Found Deceased OK, Veronica Butler 27 & Jilian Kelley 39, Vehicle Abandoned, Texas County, 30 Mar 2024 #7 *Arrests*

BREAKING: Cora Twombly has admitted on the stand to playing a SIGNIFICANT role in the planning and execution of #VeronicaButler and #JilianKelley. The DA stated that in exchange for her testimony, he would recommend a life sentence with 30 years suspended. In my opinion, this is grossly unjust—it could mean NO jail time.At one point in her testimony, Twombly admitted she saw Paul Grice struggling on the ground with Butler and asked for help. Twombly says she handed #TifanyAdams a stun gun… and that was it. The DA didn’t push her for any further detail. What?! Is the state going to step it up soon? They are so focused on what route Twombly took to get where. Cora Twombly appears to show zero remorse in my opinion. No emotion. More updates to come.

Disgusting. They had so much on all of them. Why do they need a plea deal that seems so lenient? She should have to tell all at each and every trial. Ughhhhh.

From the article linked above, mentioning Cora Twombly's deal: We learned she entered a plea agreement with the state and for her testimony they are recommending she gets a sentence of life with 30 years suspended.

IMO, worded poorly enough to be confusing. Life sentence with 30 years of it waived? Life plus 30, entire sentence suspended?

I have no sympathy for her, period. She sat by, played her scripted role for the ambush, then asked her own daughter to get rid of evidence by washing down the truck. Murderers one and all is where I'm sitting. JMO.

And since TA has admitted guilt again, what does the State need Cora Twombly for anyway?
I think the "life with 30 years suspended" means that she will serve only a few years.

In Oklahoma a "life sentence" is actually 45 years. Of that, 30 years would be suspended, so that's 15 years.

If they are eligible for parole they must serve 85% of their sentence before being allowed to be considered for parole, but there are no guarantees and they may end up serving the entire sentence.

I'm not totally sure if the 85% is calculated with or without the suspended portion. Hopefully someone else knows which way it's done.

Here's the math for both scenarios:

85% of 45 years is 38.25, subtract the 30 from that and it's 8.25 years

If the 30 years are taken off the top, 85% of the remaining 15 years is 12.75

Either way, IMHO it's not nearly enough time for ANY of these misfit rejects

Today, I really want them all to fry, but I'll settle for rotting away in a cell.

The state will recommend a sentence of life with 30 years suspended for testifying today and in any future trials.

This means that Cora has to serve 30 years in prison before she is available for parole.

Two more days of this for the families. Heartbreaking. IMO.

Tifany Adams, also charged in the case, waived her right to the hearing and left the courtroom. She also waived her right to a speedy trial, according to court records.

[..]

Cole Twombly's wife, Cora Twombly, has waived her preliminary hearing and her right to a speedy trial.

[..]

Her next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 19, alongside the final suspect, Paul Grice.

Ok. That’s good news. That other reporter got it wrong, which is great. I can live with 30 years.

In testimony Tuesday, Cora Twombly said Adams had run out of money to continue the court fight.

Adams thought the children had been abused by their uncle while with their mother, according to the testimony.

The witness said Adams approached her for help killing Butler. "I told her we needed to do what we needed to do to keep the kids safe," Cora Twombly said.

Here's hoping for the full 30 years for CT !
And it looks like that's going to be the case.

Should be LWP, considering the magnitude of the crime and the vicious way they died.
Picturing Veronica fighting for her life and P. Grice being handed a stun gun to use on his victim.
I am thinking the faces of her children were her last thoughts.
The more we learn about this crime the uglier it gets.

And Jillian, murdered for simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time. And if I recall correctly, TA decided she had to die as she was helping Veronica, and thus became 'the enemy' ?

None of them deserve a day or second of freedom.
Not one.
Omo.

Sometime between September and October 2023, Tifany Adams issued a warning about what would happen if anyone tried to take her young grandchildren, a murder investigation found.

"Bodies would fall," she reportedly said.

Adams issued the warning about bodies falling when James Taylor, then the Cimarron County sheriff, made a welfare check on the children, the OSBI reported in court affidavits.

These preliminary hearings give prosecutors a chance to lay out evidence and for a judge to decide if there is enough evidence to go to trial.

The prelims are slated to last three days.
Wow…. thanks for sharing that @PommyMommy ….. seems that IMO premeditation would negate any likelihood of a possible plea deal for Tifany. I hope IMO. MOO

On Tuesday, the court heard testimony from Cora Twombly, who was testifying as part of a plea agreement. Twombly spoke about how she, Cole Twombly, Adams and Cullum became a kind of anti-government church group. Twombly told the court that Adams had begun to talk more and more about her struggles with Butler. Adams is biological grandmother to two of Butler’s children. Twombly said eventually, Adams confided that she had plans to kill Butler.

Twombly also told the court about how the group early on, excluding her husband, began its plans for Butler. She did say, however, that later her husband was brought in, only a week prior to the deaths, because they needed him for a lookout. She said she had also told her daughter about the plans.

Twombly said she also operated as a lookout. She said they had intended to lure the two into a horse trailer, but things didn’t go according to their plans. She said Butler managed to get out and after driving up to the scene witnessed Grice stabbing Butler.

...Cora said that part of her plea agreement is to protect her daughter, saying that if she testified, her daughter would not have to.

Grice said during his testimony that he connected with Adams after she shared the allegations that her grandchildren were being abused. He said that he was abused as a child. Grice said that Adams used bible verses and took them out of context, which he fell for. ...

Another thing that Grice stated in his testimony was that after he killed Butler and they were sitting in the middle of a dirt road, Adams walked around and laughed in a way that he had never heard before. He described it as evil.

CRIMEWATCH26 YT hosts Kari & Tara are attending the preliminary hearing and provided there are 10 Media passes, and capacity for spectators and family is at 50.

All victims and defendants had family and/or friends present in Court on Tuesday except for TA-- no surprise!

My understanding is the DA will recommend Cora T to serve 34 years before she's eligible for parole release in exchange for her testimony at prelim hearing and trial, versus LWOP. (She previously gave sworn recorded testimony to OSBI).

Cora also requested that her minor child not be called to testify -- whether or not this is honored and/or part of the plea deal is not confirmed. Paul G is testifying in exchange for no death penalty against him. MOO

How in the world is Grice being considered to testify? He's a direct killer. He went in, knife-a-slashing.

I could see where Cora might cut a deal for her testimony because she didn't have any direct contact with either victim. But, Grice?

And, Cora's only deal should be life in prison with parole in 20-30 years. Not a suspended sentence.

Something is rotten here.

I have a hard time with this part of Grice's testimony. Yes, the details are horrible. But this part about the laugh just seems too outrageous. It could be completely true. But, Grice admitted he's a liar (spinning yarns about being part of a mercenary group). I wonder if he embellished his testimony at all?

They would have juxtaposed his statements with her autopsy and the crime scene. My guess: he was telling the truth to save his hide.

“It caused an eruption in court,” Weiner said on “Banfield.” “Paul Grice was on the stand, and he starts talking about how he actually murdered Veronica Butler. … He said that the light came out of her eyes, and he fell to the ground. And he said Grandma Tifany (Adams) was walking around in a circle laughing.”

She said the whole courtroom was “sobbing” and that it got so loud that the judge stopped the proceedings.
