I mean no disrespect, but these people are 99% of the time not the "crazy nutjob cooker" types you think they are. Those are the loud few (like Freeman).

Most of them appear totally normal. Wouldn't even make a blip on the police's radar - or yours for that matter. And that's how they want it to be, they don't want to be ostracized or to become a target. They won't just bring these topics up with you. They will very carefully feel you out first.

This is why the prevalence of these beliefs is so underestimated.

I think the police are trying to get under his skin by calling him Dezi Filby (his real name). They did it in the presser just now. In other words "you are not a free man, Filby".

Two loud bangs were heard near the search zone about 3pm.

Smoke was then seen coming from a farm shed in a clearing close to the Rayner Track property.

The police chopper is circling the area as rain continues to pour.

Pity the radio doesn’t have a tracker in it …..

However, I can’t really see a surrender happening … not with him still being alive at the end of the process …. just my thoughts ….. but anything is possible…..

One possibility is that the loud bangs could be from LE "clearing" indoor areas that are unknown whether they are safe to enter with what's called a "flash bang" or grenade, or something similar:

From my perspective if, as you say, 99% of those people are the ones who lay low and don't want to be ostracized or become target, most likely they are also not going to be the ones harboring/helping someone in DF's position, putting themselves not only in the centre of a media circus, but also in the way of a sure criminal charge (one, I would add, that they'd certainly not dodge by claiming they do not identify with the name the government has assigned to them and stuff like that).

ETA: I guess my point is that even if those are not known to the police, they will not be the ones of interest IMO

Skiers advised to steer clear of snowy Mt Buffalo​

Police are advising skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts to avoid travelling to Porepunkah en route to the slopes, and to consider not travelling to the snow altogether.

“Please stay clear of Porepunkah, this is an area of significant police activity,” said superintendent Brett Kahan.

“There’s other alternative routes to the snow. You can go through Mount Beauty [or] Running Creek. But if you have an option not to go to the snow this weekend, take that option.”



Mount Buffalo is closed, Parks Victoria confirmed.
