Like I said yesterday, the plan is to go however long it takes to get five more jurors to bail. And then we start over.

How blind can the Judge Stephens be not to see the strategy? I don't get it.

I don't think Stephens is weak with the defense because she favors them. Although I do tend to think based on her off the cuff remarks and her body language to Juan that Juan is not her cup of tea in how he presents his cases. I think Stephens is overcompensating and being wishy washy because she doesn't want her decisions to be overturned on appeal. She really only needs to worry about decisions that would actually overturn Jodi's conviction. And so far I don't think she's made one that would hold any water with the appeals court.

I think she is ruled by fear at this point, and the DT, ever the opportunists, are hammering away at her to the point of bullying, IMO.

Dr. Horn's testimony seems ages ago doesn't it? As do the Victim Impact Statements.
I'm done with this retrial. I'll spend my nights on more productive less rage inducing things. I'll be back for the verdict.

I am so angry, for several reasons, I want to get rid of some of these negative feelings. Usually when I feel like this I will go walking, but about 6 weeks ago I fell while walking and tore the ligaments in my right ankle and tore up my left knee pretty bad, so walking is out for a few more weeks. I need to focus on something other than this awful mess this trial is in and has been for some time. During the last trial I received a beautiful thank you card. What really impressed me was not receiving the thank you card; we all saw right from the very beginning what class and dignity Travis’ family has. What impressed me was the words in the card were handwritten. Travis and his siblings had manners. I won’t write what’s on my mind, I know I would get set on vacation :/ This “fair trial” BS has been going on since the first trial. I just don’t feel like dealing with it right now. I am thinking of Travis’ family. So if anyone has the “snail mail” address for Travis’ family, not the PO one. I cannot believe I’ve lost that card :( Please give it me, thanks 

Still listening but the first thing I caught was that JSS asked Nurmi when he thought this CASE would be finished, not when he would be finished presenting his case.

And then Martinez said there were "2 experts and a potential witness from California and after than just affidavits..." on the defense witness list and he still believes December 18th is sufficient.

I guess Jodi is laughing all the way back to Estrella.

I personally think she is FUMING all the way back to jail. JSS actually put her foot down and said suck it up, your playing ball whether you have a ball or not. COA shut her down. The only thing she walked away with was a week's delay which I know is better than nothing but still she lost almost everything she tried. I'm just concerned that this week's delay isn't to get their ducks in a row, it is to manufacture something else to derail the trial. I think that is the strategy now, derail, crash and burn this trial until it's called off.

I'm sure that all of the judge bashing on twitter is just fueling Nurmi. The media and social media is a double edged sword and he is definitely eating it up. :twocents:

I really think Nurmi would find offensive comments no matter what. It's like shooting fish in a barrel. The worst part is someone like a judge, who should know better, believing any of this unsupported BS. I swear, Judge Stephens seems to have lost the plot.

Hmm, it really doesn't sound like the defense has many witnesses based on what Juan said. Two experts and a person from California. Why would three witnesses, rebuttal and possible allocution take three months?

I'm surprised to hear myself say this, but after watching that video I'm glad there hasn't been live streaming! My heart was racing so fast, surely my blood pressure was elevated at the mere sound of Nurmi! All I hear is whine, blah blah blah blah blah, it's not fair, it's the state's fault, it's the media's fault, whine whine blah blah blah. And Arias and MDLR in their uncomfortably intimate embracing just makes my skin crawl. It seems to me the judge was kowtowing to Nurmi, and IMO looked less than thrilled when listening to Juan. Just so frustrating on every level.

I thought she looked overall defeated.

I worry that JSS is bringing the jury in tomorrow to discuss extending the trial into January.

I know. I saw tweet that Juan was FIGHTING this and saying unfair to everyone else, but I didn't see any tweets on response to that. I guess I should go down the hole and ask the White Rabbit or the Red Queen or someone like that. I'd probably get a more realistic answer if I did that. I haven't seen Alice <modsnip> a lot in a court in AZ….

I was asked if the public had a right to public trials. I answered that.

There is now not going to be any private testifying.

And how is this known? There is a stay right now. For one witness.

Person from California? Maybe it's somene new? Its seems the order is Jodi testifying first, then the others, makes me wonder who this witness from CA could be.

All this secret stuff the defense has tried so hard to hide will come out eventually. It might not be tomorrow or this week or next week (or maybe it will). But certainly, eventually, the public will find out the details.

When? After the murderer is dead and not appealing any longer? I don't understand the confidence, given the secretiveness of this trial, that the judge will release all sealed documents willy nilly right after the trial (and unless compelled by a higher court). Given her track record, does anyone actually believe that?

I have always found Maria's behavior with Jodi startling. IMO she is very, very unprofessional. Especially in light of the rumors of her involvement in sneaking drawings, etc. out of jail for Jodi. Cougarlicious, indeed! I am embarrassed for her! :floorlaugh:

Have you ever googled courgarlicious? She is so crude. Seriously, this whole damned cast of characters from the defense and arias side couldn't be any more coarse and unclassy.

Cougarlicious is the adjective form of the term "cougar"--- a cougar is an older woman (mid-to-late thirties and onward) who is unattached and seeks young males for sex and companionship.

I think if there's another mistrial the state will just drop the DP for the good of the taxpayers and family, who really need to get on with their lives. Surely they wouldn't push for the DP and yet another trial? Regardless, I think it's up to the state, if they still want DP everyone goes again. I THINK!

Then it is Travis' family that will have been endlessly and needlessly victimised and brutalised. Honestly, I no longer have words. Actually, it is happening to them right now, and certainly, IMO, neither Judge Stephens and certainly not Nurmi and Wilmott care all that much.

I don't think anyone is going to come forward for her. I don't envy him trying to find some. If he gets a little extra time to search for just one that doesn't bother me. What I don't get is why her parents won't get up for her. What kind of parents are these people?! Or maybe they are using that to get people to feel bad for her..

Nurmi and the forgotten Wilmott have had SIX years to find mitigating witnesses. Geez.

 • #579
What were Nurmi's words...The State fought for the media to be present and the State is exploiting the trial as much as the media (paraphrasing.) ?? What an asinine thing to say. Weren't the parents the ones who release a "wrongful conviction," beg for money video? I don't see Juan releasing tracings, tweeting, etc.. Wow. Offensive.

Someone has already posted that Mon and tues of next week were already off the docket. So it is just wed thur and fri of this week.

How convenient. A mitigating factor.
