Having access to a tablet, tv, and email is ridiculous. Give him books.
Unfortunately, books are fading no matter how wonderful and or that they are better places to keep knowledge.
MOO Tablet time in prison is at core being used to deal for safe behavior by inmates for the safety of prison staff.

I believe the New York Post article, “Secret documents in Bryan Kohberger case, including pics of Idaho murder victims, could be made public” (linked via an X post by @Dotta), refers to the August 4, 2025 court document, Order Regarding Sealed Documents. Here’s a screenshot of the first page of the two-page document, with the relevant paragraph highlighted:

The State’s exhibits for the sentencing hearing are no secret since Bill Thompson showed them during the live-streamed hearing.

This clip shows the part of the sentencing hearing during which Thompson shows four of the State’s exhibits mentioned in the court document:

Although the livestream camera doesn’t show the projection of the first photo (of Maddie), we can tell it is NOT a bloody crime scene photo, or a photo from the morgue—OF COURSE! We do get to see projections of the subsequent three photos of the murdered victims, all showing them when they were alive, happy, and lovely.

Of course, the clip I shared above does not show the State’s fifth exhibit—the group photo of the six victims, including DM and BF—but that photo had to be taken before the murders, as well.

The short piece, Prosecutor shows victims' photos as families weep, by ABC11 describes the relevant part of the sentencing hearing, and mentions the joyous photo of all six victims:

Note that on page 2 of the Order Regarding Sealed Documents, none of the listed court documents that will possibly be unsealed soon refer to any victim photos.

So the New York Post was accurate when they reported in the article linked above:

But, unless the New York Post skipped the sentencing hearing, they were certainly misleading when they stated:

I sincerely doubt that Judge Hippler will ever release any photo of the murdered victims taken after their vicious stabbing deaths, even if they are contained in earlier sealed court documents not yet under review.

I agree but plenty of crime scene photos have made it on the internet. JBR, recently the pics of Abby and Libby from the Delphi trial and these were minor children.

I never suggested the State would release the CS photos on their own volition, I just hope they're not leaked to SM or Media. I do know for sure that I would not view them period. Ever.

No doubt KB would have gotten the DP. Then... the core of the case, the DNA on the sheath would become the focal point of appeal.
BK chose a better day to day existence for the rest of his life in prison over a chance of a successful appeal at some point.

In believe Thompson foresaw the potential of a supreme court IGG ruling that could at some point affect the conviction. Its conservative math, the certain outcome vs. the better but more risky outcome of DP.
It is not actual justice and that is why there is a reaction - but the risk of a free BK with a fan club is gagging yet it would have been a possibility without the deal.

It is crazy that people violate their job confidentiality, money? Being important for a minute?
A dispatcher just got fired for leaking critical info in the murder of the Brinks on Devils Den Trail. That idiot leaked the MODEL of CAR the police were looking for, alerting a murderer that his vehicle had been fully ID'd!
Luckily the killer was a dummy and didn't use the info to his advantage.

I don’t believe for one minute photos of the deceased will be released.

As heart broken (and I think actually traumatized) as Judge H. and Bill T. and his team are, they would never permit that. They would not permit release out of respect for the kids, their families, and all others victimized by these crimes. OMO. Not to mention it would be in such poor taste — who in the h€|| would be crass and mean enough to publish them. OMG!

MOO. MOO. MOO.

I agree, and while some do not agree with Thompson’s decision and put intentions on him that do not reflect his life of service- I don’t.

While we are far away from this case, he was not, Judge H was not, the community was not- they lived it every day and know it in ways I never will.
If they have the power to keep this case as closed off from the public as they did, I think they can prevent those photos from coming out, or at least try.

Still, was it known by Bill T and Judge H that BK could file an appeal? Even if the plea deal said he was waiving that Constitutional Right?

I am not sure a person, even in custody, can negotiate away their Constitutional Rights

If it is legally sound for him to do so, the families should have known when the plea deal was crafted. If BK does file an appeal, it isn’t like his decision will be a big secret!
I do not know if it is legal or possible- but if he can then Thompson knew that and my views about him become very different very different!

Yes, gone are the days where such evidence can be kept in a box in a warehouse, locked away.
Digital can be around the world twice in seconds!

As this case has officially come to a close, and several posters have begun to peel off, while others stay to ride out the unsealing of documents and such, it seems to be a good time to say how much I have appreciated the many thoughtful and intelligent posts from so many of you here. Many have been here since the beginning, and many joined along the way, but all have contributed. I have "known" some of you for years, and some I have shared a case with for the first time, but I feel I have come to know you as well.

It is almost always, I think, one case that brings people here for the first time, and it is often a "local" case. For me, it was Brittanee Drexel, in 2009, as a lurker, because I grew up vacationing at Myrtle Beach, and know it like the back of my hand, and Kelli Bordeaux, a soldier at Fort Bragg, only a short distance from where I lived, who caused me to finally join, some three years later. To those of you who are local to the Moscow area, thank you especially for your input here. You offered a valuable perspective that the rest of us just cannot have. And to all who joined here for the first time, no matter where you came here from, you mattered too. Please consider staying. It would be wonderful to think that there will never be another monster like BK, but one only has to read the headlines or watch the news to know that there will be. Sadly, there will always be another missing person that needs to be found, or another murdered victim who cries out for justice. I hope that you will stay and help give them a voice. JMO

I would like to think that is true, but I very highly doubt that it is. Most college-aged kids are just like most of us were when we were that age. They think they are invincible, and if they are even aware of any of the particulars of, or aware of the murders at all, they probably think that it could not happen to them. "Not here, not me". I would think that around UI and WSU, the murders will be long remembered, but I fear in many campuses around the country, they have already been, or soon will be pushed out of memory. I do hope that parents remind their students of these murders, and safety precautions they should always take, before they drop them off to begin a new school year. It may save someone's life someday.
I didn't see myself as being invincible at all as a student! A lot of my fellow students were worried about getting from A to B in the evening even though in my final years I was in a small university in a small town.

I didn't go to university in the US though and probably most of us had tried out alcohol in highschool and didn't feel a need to drink so much at university. MOO

So much damage done in such a short amount of time.
To watch it and to know what was taking place as the time lapsed: Chilling.

Ditto, SteveP, well said!
I think I found WP during Kiely Rodni, or was it Dylan Rounds? Not sure
But I’m no newbie, jumped in during the too near Yogurt Shop Murders, Austin 1991
And stayed as I was pulled into the OJ trials 1995
Hoping no more cases, but I’m sure I’ll ‘see’ Y’All on the B-side,
Best-

From the article linked by @MassGuy above from the Statesman, neither the Prosecution, the Defense nor Judge Hippler will be privy to any of the findings. I wonder who is doing the investigation?

<snipped>

“There is a special prosecutor, and I can tell you that we are not included or privy to what the investigation is doing, nor is the defense, is my understanding, nor is Judge Hippler,” Thompson told the Statesman by phone. “It’s being overseen completely independently, and whatever the investigation is doing is confidential. That’s what we were instructed by the judge.”

Bolded and italicized by me.

As per your snippet, @girlhasnoname, I don’t read where the findings of the Dateline investigation will not be shared with the prosecutor, defense, or Judge Hippler, but rather the ongoing investigation details will not be shared.

Am I misunderstanding?

And... you're not going to share a link to the watchable video? Do we need to bribe you with donuts or something? lol

I think its ambiguous tbh because if the investigation leads nowhere it's all put to bed as it says in the next paragraph here :

' Unless charges are eventually filed and someone prosecuted for suspected violations of the gag order, the public is not entitled to information about such sealed legal proceedings, Idaho courts spokesperson Nate Poppino told the Statesman.'

I'd have preferred that Hippler had some oversight into the course of the investigation rather than just the end result

The magistrate was selected in a closed hearing when the Defense called for an investigation in mid June. That's all in a separate article which can be accessed at the same link

I have a question, If Papa Rogers account had no connection to BK, is the account avatar a dead ringer for him? It seems unbelievable that it's the avatar that just looks like him. Maybe someone working at the police dept knew the basic physical description from DM's statement.
