Do we know with any certainty that any masks were worn on the night of the murders?

No, but why suddenly buy masks within 2 months of the homicides?

Why buy masks when it is not cold out? It's spring. Why buy a Captain America mask when you don't celebrate Halloween and Halloween is 7-8 months away anyway?

Why buy a mask and a nightscope? The nightscope is to shoot raccoons at night, ok, but are you going to shoot raccoons wearing a mask? You want to disguise yourself from the raccoons so they won't know who you are?

What will the jury think? I think the jury will have these same questions.

We'll probably know soon enough, either when the remaining cases go to trial or are resolved through plea agreements.

I'm going to assume there were masks worn that night. There's no other reason for the prosecution to bring up this line of questioning when the BCI agent was testifying. Why else would AC bring up the Captain America mask to Agent Scheiderer?

We do know for a fact that George 4 bought a Captain America mask in March or April, just before the Rhoden Murders.

JMO, YMMV

In one of Jakes earliest interviews he stated that he and his family did not celebrate Halloween because of their religious beliefs. That is where that came from. Betty, Dudley, RSD, Niner do any of you remember which article he said that in?

JMO
I remember that interview also.

It was way back, right after the murders. About the time he had the gofund me?
I think you are right Almond. Was it in the Chris Graves one right after the funerals?

The big hint to me is when Jake said- its a 50 50 she's mine. If she isn't I'm not gonna take her, but I will want visitation so the two sisters can know each other. They're going to need it especially now.
I'm not gonna take her..... wtf??? Such a weird gross thing to say

My thought is that the mask
was for the surprise or startle effect, or to momentarily confuse the person who answered the door at CRsr.
Just another way to try to gain entry.

First, they weren't sure they would be able to kill all of their targets. If someone escapes, they don't want to be identified.

They also knew children would be present, some who might be old enough to identify them.

There would also be concerns about neighbors or anyone who might accidentally drive by as they were entering or leaving the crime scenes.

In planned massacres vs crimes of passion, its not unusual for killers to use some method to hide their identity.

ETA: Also agree w/ Ann99 above - they may have also wanted to have some dramatic effect on the victims, to frighten them into not fighting back.

Another reason might have been to keep from being identified on the surveillance camera recordings. Since they had to come in close vicinity to the cameras in order to steal them, I would think the odds would be pretty high that their faces would be seen on the recordings. They may have also used masks as insurance of hiding their faces just in case there were any hidden cameras the W4 didn't know about. JMO

Yep! Very good point.

They thought of everything, except how to have a conscience.

I've dug through the Chris G articles and can't find the quote. :( Perhaps it was on facebook or a tv station?

I don’t know if this is permitted or not , if not I apologize. Wasn’t it in a news article a year or so after the murders about BR mentioning seeing ninjas that night? Ninjas basically wear masks. Jmo

In Pike County, family clings to hope

A masked man was mentioned, no ninjas were mentioned in the media that I'm aware of.

"...Stacie Rigsby (Kendra's mom) made adjustments to secure her windows and often asks a friend to spend the night with her. She is convinced damage done to her mailbox in early May is tied to the killings. Two weeks later, the family reported a masked man on the property who ran off, according to police reports. ..."

"...Also in May, Geneva Rhoden came home to find her apartment door tampered with, according to a police report. .."
