Blizzards and ‘destruction’ forecast for Victoria’s weekend weather

“Blizzards have been forecast for parts of Victoriaand residents have been warned to prepare for power outages and “destruction” as damaging winds are expected to lash the south-eastern states into the weekend.

Destructive winds, with gusts reaching up to 130km/h, were expected to push further into the eastern states on Saturday, bringing showers, hail and isolated thunderstorms.

Snowfall as low as 600-metre elevation was expected in Victoria on Saturday along with strong winds. Blizzard conditions were forecast for the alpine areas above 1,200-metres.

Snow showers and possible small hail was forecast for Friday and early Saturday morning at Mount Hotham, after a week of severe weather in Victoria’s high country that has added complications to the ongoing search for suspected gunman Dezi Freeman in Porepunkah.

Winds of up to 113km/h had already been recorded at Mount Hotham on Friday.”

Emergency weather warning removed

By Melissa Brown

Authorities have lifted an emergency warning that was issued for dangerous thunderstorms in Victoria's north-east.

Severe weather continues to develop across a wide area of Victoria.

Storms continue to affect a smaller section of the north-east, now further towards the border with New South Wales.

I'd pay to see that, S I cried laughing watching him scupper himself at the Wangaratta court..

The best bit is when the cop flicks his paper back at the end. :p

I'd love to know what the police psychiatrist is advising the cops on.

I just hope they are better than the " psychiatrist who cannot be named " the cops had for the Lindt Siege.

He must have been furious to be lumbered with the sexual offences AGAINST A CHILD charge coming up, that would ruin all his cred around Myrtleford, Punks and Bright and possibly it had something to do with the church he attends, where he was 'very helpful'

In the mountains for work, Vadim de Waart’s good fortune ran out

By

Vadim de Waart will be farewelled by his colleagues on September 5 and given full police honours.

As Cassandra Morgan writes, the Belgian-born officer’s friends have recalled him as a gentle and fun-loving man.

Vadim de Waart was the kind of guy who could never quite believe his luck.

He could get talking to a stranger during a travel disaster, and within minutes, there would be an offer of a bed or a warm meal. Years after a relationship ended, his former partners would still consider him family.

A deeply sentimental romantic, his capacity for connection was so boundless that it extended far beyond the typical limits of love and friendship.

“The fact that [I’m close with another of his former partners] shows you how kind, sweet and engaged he is with his partners,” former partner of seven years Marine Piersotte said.

“[He made] the most out of life.”
As funeral details are confirmed for the officer, read Cassandra Morgan’s full story here.

I am not so sure,,,.. it seems the wife and the son are jibbing about assisting the police, ... if it was his child surely the mum would be ropable and combative with him.....I really think it's someone from this church outfit he regularly attends... where as a little old lady said, he was 'very helpful'... whatever that may mean...

These people live an alternative life. It wouldn’t be the first time by far that a mother has defended a father who SA his child

Police to be recalled from manhunt for city protests

“Amid the search for the man accused of ambushing and killing two police officers in Victoria’s High Country, two protests in Melbourne are set to test the limits of Victoria Police resources.

A planned anti-immigration march, called the March for Australia, is set to coincide with the weekly pro-Palestine march through Melbourne CBD on Sunday, diverting police away from the hunt for alleged murderer Dezi Freeman in its crucial first
weekend.”

They need to stay the course. All too convenient these marches are happening this weekend. Gives him ample time to evade
