I don't think you were victim bashing, Raisin, I just don't see this as Hillbilly Justice. What I've usually seen as Hillbilly Justice is a death, either committed, or perceived to have been committed, by another, and the decead's family member will seek justification for that death.

I do believe that there were tensions brewing, between the two families over a variety of things, for several years, and it appears, that the Ws became infuriated with (grew to hate) the Rs/HHG, and murdered them.

In looking back through all of this, neither family, were as poor as Job's turkey. If we look at it objectively, the Rs were living the life they wanted, and the W4s were living pretty well too. The W4s were maintaining and working, and living off of, a small, working, farm. AW seems to be the only family member in both families, to have attained a college education (at least she stated as much on her FB and she probably went into AF to assist w/her education). Both families had all the adult toys they wanted, went on trips, built derby cars, their kids had nice vehicles, nice clothing. Folks have made fun of the Ws little home but it's what they wanted, same as the Rs liked their trailers. They both had things going pretty good, visitation was working out pretty good, but there's always some issues when people split, but it seemed to work fairly well. That "undercurrent of drugs" is what keeps bothering me. I believe it will play a role in what ultimately led to this, if only that it was the precursor to the families ending friendships and/or business ties, which then lead to a big downhill slide.

Fair enough. Hillbilly or Mountain or whatever justice may have been too strong a word. But I do not think killing is necessary to be involved in someone wanting justice for a perceived "wrong."

But to say there was no feud between the W's and R's is not entirely true either. The definition of feud is
feud
/fyo͞od/

noun
  • . a prolonged and bitter quarrel or dispute:
verb
  • 1. take part in a prolonged quarrel or conflict:
While the argument may not have been prolonged we can certainly assume it was bitter because it resulted in 8 murders.

My issue is with not being allowed to discuss on here the things that may have led to the murders. The R's were not saints. They were not bad people but they did do some bad things according to society.

Fact: The R's sold drugs.
LE has stated many times they found a commercial grow op at 2 R residences.

Fact: The R's were in a contentious custody agreement.

Fact: The R's physically fought with people over many things including but not limited to demo derbies, people driving down their road, ect.

The R's were not saints. You cannot white wash their prior actions simply because they were murdered. The R's were rowdy, tough people who as you say "lived life out loud."

They fought, they sold drugs, they argued with people, they beat people up, they pulled guns on people.

And we should be allowed to discuss all that on here without being labeled as "victim bashing".

Looks like the prosecutors and defense attorneys are still in conference. As always, wonder what they're discussing?

They've been in there a good half hour or more.

Is RW or her bro there? Tysm
I have horrible audio, too.
Looking for a better livestream.

I agree with you, Raisin. Mods could help us out with this. Maybe it's a matter of semantics for me WRT feuding and other remarks that imply there was something the R's had done to make the W's angry with them. Obviously, the Rhodens contesting the Wagners' claims for full custody of Jake and Hanna's daughter likely triggered the Wagners to plot the murder of their entire family. It's possible there was some other event(s) that triggered the W's prior to the custody fight, but we don't know.

I understand people speculating about other factors that triggered the Wagner's murderous rage. Because the legal process is underway to try the Wagners for the murders, some of us think it's important to avoid attempts to paint the Rhodens in a negative light, or carelessly causing their own deaths.

I'm sure many of us have followed trials here at WS in which defenders of murderers attempt to impugn the reputations of their victims in hopes of swaying the news media, potential jurors, etc. I'm certain you're not doing that. Maybe we can find a way for well-intentioned people to speculate about what Rhodens might have done to trigger their murders without encouraging those who seek to influence public opinion in favor of the killers. I'm open to any and all suggestions.

I have been on here almost since day one of these murders. I was the first one who said the W's did it. I argued long and hard to convince others on here that the W's were guilty of these murders. I am in no way defending the W's because I knew over a year ago they were guilty as sin. To imply that I am defending the W's or trying to sway public opinion to favor them is totally unfair. Go back and read some of my posts from the last year and a half.

The fact is the W's were angry with the R's. They slaughtered them. If that doesn't say angry I don't know what does. You cannot get around that.

I am not trying to portray the R's in a negative or "bad" light. What I am stating is fact. And all that is going to come out in the trials. Or do you think the defense attorneys don't know how to research? They are going to bring up every little thing they can find on the R's. They do not need my help to do that and would not get it if they did.

But I think we do have the right to discuss everything the R's and W's did that proceeded the murders whether it looks negative or not.

Haven't seen the camera pan to the rest of the courtroom since I've been watching. Assume some family members are there.

WCPO link has been working for me. Audio isn't very loud at this point, but they probably don't have mics in the gallery, which is where most activity is happening right now.

I was just listening again to DeWine's PC announcing the arrests. He mentioned the killers tampered with the victims' cell phones afterwards. Wonder what they did?

  • #1,211
Ok, its begun

Court will extend indefinitely the time for pre-trial motions. Will set the pace for discovery.

State makes motion for order that AW not have any contact with other defendants, whether writing, phone, through third parties.

Judge rules no contact directly or indirectly with other co-defendants.

Adjourned. Next hearing March 20

Odd, Robin Wagner is making notes or something with a felt tip pen, writing on the leg of her khaki pants.

Destroyed them.

Destroyed them.

Likely, but I was also wondering if they attempted to send or receive bogus text or phone messages that would show up on their phone records. Wonder if LE was able to recover any of the actual phones? JMO, electronic communications will be an important part of these trials.

Just a guess .. Sending texts, making FB posts?

Had the live feed paused and my face upside down at the monitor trying to read the pants legs, and the video went back live on it's own. Was just about to make out some words. Odd thing to do, guess she forgot paper.

If the bailiffs let you bring a pen into the courtroom, I believe they also let you bring in paper, too.
Or is paper, tablets & notebooks only for the press? Just asking....as I usually write on my hand when I don't have paper.
ps. spell check is my friend, write/right/rite....not!:)

I don't see any purses or bags. My guess, they aren't allowed. She borrowed that pen from the others and that's all she had to write on. I've written on my jeans and hands/arms before when no paper was available.

That was weird ! Was she writing and crossing off names on both pant legs ? I’ll go back and look at the video again. Lenny seemed somewhat distracted to his left today, RW ?
