Husband of missing Bend woman arrested

Bend police are now calling the disappearance of Lori "Woody" Blaylock a "homicide."

Police now report the "date of incident" to be Wednesday, Oct. 27. That's a day before the 48-year-old woman's husband said she left the couple's Northeast Genet Court house – in the darkness with a sling-bag over her shoulder and a mere sweater to keep her warm.

Court documents were unavailable today because of the Veteran’s Day holiday. Jail records show that Blaylock is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Deschutes County Circuit Court.

Residents Along N. Santiam River Asked to Search Property

BEND, Ore. -- Police detectives released disturbing new details late Thursday about a Bend man's alleged murder of his wife, saying they believe Lori Blaylock's body was disposed of along or in the North Santiam River between Marion Forks and Idanha, along Highway 22.

Residents in that area were asked to search their property and contact police with whatever they find.

Detectives believe Blaylock disposed of his wife's body in the area between Marion Forks and the town of Idanha along Highway 22 in Marion County. Her body may have been disposed of in the North Santiam River. The area of focus includes the forestland and river both east and west of the town of Idanha. The time period when this likely occurred was between Tuesday October 26th and Sunday, October 31st.

I guess from previously living in the Bend area, it really stands out to me the area they are searching in.. very rual, dense..

The map is not that great but you can see how the terrain is...

Lori Blaylock is described as:

White, female, 48 years of age, 5-7, 150 lbs., Brown hair, last seen wearing a black sweater with white stripes down each sleeve, jeans, white shoes. Missing Person flyer attached to this release.

Anyone traveling in this area during the noted times, should report any sightings of the suspect or the vehicle and utility trailer possibly used in this crime.

Business owners along this route that have surveillance cameras installed in their businesses are asked to review the footage and report anything possibly connected to this investigation.

Anyone finding Ms. Blaylock's body should call 9-1-1 immediately.

Police and Volunteers Still Searching for Lori Blaylock

Detectives have spent the last two days searching the Santiam River area in Marion County, looking for the body of missing Bend woman, Lori Blaylock.

Residents in the quiet towns had no idea their riverfront properties were the center of a murder investigation.
"Nope they (police) didn't come say anything," Idanha resident, Donald Hinkley said. "They kept it all quiet, I heard over the scanner there were detectives from Bend and Salem up here, and that's all I know."

Idanha resident Melissa Collier says she disappointed police didn't inform locals of the search.
"If search and rescue had come and say, 'Hey we do need some help trying to find her body...' Collier said. "There'd be a lot of people out here that would be walking up and down the river, and keeping their eyes open."

Police said Blaylock's body could have been tossed into the rushing water of the Santiam River as far back as Oct. 26th.
The river is running high and fast and residents question why they are just now finding out about the search.
"We know the river pretty much by heart from Marion Forks to Idanha," Idanha resident Eric Gette said. "We know all the big rapids, possible hang up spots and all that."

Steven Blaylock Faces Murder Charge - Search for Body Continues

The case surrounding the murder of Lori Blaylock continued on two fronts today.

"You did unlawfully and intentionally cause the death of another human being, Lori Blaylock," said Judge Perkins.

In court, steven blaylock was arrainged on murder charges.

Along Highway 22, between Idanha and Marion Forks, the search for Lori's body continues. Neighbor's are asked to search their own property.

Steven Blaylock appeared in court through a video link from the Deschutes County jail on Friday. He did not speak during the brief proceedings.

Jon Springer, Blaylock's attorney, says prosecutors plan to take the case to a grand jury next week.

If indicted, Blaylock will be arraigned on Nov. 19.

Blaylock faces one count each of murder and first-degree manslaughter.

BEND, Ore. -- Bend police detectives found clothing believed to be Lori Blaylock’s near the North Santiam River, but a weekend search involving a dive team, raft trip and cadaver dog failed to find the missing woman’s remains or other evidence in the apparent murder, officers said Monday.

Lt. Ben Gregory said detectives obtained information Friday that led them to believe suspect Steven Blaylock, 46, placed his 48-year-old wife’s body in the river, about 4 ½ miles downstream from (north of) Marion Forks.
Late Friday evening, detectives found clothing, including a black and white sweater, believed to belong to Lori Blaylock in the area, some distance from the river, under a tree and covered with debris, Gregory said. But her pants, shoes and purse were not found.

On Saturday, detectives assisted by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office and a dive team, searched a one-mile stretch of the river down to Whitewater River, also using a cadaver dog, Gregory said. But her body was not found, nor was any more evidence, he added.
