Rebecca Nalepa - suicide or murder? #6

that blue thing is really bugging me. if it was murder, why was it there? heck, if it was suicide, why was it there? i think it looks like a scarf but maybe that's because i've been hearing scarf for so long. i want to know what it is definitively darnit! has there ever been any cases of suicide where the person puts a cloth or towel around the neck before the noose for cushion? just brainstorming here
Someone mentioned earlier (not me)that perhaps it was used as a gag and pulled down by AS or LE for resuscitation purposes, I think that was a good call. imo

Guess it could be the light - it appears there is a significant shadow under her head (shadow is to the right) almost like that part of her is not flat on the ground.

hmm yes, a possibility. a possibility that boils down to we need more information.

hypothetically if this was ruled a suicide (or even a murder i guess, but that is more complicated), LE in california is not obligated to release details such as this, correct? we may never know.

Noticing there is a dark shadow on the right of her neck (as she is in this flipped photo) - is that something underneath the scarf or just a shadow from the angle of the light?

looks like an indiscernible dark blob to me :giggle:

I tried to edit this but lost it.

It makes sense she is not flat on the ground (head shoulders because of her arms being behind her), but wouldn't ones neck bend with the weight of the head either back or to the side? Perhaps rigor mortis is keeping it more upright?

But doesn't it look too tight around her neck for that?

MOO. Soon after the official death of MS, the known perp voluntarily checked her/himself into a secure, psych facility. Therefore, there is no hurry for LE to press charges. If this is the case and when the perp is deemed to have regained a grip on reality and is released, then charges would be leveled immediately. MOO [Does anyone know if the above is a reasonable/realistic scenario? Could a scenario like this delay the pressing of charges?]

MOO & TIA

I think this is an excellent guess. It would explain why Pfingst said he had not been 'permitted' to speak to his client.

It looks like a blue scarf and looks like it goes around her neck, as well to the right of that looks like a rope?

Thanks. Flipping it sure helps. And, it pretty clear that's a scarf and looks bigger than I thought before. My thoughts on silk scarves - once you pull them too tight if knotted, nearly impossible to get them unknotted. This could have been a method of strangulation before hanging? It's looks fairly tight on her neck esp given hair underneath?

As I said ... extremely doubtful she would put a scarf over her hair. Possibly easy for someone to come up behind her and put the scarf around her neck quickly and pull tight. No noise since she would not be able to breath.

It just dawned on me, it's possible someone took her clothes off to remove evidence instead of being a weird factor.

Is that a rope coming off from the right top side of her neck? I just didn't notice it before, but maybe I'm behind!

Thanks for putting the photo up Defense101!

RE: noose rope - That does look like it could be the noose rope on her left side, amidst her hair above her left shoulder. The length of the noose rope seems consistent with AS cutting her down from the table or from the brick path but not from above on the balcony.

Thanks so much def!!!!

I definitely agree....a length of rope on the opposite side of the blue scarf. I think the blue scarf is over the noose on her neck and over her hair (a no-no for ladies with long hair).

When she was "hanging", did the blue scarf hang down and cover part of her naked body?

Does the back of her calf also look like 'bruising'?

Also, it seems like two different orange cords were used....I still don't see her using orange extension cord....if she did commit suicide, why use a blue scarf (which is very lady-like and possibly one of her favorite colors) then use ugly, manly orange extension cord on legs and arms......that's like wearing plaid pants with a flowered shirt.......

Well if that's the case, RN's DNA/saliva would be all over it.

Would she gag herself? Another step she would of had to do.....

My gosh, with everything she did (binding feet, tieing hands, standing on table, gagging self, noose around neck..tieing rope to something in the room...naked....in the dark) I would have needed a CHECKLIST.......

Something to remember: somebody does not have to have valid anger against a victim in order to victimize them. Think of an angry violent spouse or parent who abuses a kind co-spouse and/or innocent children. They take anger from unrelated situations, circumstances or persons out on others. Also, sometimes people in poor circumstances with a chance to make substantial money will do things they wouldn't usually do. :waitasec:

This is true, which is why imo I keep NN on my list of possibles if this is a murder, but I have to say the death of your child is certainly a related issue. Who would profit from this?

Thank you for this most useful post! Well done!

It appears to me to be a blue scarf, as well, and I agree with your description of it's location...

AND that 'rope' is in the same location as I saw it previously in the black light type video I posted about many threads ago...it doesn't appear AS ORANGE as the 'cord'....it's more brownish...compare it to the 'cord' around her feet...

Nope. Everybody is not "sweetness & light..." Sometimes when somebody lives under somebody else's shadow... a very successful, accomplished sibling... and they are a "ne'er do well..." they may live with a deep-seated resentment and envy. Exascerbate that with the popular sibling being wildly wealthy whilst you live in a ghetto hovel; the sibling not saving and accepting the poorer sibling into his lucky fold (apparently).

And then, the sibling agrees to do something he never would otherwise do. He did a sloppy job too... oh, sorry brother (heh!).

Time - great observation.

It just dawned on me, it's possible someone took her clothes off to remove evidence instead of being a weird factor."

But I'm thinking that if the perp removed her clothes to ensure no forensic evidence was left behind, would'nt the person also remove the scarf also if it was used in the manner you described? Just a thought.
