Phone Calls and Phone Records

I missed this post the other day.....

They did follow up with DM.... he was on the prosecutions witness list but was never called, so we don't know anything more.

There was no "other" appointment.... that is the appointment she went too.... it was listed as Sippel because that is who called, but it was actually the Schmitz residence where she took the photo's because that is where the car was located. The defense used that fact in the trial to show that SA calling for Barb is really not that out of the ordinary, it was her van.... her name/account.

There is a Schmitz on Lineman Road, reference my post above.

I don't know if anyone is good with video, pausing, and stuff, but in one of the episodes (maybe #6?), Jodi is looking at the phone bill and talking about how Steven called her on the afternoon of 10/31 and sounded normal. The camera briefly zooms in on the bill and it seems like you should be able to read at least some of the entries there. I just couldn't pause it at the right part and it was making me too mad to keep trying.

I figured out where it is. Episode 4, around 29 minutes in. It seems like it ought to just pop out if someone could pause it at the right time. screen grab.jpg

 It says "Sippel"
Thanks Missy. I was trying to read it but kept seeing it as something like 'Digbel' and was thinking "Eh? There's someone we haven't heard about before" LOL.

OK, I found TH's towers.....BUT...I don't know who owns them and where they are located. :banghead::banghead:

That's amazing work! Do cell towers share services with TV and FM towers? The type on the ones you listed is either TV or FM. I know sometimes there are multiple services on one tower, so it might not be an issue.

I believe so.

Bad news, I think. These are not the antennas you're looking for. *Jedi wave*

I googled on the ODD870702X5 model number - there is just one hit:
http://www.fccbulletin.com/callsign/?q=K15FV-D

Note the antenna ID: 21112...
It's located a bit north of Santa Fe, NM.

My feeling is that the 21112/21103 etc are internal identifiers used by Cingular. The last digit would be the direction from the tower that the subscriber is located. There's a rundown on that here - http://people.csail.mit.edu/bkph/cellular_repeater_numerology.shtml

So really, the meat of the number is the 2111/2110/etc. part. I just don't know if this is an answerable equation without a database of Cingular's in-service and leased towers from 11/2005. It probably exists, but heck if I know how to lay hands on such a thing now.

If it is any help to you cellphone tower investigators: The Aaron Hernandez Trial contained very valuable, specific analysis and diagrams revealing how the Prosecution was able to isolate the victim's (Odin Lloyd) cellphone pings while the murderer Hernandez moved from the crime scene back to his estate.

Manitowoc's presentation would fall on 1 in a scale of 1-10 but that may be because Manitowoc was a trial in 2006 and the Hernandez trial was circa 2013-2014.

The testimony of the FBI analyst in Hernandez with his diagrams would be the first helpful source. Then the cellphone company reps and their documents would be second.

Is there anyone on the forum who's in Manitowoc or Calumet County? I bet there's some smartphone app out there that will show you what Tower ID you're connected to.

On the other hand, maybe this is something we should leave to KZ and the current legal action so we don't inadvertently mess something up for them.

Of course after I post that above, I found an open source database of cell phone towers that includes tower IDs. I've been wrestling with it all day and I just now found something that may or may not fit.

At 44.138990 -87.772860 there is an AT&T tower with the Cell ID of 51109 and the LAC of 30996. Cingular bought AT&T a while back so their towers would theoretically be one and the same.

The reason this may be significant is that Teresa had tower pings from a cell ID of 21101/21103 with a L Cell (which I think may be the same as LAC) of 54096. Remember that because of how the cell signal is split, the last number just indicates which direction the signal came from.
OpenCellID_-_antenna_segments.jpg
(Note that I have read the numbering actually starts with 1 being north/northeast, 2 being southeast/southwest, and 3 being southwest/north.)

So the main number I think we would look at would be the 2110. But all the cell ID numbers on her bill start with a '2' - maybe the 2 isn't significant, either? The 110 in the middle of the tower on her bill corresponds with the 110 on the tower I found. And the '96' is the same on the end of both the L numbers.

Why this is interesting to me is, if she were unable to find the Zipperers or decided to push them off and go to the Averys, at the 1:52 call she could be west of that tower (sector 3, 21103). She'd do her thing at the Averys, then head back south towards the Zipperers by 2:41 (sector 1, 21101).

There's a theory that the Zipperers had a vicious dog, and a lot of stuff about their stories not adding up, hostility during questioning, a weird call-in from an officer about needing animal control and finding a burn pile that had an entire bracelet in it... things that make you go hmm. There are theories about every single person involved in this case. There will probably be a theory about me before the night is out.

On the other hand, it's ENTIRELY possible that I am totally stretching and trying to make this very scant data fit a "pet" theory. But I'm going to see if I can find a X192X tower somewhere around Avery Salvage.

You can, too.

Been there, done that! I think I actually posted the link in this thread somewhere!

LOL Good Luck! I hope you find more info that I did! Here is to cheering you on!

Just curious where you read about the dog needing animal control and finding a burn pile with the bracelet. I had not heard that before. What that over at the GZ's house?

Ha, I read through the thread a while ago but must have missed it. This is what happens when you lurk for too long. :P Sorry about that!

The call is in the compilation of MCSO calls here - - around 25 minutes in or so. Some interesting nuggets in there.
