Emergency warning issued for thunderstorms near the search area
By Melissa Brown
Authorities have just issued an
Emergency Warning for Victoria's Alpine Areas as
severe thunderstorms develop in the north-east.
It warns people to immediately move indoors to stay safe.
The weather bureau says destructive winds are likely to develop in some parts over the next several hours along with what it describes as "very dangerous" thunderstorms.
The warning says thunderstorms could create widespread debris, severely damage buildings, and bring down large trees and power lines.
The Emergency Warning covers the area coloured red in the map below.

Weather to affect search for Dezi Freeman
By Melissa Brown
Hail is now falling in Porepunkah.
The temperature has fallen to 6 degrees and rain is expected to increase.
The severe weather is expected to complicate the police operation to find the alleged gunman.
"It's already a tough area to search in the best of conditions and these police are really being hit with the worst of the worst weather for late winter," ABC journalist Erin Somerville has told the News Channel.
It's likely to hamper both the ground search and aerial capabilities.
