"Woody" and Steven Blaylock were only dating for a couple of months before they were married.
They had met each other because they had similar knee-surgeries. Since Steven was an unemployed carpenter, he didn't have any health insurance. He was also homeless, and was a "couch surfer" (i.e., one who sleeps on the sofas of various friends until he wears out his welcome and moves to another friend's home). Woody and Steven started dating, and he later began living at her home. My sister indicated that the marriage was probably just a means of getting him onto her health insurance plan.
My sister says that she was very surprised when they got married right away because the relationship was fairly volitile right from the start. They had broken up and gotten back together on several occasions. On those occasions, she would kick him out of her home but she would always eventually relent and let him back into her home.
The day after Woody went missing, Steven was speaking with a friend at a local bar and casually stated that Woody was missing. He explained that they had an argument, and Woody had just walked out of the home. The friend asked Steven if he had reported her missing, and he said no. He said that she would eventually come home. The friend immediately knew that this didn't make sense because Woody would never walk out of her own home. On previous occasions when they fought, Woody would always kick Steven out of the house. She wouldn't have walked out of her own home and left him there.
Steven never did report her missing. She was reported missing by her employer (St. Charles Medical Center), where she worked as a respiratory therapist. She was a very dependable employee and never failed to show up for work without calling in beforehand.
Hopefully this means they are closer to finding her.
