This is from several days ago but wanted to put this young man's picture here.

They identified Nico's 9-year old brother today. :rose:

.... and Justin Giovanni, 9, Indonesian police said at a press conference at the East Java regional police headquarters.

The boy was travelling with his parents and his brother Nico, 18, who held a Singapore Ministry of Education scholarship and had studied at Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) and recently completed his first year at SAJC. Only his father Herumanto Tanus is still missing.

from your link:

this excites me ..... if this is the nose....should be easier for the science wizards to get busy on their computers to find the rest!

"More wreckage from the aircraft may have been found near the tail, said Muhammad Ilyas, the head of oceanic surveys at the country's technology agency. A few hundred metres away from the tail, searchers have found an object that may be the plane's nose, Muhammad Aga, the head of a survey team, said on Friday."

Interesting ... and very hopeful .... perhaps they have found the main crash zone? Could be that the fuselage is not far away. :please:

They found it !!!! (They think.)

A search team on Sunday (Jan 11) detected the black box of the crashed AirAsia flight QZ8501, a day after the tail section of the aircraft was recovered from the seabed.

According to local media reports, specialist search team BPPT detected the black box at a depth of 30 metres in the Java Sea.

The black box signal was detected in the area where the tail section of the aircraft was found, reported local media.

Thank goodness I knew they were getting closer. The families of the victims and the world need to know how the plane crashed. I hope we get the answers to the many questions we all have. I have concerns about how they are going to get large sections of the plane up from the sea bed when they are found but hope it will work out ok.

BBM: I join you in those concerns, Greg. I think we all do, after the tail-retrieval debacle. Please let them consult the engineers and do it right!

I wonder if Bambang is taking a little break . The orders seem to be coming from Gen Moeldoko now.

Basarnas has deployed a number of war vessels in an operation led by Indonesian Military commander Gen Moeldoko to search for the aircraft's black box, following the detection and hoisting of the plane's tail section on Saturday.

I think he is our good luck charm: apparently he was on site with navy divers Thursday and they were unsuccessful and he chose to stay on the ship Friday overnight ....

Did we ever get a seating chart/roster of where each passenger was seated?

I thought the pings were old news?
They have been saying for a while that there was pings in the same area of the tail section?
Is there some reason they think these are THE pings or they are different?

""Three ships equipped with ping detector beacons received pings from the same location," said Ridwan Djamaluddin, from the Agency for the Application of Technology, whose ship was involved in the search on Sunday.''

and it was today with three picking up same signal - math wizards can better pinpoint location hopefully

http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Air_Asia/Air_Asia_Airbus_320.php

looks like they pulled up part of the galley as well....so black boxes ''could'' have been very closeby

that image was using Air Asia 320-200 to get their configuration ..... again very odd that five windows found integral with part of tail unit...lavatories don't have windows ((??)) and galley is behind lavs . I did see the cutaway for the door (which of course was missing) when they ''hauled'' the wreckage over the stern in Sky news video.

Bringing your image of the plane forward so we can see the seating numbers.

ETA The image itself didn't show up.

No windows in lavs.
