maybe (hopefully) if he was seen along the river, he's trying to find his way home?

On other fronts, article just now from Democrat -
the school did not notify the boy's mother, Carrie Houston, as they should have, Rochester City School District officials said Sunday. They are still reviewing how that happened.
Houston called the school demanding an explanation. When school officials realized something was amiss, both administrators and the mother called Rochester police to report him missing.

this quote from Rachel Rosner, who heads up Autism Up
She described him as "a smart kid ... with good cognitive skills," and quite physically fit. He could have survived three chilly days and three nights of freezing temperatures, she said, and could have roamed far from home.

As the Mom of a 14 year old autistic boy (who's been having a bit of a meltdown today) this is just tearing me up thinking of Trevyan out there cold and hungry and scared

Search efforts continue for Trevyan Rowe

A SCUBA Team is searching a portion of the Genesee River, and a New York State Police helicopter is actively searching the area.

Police say command staff will meet to review the activities of the last four days and determine the best path going forward.

This is a developing story.

Do magnet schools still take RTS, or do they have school buses now? ( I grew up there). 12 has an innovative autism program. Someone may want to contact the bars on Elmwood and South Ave, as well as Tahoe's edited to add: U of R should blast out the info as well

I have been part of the search over the weekend and have just been informed by Autism Up staff that the volunteer effort is now over. I will be continuing to search until this young man is found. I met and prayed with his mother this morning and have given her my word that I will continue to search until he is found, even if I have to do it alone. If anyone is interested in working together please let me know.
Thanks.

They're still using RTS for the high school students, but they're no longer going through the central bus station. They get picked up at or near their home and delivered directly to the school.

Special needs students of all ages are on the yellow school buses. Rochester School District has a small fleet of their own, but mostly contracts with Monroe Bus (which has a fleet of smaller yellow school buses). My son goes to school on Monroe bus.

Not sure if Trevyan was on a RTS bus or a school bus, but I think probably a school bus since apparently he's still in middle school as his younger sister was on the same bus. ETA - Trevyan was described as being high functioning, so he may have been on a "regular" school bus, not one for special needs kids, which always have aides on them (well, they're supposed to -- Monroe bus company has sent out the bus to our house twice without an aide, and I called and insisted they put an aide on immediately, which they did)

If he has actually crossed over the river, traffic would have seen him, right? Or does that bridge have a shielded walking area? Cameras?

Welcome!! I posted this earlier. Do you know if Robinson or Elmwood have been searched? Do you know where they think he might have entered the cemetery?
-------------------------------------------------------
If he went into the cemetery at the three entrances that cross fifth:
2 of them spin him around in circles but finally pops him out near Robinson.
The 3rd one pops him out at various places on Elmwood Ave.
None of them pop him out at the river. If he is high functioning, imo he will stay on a path.

Received email from Rachel Rosner, Autism Up today. She said today were "concentrating efforts to canvass highly trafficked areas around Rochester and the surrounding neighborhoods." Elmwood was part of that area that was canvassed today. Robinson is in Highland Park which was searched on Friday.

I think he would have stayed on a path anyway, because there would have been about 4 to 6 inches accumulated snow (old and new) off the paths, and he had on sneakers, not boots.

The school surveillance cameras indicated he was moving north on South Ave as he left the school, so if he did go into the cemetery, he'd have likely taken a left on Linden street then a left on Mt Hope Ave, and entered the northernmost entrance of the cemetery.

It's entirely possible that the boy calling from the cemetery (although wouldn't they have been able to figure out by now if that were him from the number?? and if he had a phone why not call home?), the sightings in the East Ave/Park Ave neighborhood and the sightings along the river could have all been Trey, as it's all within a 2 - 3 mile radius, so he could have been roaming around trying to find his way home.

His family keep mentioning that he will avoid people he doesn't know, and will not seek out help from strangers, and if asked if he needs help, he will say "no."

School 12 is north of the park and cemetery. If he was headed north, that is the opposite direction of where they are searching. Or am I turned around?

Can someone provide a map with points?

Hey Gig- appears that the sighting to the north isn't holding.

Would he just walk and walk, or hunker down somewhere and stay hidden? I'm really scared for this handsome young man. :(

We know for certain that he was walking north on South Ave as he left the school. This is what the security cameras show.

What is unclear is whether the sightings further north (actually about 2 miles NE) were really him.

Or whether the call from the cemetery was from him. But if it were, he could have taken a left at the first street going north on South Ave and then come down Mt. Hope Ave a couple blocks and been in the cemetery -- about a 20 minutes walk.

The school is also just 2 blocks from the river, so going north he could have gotten over to the trail along there.

I don't know how to post a map with the points, but maybe someone else is more clever?

Oh dear, getting word that something has been found in river search..."resolution"

The volunteer search effort included work by several organizations including the Al Sigl Community of Agencies, AutismUp and the Mary Cariola Children’s Center.

There are still questions over why it took several hours for city school officials realize that Trevyan was missing. The search began Thursday evening. Rochester police officials will meet Monday to work out how to move ahead with the search at this point.
