I don’t get why G4 hearings were recorded… when anyone can pull them up on the news site that was there or the internet? To me that's waste of money. Does anyone know why the hearings would need to be recorded?

Not necessarily recording the hearings. There are so many other meetings they had if you look at the other invoices. Plenty to record besides hearings.

One of JW's and one of G3's were also recorded that we know of. There may be things that are recorded by their own videopgrapher that the news media does not record is all I can think of. They are all days that they were in hearings in court, except for AW which I believe is an error in the invoice. G4 was actually in court on that day, not AW.

The days on those invoices are days they did have hearings in court. It does seem it probably would be the hearings although it could be them meeting with their client before court while at court location.

No need to video a short hearing that is always transcribed.

I don't think the time matches on the length of the short hearings to what is charged on the invoices.

I think they had other meetings that same day while George was at court.
Good opportunity to see George.

I think it is a flat fee apparently, they are all 180.00 and some hearings were longer than others. I do think they also have meetings with their clients while at court. They may have a need whether we think there is or not. They may share it with the other lawyers/co-defendants for review.

Just my opinion that the video invoices do not refer to the Hearings being recorded.

Waste of money to record Hearings that the Cincinnati News Station WCPO records every single time. And every Hearing is 100% transcribed word for word.

I would be surprised if I'm wrong but then again money has been wasted on worse things.

Just buy a transcript for crying out loud. Cha ching...$

Even any of us can see a video or buy a transcript. Save money that way.

I would say that a WCPO station may not record everything or that the defense can not count on them to always catch everything in a way that the defense team wants them to. Sometimes it is also very hard to hear when they are live in court as well as when you go back and try to relisten to the recorded one again.
Maybe they did try to use the ones from the news station but it has not worked out very well in some instances .
A videographer would have specific ways and instructions of how and what to record.

Just differing opinions. You could be right of course but what a stupid waste of money when there are so many more important aspects of the Case the defense could spend money on.

Money is a real issue in George's defense.

I would rather spend $180 x X on forensic experts and investigators etc...

Starting with the gun Jake said was used by George. That gun is a real problem for George, especially if it is the Glock.

We all know George bought a Glock with his uncle and was known as the Glock man.

Since they are spending the tax payers money they may not care. They will spend the tax payer money on the Forensic experts and investigators also, like they have so far.

Jake said a gun was used by George?

There still is a finite amount of $ that can be spent. Remember Deering brought the subject of $ up. He was leery of spending all that $ on a defense coordinator. I don't see anything showing they hired one since Deering questioned it.

"Jake said a gun was used by George?"

It stands to reason in my opinion that when Jake led the investigators to the 3 guns they asked him if he knew which gun did Billy use? Which gun did George use? And I believe Jake knew the answer to those questions.

I always thought:

Jake = .22 Walther Colt

George = .40 Glock

Billy = .30 SKS 30 caliber rifle

I understand both opinions. After the arrests , and I could wrong but I thought Deering said only one media would be permitted in the court room. I understand recordings could have been done behind closed doors. On court view expenses are posted so they can be paid . My question is wouldn’t a request or motion to have a hearing recorded would have been listed?

It probably is routine, especially in DP cases. Just keep a recording of everything in case you need it later for anything, including appeals.

Well, they hired one for June 21st, 2021 and that is the last time that they had a hearing for anyone so you would not see an invoice for another one as of yet.

I believe he would know the answers to those questions also. Will be very interested to see what he said about that.

I’m confused about who’s was recorded . If a mistake was made on the invoices wouldn’t that have been something the courts would want corrected?

I do not think a hired videographer would be considered media.

You know AW's was not recorded on any of those dates because she was not in court on those dates. She has not been to court since 6-24-20.
All the dates listed that are recorded are court date hearings. I am sure they would have it corrected if they noticed. There have been many little things that are wrong on documents/paperwork that have been seen and it is not corrected sometimes.
Humans make errors and they are not always caught.

Can't find where they hired a Defense Discovery Coordinator or said they would hire one.
Looking at George's Docket.

Was this said in his Hearing?

They hired a videographer on June 21st, they have not hired a discovery coordinator. We were talking about the videographer weren't we.
You said you had not seen where they hired one since. There has not been a hearing since June 21st. If you were talking about the coordinator I was talking about a videographer which was what the posts were about from my perspective. There is a big difference between spending 100K and 180.00.

When I quoted your post I mentioned it here:

Just a miscommunication.
