It was reported downstairs that a call went out from GGS' residence earlier. Not sure what it was for, but could be a trespasser.

:snooty: We need a training course around here teaching how to disagree without being argumentative. Somebody use to have a link "How to Post" in their siggy line, but haven't seen it around for a while.

Let us know if you hear anything about the call, if it's on the radio going out through LE scanners, there's something to it. I pray peace over this family, it's got to be tough. The slightest thing could stir up such raw emotions, especially now that we're getting closer and closer to the truth of the matter.

Excellent points TxLady. The cops don't owe the public anything about a search or an investigation until there is something they can back up with proof. If a body is found, there will not be an annoucement that it is Haleigh until positive identification is made. That happens all the time. And, that can take hours or days.
LE does lie to the probing public and the news media in order to keep the focus on their jobs. They even lie to suspects who are being questioned. And, there is nothing we can do about their comments true or false.
The state of Florida, thanks to its legislation, has some very liberal laws when it comes to releasing crime information - but that is only after an arrest has been made or a suspect has been taken into custody. For instance with the Caylee Anthony case. Which I think has spoiled us all. For those who want facts now it aint going to happen until the investigation or the search has something they can legally report. To do so would jeopardize the case. And do we really want to chance having the person(s) responsible for this crime to be able to wiggle out of a charge or conviction because too much was revealed before it was legal to do so.
I too want facts now but I have to remember the cops are in charge and doing their job. Hope this post has helped.

I don't like to be lied to especially by LE. It says a lot about the department as a whole for them to openly lie regardless of the circumstances. Like a poster said earlier, "No Comment" should have been all that was said instead of making things up.

They have the area roped off so JQP or the media could not hamper their efforts and it is a non-issue if there are 9,000 or more people over a mile away trying to get the real story.

ETA: They obviously let a camera crew in earlier or we would not have the video of them walking the pond. Are they playing favorites with media outlets? How did they get the exclusive right to tape them searching?

It would have nice to inform the families on both sides, but no they heard rumors and stuff on the internet and phones calls and LE lied to Marie as of yesterday saying there was no connection to the search with Haleigh. Mrs. Sykes had to go to the site herself to find out what's going on and was treated badly.That is unacceptable that is no way to treat family of a missing child.

She went to the press about her complaints I hope they put her interview on the news later tonight.

Of all the cases followed here and over the years learning techniques and protocol of LE, never have I seen this type of behavior in misleading, down right lying to the public nor the treatment of the missing's family.

Have we forgotten the intricate details of the Elizabeth Smart investigation and the immediate searches upon her disappearance and what we learned about the macho ego cop who led the case in which its proven because of him, Elizabeth could have more likely than not been found the very next day. We have testimony from other LE, searchers, and I believe family who acknowledges the fiasco of that case.

So it is very important LE do their jobs right. I'm still reeling over the taped conversation I heard with Putnam county's official Bowling admitting on tape when asked did they and why did they reveal forensic evidence of the case that was classified and not shared with anyone else to Crystals attorney Kim Picazzio, in which he replied, "We can give any information we choose to bring a logical conclusion to an investigation". :waitasec: :furious: :banghead:

Never have I ever heard of a LE agency giving attorneys priviledged on going information during an investigation before anyone is even accused or arrested, or set to go to trial. Never!!!

Since I came back to this case, first three weeks, stay tuned, then this is ending my third week back, so for six months I was out of the loop, LE imo hasn't handled this case correctly. They allowed the public through some of their own doings, assume incorrect information, especially about some of the family members. Not holding proper regular news conferences with updates etc...

Only since new investigators got appointed in the case has things started popping and begin to move forward. I think when this case is said and done, we're going to be hearing about some shoddy police work that has the smells of corruption.

Does anyone know the new investigators name, is he the lead man? To the best of anyones knowledge, is the same detectives still on the case since the beginning? TIA

It was a 10-45 call which means for the deputy to call her. I haven't heard anything since except he was cleared off that call.

The larger problem is when this goes to trial (if it ever goes to trial)...will the public all of the sudden forget the BS shoved down their throats by LE? They have insulted JQP's intelligence in this case time after time. How will this play to a jury eventually? Will they believe anything that LE has to offer or to say about the person they believe is responsible?

If 18 months from now whoever did this to this child has been convicted in a fair trial with good evidence, people won't give a rat's butt if LE lied to the media or to the public. Their loyalty and efforts are toward Haleigh. Not some reporter. And not us.

Also coming out at trial: the previous false news reports about no search was being conducted for Haleigh, and then onto it's about pot plant finds. LE should have just said "No Comment" and we'll give a presser when ready.

I think in this case we have alot of on line crime message board posters contacting the players in this case, as LE keeps repeatedly saying their being flooded with calls and contacts which I think is wrong, and has pushed LE to give non credible info to the public. I've seen post after post here stating they have contacted the media, LE, specific player names calling and writing them. This kind of behavior imo has caused some of LE responses. Not only LE has been making these comments, but so has the media. I've seen nothing positive come out of hounding these agencies that we know has been done.

All I can say for now is: I really hope it doesn't rain. With all the time it's going to take to drain this pond, I would truly hate to see any delays in getting answers.

My heart is breaking thinking Haleigh might be found in there.

My heart is breaking too but, in a way I think this is just what Haleigh needs to have happen. I don't care if they drain every pond in the State of Florida...if it leads to finding this angel.

I believe you're right, but still can't help to think that "no comment" may have fueled even more speculation and calls. Even though it may have been more "politically correct" not to say anything...these guys would have been damned if they do and damned if they didn't. JMO

PUTNAM COUNTY, FL -- Concerned neighbors say they haven't received any information from police as to why they are draining a pond in their neighborhood.
Dean Leplant walks his dog around this pond almost every morning. He's lived in the area for 15 years. On his walk today, he noticed a lot more commotion than normal. He says this pond is typically quiet.
Today, two big machines are draining water from the pond

“We’re just pretty much frustrated the Sheriff’s Office doesn’t let us know anything. They don’t tell us anything, we have to find out on our own. Do our own investigating to find out what the Sheriff’s Office is up to,” said Sykes.


Annette said when she first heard Sheriff’s Deputies were searching a heavily wooded area in south Palatka off Highway 19, she headed down there. She says when she asked deputies if the search was for Haleigh, they lied to her.

I think everyone must be reading downstairs just wanted to give a quick update for anyone not there...not much new as far as confirm -able facts. I have been listening to the scanner though(magine that!) and there was a little buzz about Timmy C possibly being in Satsuma...again that is not confirmed. I will post anything I hear significant to Haleigh and the search up here. I am reading and hearing a few rumors but I will not post them here.

This is all correct, when PJ's started this thread, we have no LE confirmation or media articles to go on as fact, so it was rumor, but a magnitude of rumor, making it more about credibility versus rumor.
Then within thirty minutes of starting the thread, all heck broke loose and we began to get real confirmation. Not from LE I want to add. I'm really disappointed in these two talking heads Bowling and John Q Public, though I appreciate their position and know it's importance, still it went overboard with lies too deceptive befitting a professional LE agency.


I think we know how to handle these two talking heads from Satsuma LE, whatever they say and release thru the media for the publics consumption, reverse it and believe the opposite and then we'll have the true correct facts of what's going on.



If this is true, shame on LE. In no way, no amount of circumstances is it appropriate to be rude to any of the family members of Haleigh. If we find this to be true, when this is all said and one, everyone can breathe, I will personally shoot an email describing my disdain in such treatment. We should always be on our very best concerning victims, willing to go the extra mile to be of service to them, their the ones LE is getting paid to help. I admire LE, but in this case, not so much. They need to keep treating the public like we're stupid. Just say we're not releasing information for proper reasons.

I'm thinking since we don't have the Croslins, Tommy or Lindsay his wife crying foul about the trumped up bail bond cost, obviously to keep him in protective custody, the reason is he has revealed Haleigh's whereabouts, evidentuary locations of evidence and when LE gets their hands on this evidence, and Haleigh, they don't need Ron committing another crime by going after him. Their awfully quiet to a fault about him still being in jail and over that bond amount. I think this is why.

I think the same thing about Hank! I feel right now he's being protected and I too understand why. He's given LE this information that may very well break this case wide open and he's afraid now. But why would he be afraid? IMO,1) He's afraid that once Ron finds out what really went on the night Haleigh disappeared Ron will probably try to kill him, meaning he had involvement in his daughter's disappearance. Or 2) He's afraid when Ron finds out that he told LE about EVERBODY"S involvement and was told not to, Ron might have some of his friends try to kill him. To me Ron made that perfectly clear with the ratgate incident. IMO Ron cannot find out that Hank is behind this whole ordeal at the pond which is, I believe, the reason the police called it a Coincidence.

Kool Look, I'm a bit surprised by your comments that you already know who the jurors will be and that they will distrust the cops' testimony. Do you really believe the prosecution will willingly seat a jury full of people who will question how the police reacted to media questions while an investigation was underway?
I find it hard to believe how that subject could even come into the testimony. It will be the suspect on trial, not whether the cops said "No comment" or not to the media.
I do appreciate that you are fully involved with this case and want to see that things are done according to policy. But can't you see a way to give LE a break that their creditability is only to be judged when they release an official statement to the media/public.

I also have no issues with LE lying or flip-flopping.
I wouldn't even be surprised if much of this event (if there IS no hard evidence there) that some of this is an exercise in pressuring Misty while she's already under pressure.

When do we think the pond will be drained? Sunday afternoon or Monday? I read somewhere that it's 5 acres about 5 feet deep.

And if he and his people provide good evidence, lawfully obtained, to a district attorney who then obtains a conviction of a guilty party, he'll win in a landslide. I would question a voter who votes against a law enforcement candidate because he lied to a report or wasn't forthcoming to the public while in the midst of draining a pond looking for a murdered child.
