REVISIT Terri was supposed to drive Kyron to Eugene that day

Also, I read an article recently, where it mentioned that TH's older son was supposed to be spending the weekend (or maybe it said the whole coming week) with KH & TH.

So, this could be the reason why TH agreed to do the drive--in order to pick up her oldest. I understood this was all done in Eugene, because it was a good half way point for all parties involved.

Also, I read where TH's son did arrive that evening, (June 4) (someone had driven him the full way in order for him to be with his mom); but the events were so chaotic that he went back to his grandparents.

If I come across that article, I will come back with a link.

Carol Moulton, who is Terri's mother, said that the older boy was on a boy scout camping trip with his father that weekend.

But then we have the report that the boy was at the Horman home on the weekend because the bio Dad said that TH got upset about something with the polygraph. Is my time line right?

Then we heard the older boy was going to be with the Horman's the whole week. That week was planned even though there must be school for him.

I don't know how reliable Carol is.

At any rate, maybe there was going to be a drop off of the older boy, and since Kaine doesn't get along with him , Terri was going to do the driving.

I have step kids. I have never once called myself there mother. They have a mother and IMO shes the one who has the right to be labelled as there mother.

In this case Desiree is the mother. Not Terri.

JMO

I have stepchildren too. Grown, but they were little once. I never claimed to be their mother, either, but I acted AS a mother when they were with me. (My stepdaughter actually did live with us for several years and to the outside world, I was thought of as her mom.)
When a person does the parenting for the majority of the time... I think it is safe to say they are acting AS a parent.

This thread is not about how step-families should be handled. This is about the statement that TH was supposed to take Kyron to Eugene that day.

If we want to open a thread on step-families, please feel free to start one in the Jury Room. Thanks!

This makes sense. It would also make complete sense that:
1) Kaine would come home from work early to spend some time with Kyron before he left for the weekend, and
2) Terri would do the driving solo if she was picking up her son, since he and Kaine were supposedly at odds.

This has been discussed at length in earlier threads here. It was mentioned before, some time ago, though I don't recall the exact interviews.

Eugene is only about 2 hours away from Portland. They meet there as a half-way point so that neither parent has such a long drive.

Speculation about why it might be Terri making the trip included the fact (mentioned in the original article) that they used to make a "switch" with all three families--Hormans, Youngs, and Terri's ex-husband taking her bio-son. (Many theories have been put forth as to why she might have been doing the drive this time.)

In a WW interview about two weeks ago (somewhere posted on this board) the bio father of TH's older boy said that the boy was scheduled for a weekend visit with TH in Portland that same weekend Kyron disappeared. I always found that strange, since Th's Mom had claimed he was on a camping trip that weekend.

Thanks. I believe you and I have read some of the same articles. I have been searching off and on all morning, but the only one I can find so far is the earlier one, about the camping trip. I'll post a link, but I do agree about not knowing how reliable the "source" is.

Quote: "Terri also has a 16-year-old son from a former marriage who has lived with her mom and dad for the past few months in Roseburg. The teen's father also lives in the area and the two are on a Boy Scout camping trip this weekend." Unquote.

I'll keep looking for the other links. (Now that I'm sure I didn't dream it.)

Me either, what's up with that?
Was someone lying about the whereabouts of this person?
Why?

Not to sleuth on the boy (not at all) but the adults.
Why would someone mis-represent to facts about his whereabouts or even be uninformed about them?

Of course :) I dont disagree with that. However a child only has one biological mother and father. And for the record in many cases i do think step parents can be better parents to the kids than the biological parents and yet have no rights which stinks IMO

Carol also claimed that Kyron was scared of cops - then it turns out his step father is one and he wants to be one when hes older so go and figure..

J was meant to be going there for a week not a weekend.

This is the first time I have thought about this....he may have been well cried on several occasions about returning home because he didn't appreciate that long drive. As much as it is great for both sets of parents to have access to Kyron, that's a brutal commute for a weekend. How many times, I wonder, did this little lad just want to stay at home and be a kid.

I know my 16yo stepdaughter HATES the 2.5 hour drive each way that she has to make between our house and her mother's. However, I also know that depending on what is going on, she will get quite upset about having to head back to her mother's when she wanted to stay at our house, but when pressed, she wants to continue living with her mom.

Totally! And I've been operating that they were going to get ice cream, but I forgot a previous assertion that they were going to drive Kyron down to DY....Actually, I lost this thought a while ago. Which is very bad....

ice cream at 3:00, drive to Eugene.......as the norm in this case, I'm perplexed.

All I can say is- - - - - these details bother me tremendously!! the conflict really really bothers me.

Honestly! What is the conflict? If I knew how to insert the scratching head smiley, I would.

I live in Portland. Many times a week I drive to Eugene. Before we go, we often stop and get burgers, for dinner. Sometimes we even go ::gasp:: around 6 or 7 pm!

I've found a link that talks about the week long trip. I really don't understand why there would be so many versions of his whereabouts. Maybe just nobody was sure, so they were just offering their personal thoughts on where is was. If he is anything like teenagers I know, their plans change as quick as their clothes.

The day after Kyron vanished, Tarver says, James went to the Hormans’ house for a previously planned weeklong visit.

Tarver says on June 8, four days after Kyron disappeared, James called him from the Hormans’ house

Given the intense media scrutiny, the family agreed James should return to Roseburg, Tarver says

I will keep looking. I know I've seen a couple of more articles on this.

so now im reallly confused. then why was it reported he was on an already scheduled camping trip with his dad. it was stated by LE in one of the first pressers held... that doesnt add up... if it hadnt have said it was a PRE PLANNED trip to the hormans, i would say they just cut the camping trip off in light of things and he wanted to be with his mom... but it says it was planned... dont understand:waitasec:

Do you get back the same day?

Kyron had to continue to Medford and whoever drove him to Eugene would probably come back to Portland, so it's a long commute but still, I don't think getting ice creams takes very long and he'd have to eat something anyway. But it would have been later than 3 because he would still have been in the bus.

I get back the same night. Usually by 10 pm, unless I hang out awhile.

The day after Kyron vanished, Tarver says, James went to the Hormans’ house for a previously planned weeklong visit.

Tarver says on June 8, four days after Kyron disappeared, James called him from the Hormans’ house and mentioned Terri Moulton Horman had taken a polygraph test. It’s been reported that she has since taken a second polygraph. What hasn’t been publicly confirmed until now is that authorities were already focusing on her so soon after Kyron vanished.

Tarver says when James mentioned the polygraph to him over the phone, he heard Terri Moulton Horman begin yelling in the background to be quiet and not reveal anything more. Given the intense media scrutiny, the family agreed James should return to Roseburg, Tarver says.

“It was a zoo, so we got him out of there,” Tarver says.

As far as TH's older son being on a camping trip with his father, I have been unable to find any source for this information other than some reader comments on other news articles. I cannot find a single instance where MSM has reported that he was on a camping trip.

However, let's assume for the moment that he WAS on a camping trip with his dad. So what? He had been camping with his dad when Kyron went missing, and then arrived at TH and KH's house 4 days afterwards, on June 8th. Then, there was the deal with him telling his dad stuff on the phone, and it was decided that he should just get outta there and go back to his dad's house where things were a bit more sane. Makes sense to me.

Does anyone else have a MSM link that states that TH's older son was camping when Kyron went missing? I'm curious to know, but at the same time, I don't really think it has any bearing on this case, other than to give the teen an alibi...and I don't think he even needs one, really.

Snip

That's not what the WW link says. According to WW he went to Terri and Kaine's house on Saturday, the day after Kyron disappeared and the 8th was when he called his father from the Hormans.
