LEBANON, Ohio - When the judge sat down,
Brooke “Skylar” Richardson began shaking. The former high school cheerleader’s curly blonde hair bounced as she looked straight ahead.
Before that, Richardson’s aunt trembled. Sitting in the front row of the courtroom, her aunt's knee bounced up and down. The trial hadn’t begun yet.
Richardson is
accused of killing her newborn daughter in 2017 and burying the girl in her backyard – only a few days after prom. Richardson, now 20, is charged with aggravated murder and involuntary manslaughter.
Her family says the child was stillborn and Richardson didn’t know what else to do but bury her. If convicted, she could spend the rest of her life in prison.
