I don't see any purses or bags. My guess, they aren't allowed. She borrowed that pen from the others and that's all she had to write on. I've written on my jeans and hands/arms before when no paper was available.

Ditto.
Wonder if AW has been writing to her co-defendants? Some detention facilities/jails/prisons forbid mail between inmates. However, I THINK it common a letter might be sent to an Aunt or friend to forward to an inmate. Jmo

Ok, its begun

Court will extend indefinitely the time for pre-trial motions. Will set the pace for discovery.

State makes motion for order that AW not have any contact with other defendants, whether writing, phone, through third parties.

Judge rules no contact directly or indirectly with other co-defendants.

Adjourned. Next hearing March 20

Odd, Robin Wagner is making notes or something with a felt tip pen, writing on the leg of her khaki pants.

I saw that with Robin. She had both pant legs scribbled up with notes.
On another item, AW looked a little more concerned this time, at least to me she did....

I have been on here almost since day one of these murders. I was the first one who said the W's did it. I argued long and hard to convince others on here that the W's were guilty of these murders. I am in no way defending the W's because I knew over a year ago they were guilty as sin. To imply that I am defending the W's or trying to sway public opinion to favor them is totally unfair. Go back and read some of my posts from the last year and a half.

The fact is the W's were angry with the R's. They slaughtered them. If that doesn't say angry I don't know what does. You cannot get around that.

I am not trying to portray the R's in a negative or "bad" light. What I am stating is fact. And all that is going to come out in the trials. Or do you think the defense attorneys don't know how to research? They are going to bring up every little thing they can find on the R's. They do not need my help to do that and would not get it if they did.

But I think we do have the right to discuss everything the R's and W's did that proceeded the murders whether it looks negative or not.

JMO

My apologies, Raisin, for not being more clear in my earlier post. I said I didn't think you were among the people who are trying to make the Rhodens look bad in order to help the Wagners. I should have been clearer by also saying I don't think you feel the Wagner's aren't guilty. I have no doubt that you do think they're guilty and have, as you say, from the beginning. I sincerely hope that helps clear things up.

Her lawyer said they just received another batch of discovery. Looking like a slow boil for the frogs in the pot.

That or trying to communicate with them through a third party, like another family member, close friend, etc. JMO, there's probably a reason the prosecutors asked for this motion. It was interesting that AW's defense attorneys quickly interjected that they had given her explicit instructions not to communicate with any third parties about the case, sort of like saying "Hey, Judge, don't blame us. We told her not to do it". JMO.

I really wonder if she's been trying to discuss the case with RW or someone else. Could that explain some of RW's scribbling on her trousers?

Yes, things may be looking grim for the defense teams. Wonder if they're changing the discussions with their defendants? I'll have to listen to the hearing again, but at the end, the judge said something to the effect that there would be more discovery in the future.

Her attys had advised her not to do so, but there are ways to get around all of that. As you say, call a family member who is not on "the list of the banned", and then when Son 1 or Son 2 or the husband, phones that family member, they can give them updates. There are also ways to work around the phone systems so that they can talk to one another. If I were them, I'd not chance that, but, I'd not be in there for murdering eight people either, so who knows? Their backs are already against the wall, wth is gonna happen if they make contact with their incarcerated family members? They lose phone privileges for a month? In the grand scheme of things; Big whoop.

She’s allowed to have contact with RW, as she is not a co-defendant

She looked like she was about to cry when the judge ordered no contact with her co defendants including her own mother. I thought he was going to say she couldn't discuss the crimes with any one but he said no contact which I take to mean Angie cannot talk to her mother, MIL, husband or sons at all.

I think the prosecutor is subtly putting pressure on Angie by isolating her from her support base. The prosecutor knows how hard it would be to not be able to communicate with her mother knowing her grandmother is very ill. So I think that is a ploy to get Angie to roll on the others. They must think she is the weakest link.

But she's not allowed to discuss the case with RW, either. JMO, the prosecutors wanted that clear, in writing in the form of a motion approved by the judge so they can hold it against AW or the other defendants in some way. It makes things very clear and on the record.

Apology accepted. Thank you for clearing that up for me. And I am sorry for misunderstanding what you were trying to say.

Also a good theory.

I think each individual attorney wishes his client to not confer with another defendant. AWs atty cares none (IMO) what happens to the other three, vise versa. Individually, ea atty only cares about winning his case, getting less than DP for his client.

But couldn't that aunt or friend be charged with contempt of court for disobeying a judges order? I don't know, but it would seem like if they went against a court order there could be some kind of charge.
I myself would not risk it for friend or relative.

BettyP Responding with my best North Dakota accent, "Oh you betcha yeah." (Wish I knew how to attach that clip.)
Well wadayaknow Angela is attempting to break the rules in jail. I write "attempting" because for all we know, her classroom notes got intercepted, huh? Just thinking out loud folks. And noticing RW never "appeared to be taking notes" in the past hearings she has attended. Maybe she did come in with paper and it got taken away because she was passing notes!?? Hmm, I seem to remember her passing on a message through an attorney early on. And the audience is not supposed to distract from the court proceedings. (Ya' know, don't disrupt, try to get the defendants attention, don't waive, don't jump up and down, etc.) Uh, "do not contact other defendants" is not that much to remember. Lots of nervous energy, feverish movement...bout ran out of thigh.

Also, if they can't communicate with each other, they don't know if any of the others have talked or changed their story, or made a deal or anything at all about what's going on with them. They won't be able to compare notes or coordinate their actions. It must be very disorienting and isolating (good!).

I have a bad habit of making notes on my old riding jeans. If I’m out “farming” riding in a truck & need to make a note, there’s always a pen, not always adequate paper. Jmo
It’s very annoying to get home & immediately wash jeans, forgetting abt the pertinent info I hastily penned on my knee.
RW prob does so daily, in barns, noting things abt mares/foals, meds, etc.
I think AW has been locked up long enough that her concern has blossomed. She now likely knows this ain’t going away.
Think of being locked up not knowing what is really going on with your case. An hour would seem like 15 to me.

Pike Co. suspect must have no contact with co-defendants

During a brief pretrial hearing Monday, Judge Randy Deering ordered that Angela Wagner have no contact, direct or indirect, with her co-defendants. That means she won't be able to communicate with her husband, two adult sons, mother or mother-in-law.

Prosecutors also said they would respond before the end of January to requests by the defense to move the trials to another county. (Missed that part as my phone kept ringing during the hearing). Said they will also respond to 47 other motions filed by the defense.
