Very happy the authorities didn’t wait 30 years to seek answers. Thank you LE, Othram and Season of Justice. Hope there are not other young victims out there. The threat by this maniac is no longer. You got him!

On Feb. 9, 2026, Othram Laboratory told detectives the testing resulted in a presumed DNA match with Steven Bearden.

The Arkansas State Crime Laboratory told Paragould police March 5 that the male DNA from the victim’s sexual assault kit belonged to Bearden “with all scientific certainty,” according to the affidavit.

Bearden is charged with rape, a Class Y felony; kidnapping, a Class Y felony; and aggravated assault, a Class D felony. He is being held on a $1.5 million bond.
