Besides illegal or dangerous items, contraband is anything prohibited-- encompasses items specifically forbidden by the warden and/or bailiff responsible for the inmate.

Earlier, there was a hearing with testimony to discuss allowing a covered leg shackle, and even BK's use of a felt-tip pen during trial. Denying table art would not surprise me. I remember Sarah Boone had a long list of wants for trial that were denied "contraband" including spiral notebooks, mascara, and fruit roll-up snacks.

If BK had a photocopy of the object at his defense table, this would be the equivalent of what he's allowed inside his jail cell. However, based on the size/over population of the Ada County Jail, the
inmates here are likely prohibited from displaying their photocopies on the walls or bunks, and probably have to keep them on their desk/table. JMO

I remember during the Murdaugh trial his sister gave him a book in the Courtroom and it was considered contraband. Judge Newman made the family sit farther back for the rest of the trial.

[…]

That's due to some antics that are said to have happened earlier in the week. A source tells CNN that on Wednesday, Murdaugh's sister, Lynn Murdaugh Goettee, passed a book up to him without sharing it with the victim advocate, just five minutes after she'd already "been admonished," per the news outlet. Murdaugh was able to get the book, John Grisham's legal-suspense novel The Judge's Rules, back to his jail cell before it was confiscated as contraband. State Judge Clifton Newman, who's overseeing the trial, also was made aware of an obscene gesture apparently made Monday by Murdaugh's surviving son, Buster Murdaugh, in court, per Colleton County Clerk of Court Rebecca Hill.

I don't know what the contraband was. I never thought of an object.
Is there any link to MSM anywhere that says that "contraband" was brought into the court room by either BK or his defense team? I thought that was just some you-tuber's opinion/speculation.

It was questionable in my opinion.
Even if it was allowed, she should have advised him against it.
I realize he didn’t care, but she should have. It could have and, I think, did, scar her reputation. If he insisted on bringing it, she should have refused to sit with him. That’s on her.
Refusing to sit with your client, who is going to die in prison (rightfully), over a peice of paper?

I get that he is evil, but some posts here are a little too "and anyone who dare breathed the same air as him is worthless"

Because most people casually followed this case, they aren't online for ages analyzing every picture from that courtroom. I doubt a defense attorney part of a very high profile case has any job worries ahead of her.

Arrogance, pure arrogance on display with him. You would have thought he may have been told to look less arrogant, if nothing else. He is just beyond words for me.
Who do you think would have told him? His smirking attorneys?

That whole table of people were disgusting.

So, if I’m interpreting this right, BK had an actual object that looked like the photo on the table. A stain glass or ceramic something. He wanted to bring that into the courtroom with him but it was deemed contraband so AT xeroxed a copy for him.
Oh my gosh! How can she possibly be blind enough to not realize how that would be interpreted and how disrespectful it was!
BK was big boy enough to slaughter four people in 15 minutes, he doesn’t need a “teddy bear” to get him through sentencing.
I’ve given AT a lot of passes due to her being a defense attorney, but no more. Unforgivable.

From what I've read, AT does seem to be pretty caring towards MAK and MK. I suspect if it was a photocopy of a ceramic heart or a drawing of a heart that his parents had given him, that Anne copied it and gave it to him to have during the sentencing not for BK's sake but for his parents.

Since I have not seen any of the reporters there mention seeing BK's dad there at the sentencing, it may have been something specifically from Dad so that in some small way he could at least "be there" for his son. I can completely see AT having no problem with that, and I don't either. Supporting your kid doesn't mean condoning your kid.

It could have been slipped into a legal pad so it would be there, like a woobie to comfort him, if she thought the widdle boy needed that.
I don't know what was worse, AT's coddling behavior towards this murderer all throughout this (almost) trial, including the 'black heart paper copy' at the table in the end--whateverthehellthatwas, or... the grinning Cheshire Cat next to her at sentencing.... 🤔

Oh i’m sure she’ll get the DP cases. I respect that she kept the Loser off death row. Her choices along the way pushed the envelope.

I hope we learn more about the routes he took those 23+ times. Will we know if he paused at the house?

My thoughts have been that he started driving around looking for the right house(s) for window-peeping, easy access, desirable victims - and 1122 fit the bill. I think he spent time parked above the house with the view through the windows.

After he picked the house, maybe he did then figure out who lived there and followed on social media, but I really do think it was the house that drew him, at least initially.

And I do suspect he slithered inside during at least one nighttime test run, when roommates were sleeping. Or, at least lurked in the yard as Kaylee noticed. Some of DM's nervousness might have been her noticing/hearing/sensing someone was messing around with the house in the weeks before the murders. (I hope she and BF are some day able to sleep well.)

I'm curious if he also lurked around other houses.

This is from my personal timeline:

July 9, 2022 BK was invited to an afternoon pool party in nearby Moscow, Idaho, according to three witnesses who met him there. He was awkward at the pool party, ogling a married woman. Parked his butt by the DJ and overstayed his welcome.
Got a couple phone numbers and bolted, oddly early.

Between July 9, 2022 and November 7th, between 10 pm and 4am -- 23 separate times, was within 100 meters of the house on 23 occasions.

(And now we know it was 23+ times).

@Warwick regarding links between BK's use of SM stalking and women he had an interest in

Banfield says that one of the new MPD documents shows that BK had SM photos of a female student on his phone, one he used to try & sit close to in class.
This woman says she didn't even realise until she saw herself on the Dateline episode!
( No idea why cops didn't image search her & then call her. Did he have pix of too many women?)

At 12 mins in this show

Given the specific wording used in the report, I get the impression that while her Insta had been public in 2022, she had changed it (and all her socials) to private/friends only after the murders. If she did that before they arrested BK and got his phone/phone records, they would have had a very difficult time getting a reverse image search to hit on her.

idk if this is allowed, but Murphy's instagram has a new post and it's very sweet.

I'm sorry to be a pest, but where can I look at the documents that have been released so far?

I found it interesting that BK lied to LE about his TA position. He said he would be going back to WSU as a TA, although he had already been fired. Is that one doc the only one where we have seen even a glimpse of his personality, instead of other’s opinions on him? No interviews, no confessions, nothing on tape other than guilty, yes or no or respectfully decline.
He cared about his dog, he did not want to apply for programs that required the GRE, wasn’t sure about God. I wonder if he felt that they were equals. There is a lot to unpack in their small talk.
Yeah moo he was definately B-essing both himself and the investigators about the TA situation in that interview, which does not surprise me. He is one dangerous and highly disturbed individual, but moo the lying is probably something more simple - a compensation and denial to salve his ego; even at a time when he is freshly arrested, that transcript reads as if he was still invested in trying to impress those officers or perhaps he believed he could or wanted to meet them on the same level and appear as 'normal' as he imagined they were. He wanted to keep talking but at the same time was clearly fully cognisant of remaining silent on the topic of why he was really there. Just my rambling thoughts from the transcript and ofcourse opinion only.

On the paucity of first hand info; after that initial interview his defense stepped in, so there were not going to be anymore interviews with LE. Then the non -dissemination order was issued to protect the ongoing investigation and a fair trial. I'm pretty sure he was a party to that order along with LE and the attorneys, though Inal.

Go to City of Moscow, ID website. That’s where I found them

"Victims mutilated and 'unrecognizable'.

Documents reveal new details in Idaho murders.

Over 300 documents were released Wednesday
after Bryan Kohberger was sentenced to life in prison
for the brutal 2022 murders of four University of Idaho students."

Reportedly, BK wrote a note on the backside of the subject "art object" and gave it to AT at the end of his sentencing.

Clearly, BK is the weakest, most cowardly killer known to Idaho! He slithered into a dark household to kill defenseless young women-- and an unexpected male, while they slept and could not defend themselves. He did not go looking for a street fight with a worthy opponent. He's a cheat, a bully.

The idea that BK would need to carry a prop with him to appear in Court in the daylight hours, cameras rolling, while dressed in prison garb and shackles for the first time, should come as no surprise to anybody! IMO, better for him to have his "paper prop" than refuse to leave his cell where sentencing could have been postponed-- awaiting a Court Order requiring deputies to bring him into the courtroom-- using force if necessary. And if AT's effort facilitated the timely, uninterrupted sentencing of BK on 7/23, I say thank you! It's done, he's done. End of story...

And I especially agree with Judge Hippler -- please don't encourage media. No attention-- he deserves the Casey Anthony treatment. MOO
