It kind of sounds like was living alone in a bus on the property.

Family of suspect in police shootings comes forward

By

Victoria Police have accounted for the whereabouts of the suspect’s family following the fatal shootings of two on-duty police officers.

Dezi Freeman’s partner and children went to a police station late last night. No evidence suggests the family was with the suspect after the incident, according to Paul Hogan, a Victoria Police spokesman.

“There’s nothing to suggest that the family was in the company of the suspect following the fatal shootings yesterday, well, let’s be frank, the murders yesterday, where two on-duty police officers were shot and killed, ” he said.

There is an ongoing, large-scale search for Freeman, the suspect allegedly responsible for the murders.
“My colleagues went to work yesterday and they didn’t get to come home. So if you know something, pick up the phone call triple zero. Call Crime Stoppers,” he said.

Who is Dezi Freeman? Alleged shooter’s background revealed

By

Dezi Freeman, a radicalised conspiracy theorist with a documented hatred for police, is the suspect in the fatal shooting of two police officers.

His erratic behaviour had become so extreme that his wife had expressed concern to a neighbour just a week before the incident.

Following the alleged murders, Freeman stole the officers’ guns and remains on the run, while his family is accounted for and safe.

What weapons does Dezi Freeman have?

By

The 56-year-old is armed with a home-made shotgun, a rifle and at least one handgun stolen from a slain officer, according to police sources not authorised to speak publicly.

Ten officers entered the property just after 10am to serve a search warrant, when three members were blasted with gunfire.

Police assure community they've got the 'best of the best' on the job

By Andi Yu

Senior constable Paul Hogan said that a "massive search" is "underway as we speak".

He reminded the people that live in Porepunkah to remain indoors, and also asked people to not travel into the area.

"I know that's an alarming thing to hear," he said.

"I can assure that we have plenty of police on the ground. We have the best of the best."

To anyone in the community who wants to move around the area, he issued this plea:

"Really consider what your movements are today and bear in mind that we have police that are trying to do their job."

Police plea with public: 'My colleagues went to work and didn't get to come home'
By Andi Yu

Senior constable Paul Hogan has asked the public to reach out via triple-zero or Crime Stoppers if they know anything that could help police track down alleged gunman Dezi Freeman.

"My colleagues went to work yesterday and they didn't get to come home," he said.

"So if you know something and you think that you've got information that could help...pick up the phone...you can remain anonymous."

"New details emerge about Officers shot dead.

One of the slain officers was just weeks away from retirement.

The two victims have been identified as a Melbourne-based member of Victoria Police’s Public Order Response Team
and a local officer stationed in Porepunkah.

A third officer survived after being shot in the leg
and is now receiving treatment at The Alfred hospital in Melbourne."

I read 10 police officers were there to see Freeman about historic sex offences.
Why so many and did the gunman know they were coming.
Surely a police sniffer dog can find them if the whole family then ran off into

Curious what was the warrant for, sending 10 LE seems they expected problems
It was part of a firearms prohibition order check.

The surviving wounded officer was from SOCIT (Sexual offences and child abuse investigation team).

It seems likely they were going to search Freeman's property which is why there may have been 10 officers, well that and his criminal history IMO

Jacinta Allan: 'A lot of people are feeling deep grief'

By Jesse Thompson

Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan has just appeared on ABC News Breakfast, where she's again offered her condolences to the loved ones of the two fallen police officers.

"I think it's important right now that while we wait for further details to come from Victoria Police, that we put our arms around the Victoria Police family," she says.

"A lot of people are feeling deep grief today.

"They're also going to work today to keep our communities safe."
