"They seem to be going in the house interrogating some people," one neighbor told 10News. "Twenty minutes later, they brought two women put them in squad car [and] took them away."

It's unclear what happened to the women.

In my ongoing search about the 1:00 AM music, I think I have narrowed it down to News 10, I found this.......

IMO
The 10News I-Team obtained court records that detailed a delinquent payment on a La Jolla rental house involving Dina Shacknai. She rented the property for a month in 2009 for $32,500.
It remains unclear why Dina Shacknai rented it when she and her then-husband owned their Coronado mansion

Also from the above-mentioned article..........$32,500 for a month's renta???l......what most people would be very happy to make for a 1 year sarlary!!

I keep wondering if any of the meds that JS manufactured ..if injected in a high quantity could act as a paralytic of any kind. It prolly would not show up on toxicology reports. I dont know enough about pharmacology to tell. And I am not a chemist.

From your link:

Investigators used a search warrant Wednesday afternoon to enter the property to finish their probe. They said the woman died "violently."
"I'm not really prepared to comment on what led us to believe that, but the scene does indicate some type of very suspicious circumstances," Curran told a local TV station on Wednesday.

There have been conflicting reports about how the boy was injured. A neighbor told 10News that the boy, whose name was not released, was hurt by a falling light fixture and is still in the hospital. The boy's grandmother, meanwhile, has said that the boy was injured in a fall down some stairs. According to the grandmother, the boy's father and mother have been spending a lot of time with him in the hospital.

10News reporter Rachel Bianco said that investigators removed an outdoor table with a missing leg, what appeared to be a large painting and a full evidence bag from the home Thursday morning.

A painting? Interesting...that would be indoors, you'd think...why a painting?

I'm sorry, I don't follow your response to my hypothetical. Could you give a little more info to this newbie?

Maybe my use of the term "strangled by rope" was incorrect?

Thanks, I'm so confused!

Sorry I prolly wasnt clear...if she was stangled by rope...killer would have to be standing over her with the rope tight for at least 10 minutes in same location for the marks to look like marking on neck of someone that has been hung. Most strangulations are done where the marking is straight across the neck...if she was strangled in bed with rope..the markings would be across the front of the neck because you cant strangle from the back. you can but you have to be choking off blood to carotids. So markings would show rope on front as well. Strangulation occurs when blood is restricted thru the carotid arteries. Bruising will occur where rope was.

When hanging..placement of noose determines where the brusing will occur.
part of noose is higher..the part connected to railing. It does not go straight across neck..it may start out that way but as body falls from railing or table..the part of noose closer to railing is higher and the lower part chokes victim. I hope this is clear..I will try to find pic for you.

[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanging"]Hanging - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:Pisanello_010.jpg" class="image"><img alt="" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/dc/Pisanello_010.jpg/220px-Pisanello_010.jpg"@@AMEPARAM@@commons/thumb/d/dc/Pisanello_010.jpg/220px-Pisanello_010.jpg[/ame]

here is a pic of hanging ..you can see rope is higher on back of neck and goes under chin.

If Rebecca was strangled to death ..the bruising from the strangulation would remain on her neck..if she was then hanged..no bruising from the noose would occur if she was deceased.

Yes - your description was clear, thank you, and that was my hypothetical namely: strangled by rope at angle to mimic noose hanging damage.

So then the question remains: If a murder was done in this fashion, then carefully staged as a hanging using the same rope placed at same angle on neck, would it possibly fool the ME into thinking it's a suicide? (discounting, of course, all other evidence)

Rigor Mortis can set in anywhere from 2-12 hours after death it's dependant on heat loss therefore on the size of the person and the temp of the location. A thin body loses heat faster. A body out in the open loses heat faster than a body wrapped in a blanket. Blood will settle to the lowest point on the body; if she was hanging when she died, this should be her feet.

A Photo of a hanging victim...on this medical site for Maritime Medicine, I believe it's a book:

Could happen Quester..likelihood would be extremely remote..at least according to my brother. But maybe if she were drugged. Usually when someone is trying to kill someone..I would just think they would want them dead and worry about coverup the minute they are dead. But I have to admit I am not the type that seeks revenge that way.

With all my questions to my brother..he said "do I need to start watching to see if you have rope in yourhands and are trying a little experiment to see how it works?" hehehe

When I was really young, I attempted suicide twice and neither time did I even think to leave a note. I was so sad and hurting so much, that a note to the ones I was leaving behind was the last thing on my mind.
A mentally healthy person can't begin to understand what is going on inside the head of someone planning a suicide..

I'm so thankful you didn't. :grouphug:

I would imagine if a person was manually strangled the bruising would be very different than if a person hanged herself. If the victim was both strangled and hung...i dunno. I am hoping there would be enough evidence of both left on her body, under the skin.

I'll add this here to your post Linda.Unfortunately like a few others here, I have had a loved one take their life by hanging.I may not have this perfectly the way it was relayed to me, but I was told after autopsy/investigation that when a person hangs themself the jump they make causes damage to small bones in the upper spinal column.Just wanted to add this as another possible way they could tell if she actually died from manual strangulation or hanging.

According to a report from local CBS 8 affiliate, neighbors reported a ‘police disturbance’ at Dina Shacknai’s home on the day of Max’s accident. Missing from the report, when the ‘disturbance’ occurred?

http://www.uncoverage.net/2011/07/2...emocrats-san-diego-home-raise-more-questions/

The 911 call occurred at 6:45 AM, purportedly made by Jonah Shacknai’s brother Adam Shacknai, a guest residing in the guest house. (According to a report from Radar, Adam arrived in Coronado after Max’s accident.) By 2 PM, according to the website Coronado Patch, Zahau’s body was still ‘on view’ to the public.

with her body laying there exposed in the sun, how much "evidence" is gone?? Bearing on autopsy report??

Perhaps someone can ask their brother:::::: pferrin???? (TIA)

Person with the strongest motive? RN. The others might blame/hate her later, but right now they are in shock and grief, occupied at the hospital, and far too involved in just processing grief moment by moment to send Ninja assassins in. That kind of revenge response is usually longer in the works. But we have a lot of knowledge of the on-the-spot suicide when a family member has just accidentally shot a loved one.
Person to benefit? RN. Imagine her misery and anticipation of more to come.

Why would a murderer trying to stage this not untie her feet or hands so that we all wouldn't be raising these questions?

Impossible to kill herself this way? She could be extremely fit, well-coordinated, pliable etc. Look what Yoga has done for Madonna, the martial arts for others. And the experts say this is not the first time suicide has been committed in this manner.

I think there is a strong statement in the manner and possibly a ritualistic aspect.

Good post Sandrine! Made me really think.:)

From link:

Prominent San Diego defense attorney Paul Pfingst visited the home late Wednesday night but was refused entrance. Pfingst would only say that he was hired by someone involved in the case but was with forbidden to speak with that person.

Huh? Say what? That makes absolutely no sense. He was hired by someone and then was forbidden to speak to that someone?

Wow
