Nationally known cases (and frankly just about any murder case) brings out the crazies...people who take the side of the killer and insist they are innocent and are being railroaded. Those also happen to be the types of people who will interject themselves in a case and try to affect an outcome aligning with their agenda. It should be obvious but unfortunately it isn't and people get vocal on social media and end up shooting themselves in the foot.

Mrs. Flores should have known (or been told) to not talk about the case at all, not anything. That she did, and then engaged in private messaging with someone she didn't know, about details of the case, is not the fault of anyone else. It was stupid.

Every DA should have a stern talk with anyone on a case -- LE, court personnel, etc and tell them they are not to discuss the case and certainly not on social media. It should be common sense, but it turns out that common sense isn't so common.

I agree. Perhaps 'a girl/woman having her first O' would have been better. But I don't blame TA for anything.

It is very hard for me to critique what Travis should have said in a conversation he thought was private. I don't think it had one thing to do with him liking 12 year olds or even knowing what they sound like. He simply said this because JA in her nauseating little girl voice was acting and sounding like she was a 12 year old.

IMO

Where are you reading? These people sound like they're suffering from wrongitis.

RBBM:

:D "wrongitis" ... word of the day ! Luv it and will use it !

:hilarious: !

I love Cathy's runner at the top of the courtchatter page:
10:31 PM Tuesday, October 28, 2014 : Jodi Arias sentencing trial: X-rated evidence concludes facts phase

Yep - we're moving on to the defense's case, so that ends the "facts" phase alright.... :thud:

I can't read the fuzzy DMs there, but who cares? Unless she was DMing a sitting juror, what is the news? There were all sorts of stories about these out during the original trial.

BBM: Yes, unfortunately. How sad it is that as the prosecution rests, the "facts" phase ends. Bring on the defense = bring on the lies.

That is pretty high on the yikes meter, IMO.

That's how I heard it--sounded like he was a little annoyed by her squeaking and squealing little girl voice, nothing in his voice indicated to me that he found it enticing.

So, why didn't they bring up the hair dying in the middle of the trip? That screams, especially since they saw the interrogation video where she says TA's neighbors knew her as blonde, that she was going to be not recognized and to do harm.

And what is Nurm the Worm trying to do here? No dude. This is not an appeal.

So now that the state has rested, does this mean Nurmi can blather on for weeks on end before resting, or do they all just move on to mitigation phase now? I don't know how this works. TIA

Either way she isn't leaving prison alive. The problem is either way taxpayers have to spend money to keep her alive, while Travis didn't have that privilege...if the DP was overhauled to not drag on for years that would be great. The big difference is that with LWOP she gets general population. She's a psycho-sociopath....she does not react to things like average people do. You have to think like her in order to understand her-LWOP gets some things that DR does not.On DR, at least she'd be away from the gen pop and not able to play games like she does. Unfortunately right now the DP is much like LWOP anyway, just different parts of the prison with different privileges. Neither is really fair to me but those are the options in this country and state and much better than her ever getting parole.

BBM
That's why I want the DP. I don't want her in general population feeling like a celebrity with other inmate groupies looking up to her. I know she won't be sitting in her cell thinking of her crime (other than re-living how she believes Travis got what he deserved) and I know she won't ever feel remorse for killing Travis, but I don't want her to have anything to smile about. I don't want her thinking her very existence is contributing to anyone or anything. You know, all the programs she can start and people she can help......

Can you explain the hollow point thing to me? I don't think I'm getting it. TIA.

Among other theories, fans like to maintain that the ammunition used in the shooting portion of the murder was of a different type from the ammunition found with the gun at the scene of the burglary.

How is 27 "a young girl" by any stretch of the imagination???

It's not. Didn't someone say she was 27 and 11 months when she killed Travis? That's 28 to me.

In the light of a new day, I refuse to believe that JM made a strategical error in not fighting all of that. He must have really wanted that sex tape in, and decided that Flores could handle the play-acting, role of 'religious expert' and providing speculative answers. I would love to know if JM is happy with yesterday's outcome.

If I were Flores I would have stated that yes in fact I am a sex expert..as in all my yrs I've always been told Im the best, noone is better and never have had any complaints..only compliments, so yes in fact I think I probably am the expert. Of course thats just how I would have done it. .

@ericksonvision: No #JodiArias court today. Resumes tomorrow. Don't know how the mitigation phase will start, but it'll likely be a sideshow of banality.

I know they try to make this whole relationship out to seem like Jodi was some young innocent 15 yr old that Travis brought into his cultish religious group and then defiled her and dumped her.. LIKE WHAT? !!! I honestly truly in my heart believe that Jodi USED sex to trap Travis etc..and that she was the instigator the whole time..trying to make him choose between his God, his beliefs and her..JMO

That will be really interesting, seeing how she and the 'abusive' sister sat side by side and giggled together through the last trial. Awkward.

These jurors won't know that (supposedly)

:tantrum: It's just sooooooooo wrong that we are not able to see Mr. Martinez in action during this Re-Trial of Penalty Phase !

:happydance: He is by far one of the BEST prosecutors / attorneys I have ever seen !

:seeya: And Thanks, MeeBee, for posting the pics !

I think Nurmi's blathering IS the mitigation phase. Blathering with "experts".

Just catching up this morning. Something that might help those who feel a little 'deflated' after yesterday. Remember, we are just barely into this phase. JM has at least a couple months (probably more) left to make sure the jury understands what the real facts surrounding this murder were. He will give the jury a clear picture, both of JA and of her crime. And just as they showed the last jury the defense will, in spite of their efforts, only be able to tell the unsubstantiated tales of a self professed liar whose need to destroy her victim is as alive today as it was in 2008. I believe that.

That said, I also believe that convincing a jury to sentence a female with no priors to DP is a tough sell. Whether that happens or not, I do think JM will make sure they have the information they need to consider.
