I wonder if they went out or had a few drinks before going out on the water? She could have put something in his drink or food.

I would like to know what they were doing before kayaking too:

Graswald and Viafore left Plum Point in kayaks around 4:15 p.m. and kayaked to Bannerman's Island, and stayed about two hours.

When the couple was about two-thirds of the way back, "the victim's kayak filled with water, causing it to capsize," Mohl said. "The victim was holding onto the kayak ... he went under water and drowned," around 7:15 p.m.

Fiancee arraigned in missing kayaker's death, was beneficiary of insurance policy

"She further stated that she watched him go underwater and she rendered him no assistance. While she witnessed him struggling for his life, she stated she felt a sense of happiness and relief. The defendant said it felt good knowing he was going to die. She stated she wanted him dead. She felt trapped and this was her only way out."

They were on the island for 2 hours, maybe they had a picnic?

So basically she confessed? What a clever one. Not.

Totally chilling. Remember I said how her photo gave me the chills/creeps? I think my gut was operating on this one. So, so terrifying that a guy could be sleeping with a human like that and never know until too late.

Twisted.
She has "the crazy eyes".

IMO, she was a party girl. She worked at several bars. He fell for her. She was a gold digger and convinced him to make her a beneficiary on his insurance. She never intended to marry him. :moo:

She probably convinced him to launch from the west side, and told him; "You don't need your life vest" blah blah. She waited until sunset so it would be darker and she could do the deed. Sad.

The saddest thing for me is that he loved the water so much, and that's how she killed him. RIP Vince.

Graswald detailed where the equipment could be found, but not Viafore's body.

She was also aware that she was the primary beneficiary on two of Viafore's life insurance policies, and "talked about what she could do with the money" after his death.

http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/story/news/2015/05/13/graswald-bail-set-hearing/27248067/

Also from your link:

(snip)

Graswald did not call for help until 7:40 p.m., Mohl said. Graswald said she could see Viafore while on the phone, and the call was cut off when she herself capsized.

Witnesses say they saw Graswald "intentionally" capsize, and when she was questioned about inconsistencies in her statements, "she said she capsized her kayak on purposely," because she wanted authorities to believe she tried to save Viafore, Mohl said. "She stated that she tampered with the victim's kayak...she knew it would contribute to his death."

I think they had no idea of any of that until the bail hearing. Demanding a bail hearing before arraignment is a tactic to get a jump on what the prosecution has evidence-wise. The prosecution likes to hold back their evidence as along as possible to prevent the defendant from having a lot of time to creating alternate scenarios/explanations to mitigate the evidence.

And, I'm thinking that AG didn't tell her lawyer what she told LE. I think she thought her lawyer would be her savior - because doesn't everyone want to help her out because she's so darn cute and bubbly?

JMO.

Why couldn't he hold on to the kayak??? He was a big man and strong swimmer. He must've been drunk or drugged.

If the kayak filled with water, how come they found the kayak right away but haven't found him??

Very good question. I was thinking the kayak filled with water and he was struggling with a sinking kayak more than a capsized one. What in the world did she do to that kayak?

I wouldn't be surprised if the ruse was to go to the island on a "moody" (cloudy, windy) day for photographs among the ruins. The guy liked the camera and she was a photographer. I'd like to see if photographs show up as evidence of the day.

Hmmmm...Why do I think she studied the Jodi Arias "trash your victim" playbook for her defense. She reminds me so much of Jodi. I don't believe Angelika felt trapped at all. I believe he was about to dump her and change his beneficiary. She had to act quickly to preserve what she was "entitled to." JMO

So she admits what she did, but "mark my words," she will do her best to take him down with her and cause his family and friends as much pain as possible. JMO

“The bubbly, bouncy little ballerina girl had a dark side,” said Mike Colvin, a disc jockey in Poughkeepsie she lived with from November 2008 to June 2010. Still, he never saw Graswald act in a way that suggested violence.

Graswald could walk into a room full of strangers and know everyone’s name by the time she left, Colvin said. But he said he also had authority issues and could make unwise snap decisions when angry. She had run through two marriages and a string of jobs by her mid-30s. The impulsiveness apparently contributed to her checkered job history at restaurants and other businesses.

“They would have staff meetings, and she would just lose it, and eventually she’d have to be let go,” Colvin said. “This happened more than once. Not a big fan of authority.”

Regarding the life jacket question, I wonder if they weren't people who simply rarely used them. In the pic she posted of herself kayaking, she's not wearing one, nor did I see either of them wearing them in any of their FB photos. If that is the case, it's much more suspect that she wore one than that he didn't.

Please, always wear a life jacket.

We're just wondering if at some point she may have drugged him via food or drink, since it seems he went down a little too easily.
