Found Deceased OK, Veronica Butler 27 & Jilian Kelley 39, Vehicle Abandoned, Texas County, 30 Mar 2024 #7 *Arrests*

It's all so wretched, absolutely, utterly wretched. I really cannot shake the horror of this crime. For me, it stands alone. Still trying to figure out how to say exactly why.

Learning details like TA being present and active during the murders, luring VB to the stock trailer by claiming her beloved children were in there with a baby calf, learning the stock trailer was intended to be an abattoir, but VB escaped, only to be hammered, tased and stabbed to death in the middle of a dirt road...

Learning the mortally wounded JK "didn't put up much of a fight"...

All of this maps the moments of the event and reveals that every single second was fear and pain. Two women were savagely murdered by people willing to do it, period. And those two women suffered until they died.

JMO.

Plea because you have to, and count yourself lucky that the system works like that, but don't ever for a single second think you're not murderers. You are. All y'all.

It amazes me that all this bloody violent screaming mayhem happened in broad daylight, on an open public street, where anyone could have driven by and seen it all at any moment. And if someone had driven by, there was a high likelihood that they would have recognized one or all of the murderers, since it probably would have been someone from the community, and as in all small towns, almost everybody knows everybody.

Adams claims she did it all for her grandchildren, and apparently losing them would be the worst thing in her mind. But how short-sighted (or dumb) would a person have to be to not see that her losing those kids was the most likely outcome from this? She really thought they'd get away with it, and must have really convinced the others of that too. I wonder at what point during this whole thing did they finally realize that the opposite was more likely to happen. It obviously didn't all go the way they had planned, so there must have been a point when it hit them, but it was too late by then.

I don't understand why Cora testified that Cole was to be left out of the plan completely, until a week before they did it, when he was brought in to be a lookout. I don't believe that he didn't know they planned to do it until then. He probably knew from the first time it was discussed. But the plan supposedly was to leave him out of it. Why, if they expected to get away with it? Just in case they didn't? And why leave Cole out and not Cora? Surely they thought Cole would be more useful than Cora in their violent plan. And I would think they'd think their children would be better off to still have their mother, if they ended up losing one of them to this. Maybe just because he was the family breadwinner, and she might not think she could make it financially without him. But that all means they did consider that this might end up sending one or more of them to prison for a very long time. And yet they still did it. And none of them except Adams had any personal reason at all to kill these women. Adams had no reason either, but she thought she did. Or says she did. It must be so hard for them now to see where it got them. But they'll get used to it eventually. No sympathy for any one of the whole rotten lot.

Did Grice actually say this, that Jilian didn't put up much of a fight? That would have been in the trailer on the way to the burial site, after Jilian had already been brutally stabbed by (probably) Tad Cullum, which the autopsy showed had the effect of causing her to be paralyzed from the neck down. Hard to put up much of a fight when you cannot move due to paralysis. Disgusting of him to say this, if so.

Per Cora's testimony, her relationship with TA goes way back to their youth and they became closer after they had children and their sons became friends. They bonded when both of their sons struggled with drug issues (Wrangler and Cora's deceased son).

The murder plot was not hatched until TA learned VB was likely going to be granted more visitation, likely leading to VB being awarded custody over dad Wrangler (TA did not have custody), and TA could no longer afford the legal fight for the children.

Cora testified that TA said Wrangler had turned on her and was coming to get the kids and take them away from TA, and reached out to the Misfits for a "Call of Arms" as witnesses. I believe this is when police showed up and convinced Wrangler to leave and that the children were better off with TA but TA feared she probably wouldn't prevail in keeping them from their own mother, VB. Cora vowed to TA do whatever it took (including murder) to help TA protect her grandchildren.

While I agree that Cora's testimony appears slanted to protect Cole, PG's testimony also seemed to support that Cole was not present when many of the murder details were discussed. The decision to murder and time to action was actually very short where the murder meetings seemed to be limited to TA, Tad, PG, and Cora. JMO

Grice is a seriously disturbed individual who allegedly said many disgusting things including referring to JK as a "nobody" or "person of no consequence" to explain why he even assaulted JK after first insisting to TA he would ONLY participate in the murder of VB to protect the children from SA abuse alleged by TA and Tad.

IMO, Tad easily trapped and overpowered JK and she died quickly whereas PG failed to overpower VB and she escaped from the trailer and violently fought against him. Cora testified that PG tasered himself and cut his own hand trying to subdue VB. MOO

Grice returned to the stand today for cross examination by Cullum’s attorney.

The cross examination began with Grice’s recollection of the first few interviews with the OSBI officers.

Grice admitted to perjuring himself in the first interview, saying he may have been drunk and that he was afraid.

“If I could tell you honestly, no. I couldn’t tell you all I lied about,” Grice said in the courtroom.

[..]

He began panicking, thinking that Kelley would wake up in the freezer underground, so Grice said he stabbed Kelley in the neck to ensure that she was dead.

Kelley’s medical examiner’s report revealed that she was paralyzed from the neck down at the time of her death due to a broken neck, but it was not determined if Grice or Cullum broke it.

It was stated in one of the recent news reports that Cora said Cole wasn't told sooner because he is a drinker and when he drinks he tends to get talkative. They were afraid he'd start talking about the plan with his drinking buddies, so he was kept out of the loop as long as possible.

In her testimony, she also claimed her husband Cole Twombly did not know about the plan until the week before because Adams didn’t want him involved because he was known to drink and was scared the word would get around.

[..]

On Wednesday, suspects Cullum and Cole Twombly returned to the Texas County Courthouse for their preliminary hearings. Grice also returned to continue testifying about the murders.

However, shortly after the hearing began, Cole Twombly was escorted out of the courthouse. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing and to a speedy trial. He is due back in court in May.

Cullum remains in the courthouse.

Me, too. What is worse is the name of CTs minor daughter was repeated several times in this interview. Now, that poor girl is going to be run through the wringer on the internet. They could have just referred to her as Cora’s daughter. Poor girl.
Her name was made public early on in other places, so I think anyone who wanted to know it already did. Luckily she has a different last name that should help shield her somewhat and allow her to go on with her life fairly anonymously once this is no longer in the news regularly. I hope so for her sake.

Cole Twombly has accepted a plea deal -- max of life, suspended all but 30 years.

TEXAS COUNTY, Okla. (KSNW) — The preliminary hearing for the final suspect in the case of two murdered Kansas mothers has ended. The judge found there is enough evidence for suspect Tad Cullum to go to trial.

Two of the five suspects provided disturbing details during the hearing. Two other suspects waived their right to a preliminary hearing.

Wednesday morning, suspect Cole Twombly did what suspect Tifany Adams did on Tuesday. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing and to a speedy trial. His next court appearance will be in May.

What I got from NewsNation coverage was that Grice killed both of the women.

Yes, that was in poor taste. In general, reputable media outlets agree not to name minor children. And, this is the child who went to LE to begin with, so protecting her should be one of their primary goals.

I gathered that there may be a question of TC's involvement in killing JK. We know she was incapacitated at some level before Grice reached her, but was she already dead? TC's attorney is arguing that Grice inflicted the mortal wounds. At this point, I think there's going to be enough doubt created to take DP off the table for TC if he goes to trial. What a jury will decide is anyone's guess, though.

DEC 18, 2024
On Wednesday morning, the attorneys for Cullum and Twombly cross-examined Grice. The main topic of discussion was whether Grice was taking responsibility for Kelley’s death.

Grice said he did stab her, but he did not admit to being the one who killed her. He said he couldn’t be sure. Cullum’s attorney argued that the 16 stab wounds on Kelley were from Grice’s knife, the same knife that was used to kill Butler, who was stabbed about 30 times.

...Cora said that part of her plea agreement is to protect her daughter, saying that if she testified, her daughter would not have to.

Grice said during his testimony that he connected with Adams after she shared the allegations that her grandchildren were being abused. He said that he was abused as a child. Grice said that Adams used bible verses and took them out of context, which he fell for. ...

Another thing that Grice stated in his testimony was that after he killed Butler and they were sitting in the middle of a dirt road, Adams walked around and laughed in a way that he had never heard before. He described it as evil.
The way Grice described her laughing gives me chills.

Yikes @Seattle1 ….. and this one element stopped me in my tracks cold just now when I read it….

RSBMFF: “Cora testified that TA said Wrangler had turned on her and was coming to get the kids and take them away from TA, and…..”

Now that starts me to thinking that maybe TA also did this in spite of the son? If so, utter depravity. And renewing the call IMO that TA (and no one else involved) should be given a plea deal. MOO

Suspect in Kansas murdered moms case wraps up testimony

Beginning at about the 2-minute mark in the video, the reporter says she talked to the family of Veronica Butler who shared that the State had asked them how they felt about the death penalty, specifically for Tifany Adams and Tad Cullum. Veronica's aunt said they discussed it and ultimately decided that it was an "easy-out" and that they are against the death penalty for Tifany Adams and Tad Cullum.

About 4:20 in the video...In April, Paul Grice willingly met with investigators at the Four Corners and after being confronted with forensic DNA and being told his name was being thrown around, he confessed. However, there was not a warrant for his arrest. He was allowed to go home and gave investigators his word that if a warrant was issued he would turn himself in, which he did.
