Or is just really confident in his ability to control the judge. :moo: Is it possible that the COA will be asked to move up the appeal so a final ruling can be made and Nurmi forced to comply, based on them losing over a week of trial because of his tantrums?

... and is there nothing Juan can do, other than voice his objections (in a shroud of secrecy)?

Can Nurmi be charged with Obstruction of Justice?

I think this was the plan by team #JodiArias and JSS, had to know media would fight back, really think the media would just walk away...no!

i hope JSS gets her b*lls busted for this, how is what she is doing adhering to what was said yesterday in the appellate court. is this the way a normal trial would continue?!

Well, she has no b*lls both literally and figuratively.

I fail to understand how a convicted murderer can be treated like such a special little snowflake while her attorney is allowed to behave like a 3 year old. Unbelievable.
Aah, a special snowflake!!!!:loveyou:

I'm thinking Nurmi told the judge he is not prepared to bring other witnesses in until next week. Again, what witness would have been in the stand that long?

AND he has had 6 years to get this trial together, so how is it that he is not prepared? Must be the 250 bucks per hour.

Lamb chop, you are talking about Nurmi. Same reason he said trial would last until January. He is sooooooo slow. He wants to talk to everyone about sex. He likes that. He wants the jurors to hear the date so they can all scatter and HE can cause the mistrial. Only thing is, he is too stupid to realize he IS a fool.

Was JSS up for re-election this year?

  • #349
So that must have been one of his strategies all along. Drag it out long enough and lose too many jurors so that a mistrial will occur.

FGS, I have never ever seen another defense attorney like KN. What a jerk and if he sandbags his case on purpose the Judge needs to rap his knuckles.

IMO

I thought the same thing yesterday based on his comments about how length of trials and delays lead to loosing jurors and mentioning only having 6 extra. To him getting a mistrial for any reason even if it's because there aren't enough alternates is a win for him.

I guess Jodi is laughing all the way back to Estrella.

I worry that JSS is bringing the jury in tomorrow to discuss extending the trial into January.

Does anyone know if Travis' family is accepting donations? I remember last time this circus was in town there was some type of donation going on for them??? Anyone remember, or does anyone have an address for them? Last time I remember I received a beautiful thank you card, but I haven't been able to find it. Thanks for any info.

Juan sounds so frustrated. He was all but telling the judge she just needs to be a judge and take a stand. What a mess. Just an absolute mess.

  • #354
If that's true then why is he saying he needs to go to January to finish the trial?

Perhaps it's his attempt (in a covert sort of way-lol) to strong-arm the Prosecution into accepting a deal for Life. Let's face it, he's wearing all of us down...can you imagine how those directly involved must feel?

What a crock of manure, Judge could have ordered Nurmi to have his next witness in court tomorrow!

Just got done with todays boring mtgs and see I missed another dustup-my darn job.

So, WTH is Nurmi arguing? The CT yesterday pretty much said in an impersonal judicial way that secret witness testimony wasn't gonna be happening so everyone should get on board with the lesser restriction or continue the trial witout using the witness the DT wants until the CT gets around to hearing the case on the merits which, to me, they pretty much indicated wasn't necessary as the Judge should just do what she planned to do in the first order about the overflow room for the media. If I was the DT I'd get on board before the Appeals CT got involved and perhaps issues an order granting greater access than they'll get from JS.

Seriously, the Order was pretty much telegraphing to anyone with rudimentary comprehension skills that the DT would not prevail. The CT wouldn't stay the Judges order if there was any reasonable chance they were going to end up permitting secret testimony. Or did I miss something????

If the witness were really JA, the judge could just call her back up to the stand for cross if Nurmi refuses to ask further questions on direct.

Why is the behavior allowed? So disrespectful to the court and judicial process and most of all the victim's family. In every court I have ever been in there has been respectful silence or whispering. Maria is an officer of the court..what a disgrace.

I have always found Maria's behavior with Jodi startling. IMO she is very, very unprofessional. Especially in light of the rumors of her involvement in sneaking drawings, etc. out of jail for Jodi. Cougarlicious, indeed! I am embarrassed for her! :floorlaugh:

So Nurmi really must be short on witnesses IMO.

Then why not finish trial? Why does he need the month of January?

Arias slaughtered Travis, mocks his family, threatens the prosecutor and his witnesses, blames the media for the delays and now spits on the Constitution. What does the Judge do in response? Coddles her!

She is not coddling her. She is making sure there is nothing that she can appeal on after this is finished that is valid other than automatic appeals and it that she has done a good job. She is erring on the side of making sure JA rights are not trampled on so she can not come back and have a good basis for appeal that might reverse a DP verdict.

And as much as Nurmi annoys me he is zealously fighting for his client.

AS much as I want this over, I want it over right. I think that is what COA is for so that while the trial is going on there is a higher court who can figure out that minutia to make sure all basis are covered and you move on.

Dog and Pony show by the defense, it's all they have, I think it was premeditated, they knew they could exhaust the patience of the court and take the focus off Jody and confuse the jury as to what the hell is going on. Fjdflsjd ing up this sentencing hearing was/is their only mitigating factor, despite having any inept "expert witness" they want Juan to slaughter. I am fslfjfsdi pljlfsded.
