OH Pike County: 8 in Rhoden Family Murdered Over Custody Issue 4 Members Wagner Family Arrested#40

According to the special prosecutor brought in on the case, the Wagners were over heard on multiple occasions making threats of revenge against a BCI agent, (main agent on case) towards Sheriff Reader, and even towards the AG---in the event of being arrested.

They also discussed plans of escape should some of them be arrested. Even without a confession, these conversations seem incriminating to me. Makes them look somewhat guilty.

If you were innocent thinking you could get arrested, wouldn't you be discussing what attorneys to call? Etc....

Oh I see, if by "talk", you mean them talking to each other, then yes, they talked. How could they plot and plan without talking to each other? I thought the comment was referring to loose talk outside the family.

We don't know, there may have been loose talk outside the family. The overheard conversations could have been by audio surveillance or overheard by someone outside of the family or both.

Then there is a witness, who could be outside of the family, who's prior testimony the State might use against the defense. This witness knows something and got it from somewhere. Do not know if this person directly overheard something the Wagner's said, but it is a possibility.
MOTION #32......Analysis: Pike County murder suspect's 49 motions reveal unexpected requests

And loose talk caught on a wiretap is careless and is technically giving inside information to people outside of the family.

Face it, folks, whatever you call it, this crime was conceived in a climate of entitlement and complete absence of common sense or morals. I mean what kind of idiots would think they could get away with it? Someone with little experience in the real world steeping in hours of crime tv worked into their home curriculum (sarcasm. I imagine them to be watching tv and not studying.). , along with a dash of the Alaskan fodder in other stations.
Incredible. Not one of them stopped and said Whoa! Thus might be a bad idea!
This photo enlarged: NO SCORPION TATOO on right index finger!!! Shocking beyond, beyond.

They may have more laughs yet. Keep in mind, they are still a long way from being convicted. My understanding is that it was not talk that nailed them, it was evidence. To my knowledge, no one has talked.[/QUO Please Lord let somebody turn them loss in General Population and let natures game it's course.

I think it possible that someone was bragging. Perhaps amongst each other at the Farm and hired help overheard. If GW3 did in fact acquire the scorpion tattoo since the murders and it’s design represents he killed 8 people then his arrogance may have given a strong clue.

I just don’t get it. Apparently together the Waggies were smart enough to make a fairly sophisticated plan to execute these murders.
But as individuals I think they behave as a preschooler telling a lie.

What is your viewpoint re the dumbest parts of this case? Something they did or didn’t do?

The scorpion tat was a VERY stupid thing to get especially on his hand. He should have had it out on his butt. There’s a full body tatted guy in England who just had his ding a ling (had to find a word for it I could use here, apologies if it’s an immature word as well or if anyone was offended) tattooed. They wrapped it over a rolling pin to be able to get a clear image for the tat. George’s tat is that stupid. The minute a LEOs viewed it, they knew what it represented. And maybe he does have a butt tattoo.

Picking up Sophia at an odd time just hours prior to the killings.

Evidence they left undestroyed.

Moving to Alaska and affiliating themselves with a church affiliated with Olson’s Alaska Militia Organization.

Involving AWs mother in any size shape or form. It appears she has had a very hard life and has no electricity, wood heat yet cares for her own very elderly mother.

Being so arrogant to not consider the gargantuan impact on the children left behind, the scores of other relatives and friends.

There’s the dollar cost of the investigation. The emotional amount paid by us who didn’t live close but who were absolutely shell

A yet unrealized impact on a community, state and nation we won’t understand for decades.

They exposed the absolute underbelly of Appalachia most of us thought had faded away, HILLBILLY JUSTICE. Most of us never would guess that people still have such a careless disregard for life.

What do you think the worst mistakes or the stupidest things the Waggies did or didn’t do?

I wonder if he might have gotten it after FW came back from lying to the Grand Jury and told them they might be arrested. I think he got it to look tough in prison? They had to believe LE had something on them, or the wouldn't have been making revenge and escape plans. JMO

I think the move to Alaska is part of the motive. That dream of moving to Alaska had been in the works for some time before the murders per the pastor in Alaska. The W's had visited AK numerous times and I think they dreamed of moving there and "living off the land" thus satisfying their desire to hunt and to alleviate their financial woes by getting rid of a house mortgage and other bills including utilities.

Something happened to accelerate that dream after their move off the FWF to the Peterson RD house. Maybe the reality of having to pay a house payment every month and paying for their own food and utilities?

I think when Jake and Hanna broke up and it became obvious she was not going to AK with them, therefore SW would not be going either, they first tried to get her to sign over rights to SW. When that didn't work they resorted to murder, killing 8 people. I think Jake and Angie were the driving force behind this. Jake because he hated Hanna for leaving him and having another man's child and Angie because no one was going to get in the way of her"Life Below Zero" dream.

I also think another part of that motive was revenge. I think that the W's started out with the plan of intimidating Hanna into signing over her parental rights. When that didn't go over murdering her was next. I think the plan to kill them all came after the rumored fight between Billy and Chris in which it was rumored that Chris won. It was a revenge and pride thing then. The W's took on the "wipe them all out" mentality of Anse Hatfield in which I think Billy was the driving force with prideful George backing him up all the way.

Thus involving all 4 of them in a massacre with each of the 4 having different motives for killing 8 people.

I agree something accelerated the move, but, their home on Peterson probably had a less expensive monthly payment, t&i, combined, than living in a home of similar squ footage, in Kenai. Renting a 2br 1.5 bath, w/pets, seems to run around $1k per month. In June of 2016, they were improving the farm, but when they sold the place, they owed money to one of the folks who helped build the barns, so they had to pay him before the sale could go through. So if they were struggling in Peebles, OH, they'd probably be struggling even more in AK. They were already hunters, and raised Kunekune pigs, Dall Sheep, and also had fowl,(all edible) and had quite a large garden too (DefFarms FB). They could actually have been self-sufficient for quite awhile, as long as they could pay their mortgage.

Oddly enough, Devil Anse passed on this day, in 1921, at the age of 81, from pneumonia. A major turning point in the Hatfield and McCoy feud, was when three McCoy's stabbed, and then shot, one of Devil Anse's brother's, in the back, during Election Day festivities. The Hatfields came for the three, and executed them.

Lesser known about Devil Anse;
Even though he was best known as the patriarch of the Hatfield clan during its warring with the McCoys, lesser known is the fact that Devil Anse had found religion, having been baptized in 1911 in Island Creek by “Uncle Dyke” Garrett. Hatfield went on to found a Church of Christ congregation in West Virginia.

As for the mindset of the alleged murderers: I think they are delusional and/or ignorant to think they could get away with committing 8 murders at 4 locations. The full weight of the Fed and State governments were involved from the outset of the investigation. Perhaps, they committed a murder/murders before and gotten away with the crime. Who knows, really, because we don't know when LE got on their scent and what evidence they have to present at trial. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out in court. ALL MY OPINION.

Buying murder supplies at (survelience city) Walmart.

Having numerous conversations (overheard) about revenge and escape when they knew they were the subjects of a laser focus investigation.

DeWine even asked for information on interactions... ie...conversations people had with them. Ever hear of a wiretap? Loose lips sink ships.

Anyone else got anything?

It’s basic cya to have a warrant for every search, piece of evidence and darn near every conversation. Receipts are normal procedure. LE COULD have confiscated the vehicle. Instead they took pieces. And contrary to my thoughts 6 months ago the receipt could be very real.

Great post. Does anyone remember when AW started selling off the pigs? It was Jan 2015, and she stated the reason as "due to family matters," or something close. Just saw it again the other day, but can't remember where. JMO

I may be completely wrong here, Charlie might be able to tell us more about it. I heard that you could homestead land in AK. 150 acres or something like that. You have to live on the land for 6 months and make improvements to it then it is yours. Only certain areas of wilderness land is available for homesteading. You have to apply through the state of AK.

Charlie?

1. Jake dyed his hair.
2.None of the Ws attended funeral (supposedly).
3. The go-fund me account, which he stated that he had not heard of until his mother told him about it.
4. AW looking and posting on FB for housing in AK right after the murders.
