Brainwashing children. russia organises the all-Russian lesson about the «liberation mission in Ukraine» on 3 March

BRAINWASHING CHILDREN. RUSSIA ORGANISES THE ALL-RUSSIAN LESSON ABOUT THE «LIBERATION MISSION IN UKRAINE» ON 3 MARCH

Earlier, Russian schools received materials for conducting lessons about the war in Ukraine, which sets out the official kremlin’s point of view on the Russian invasion.

Russia expands its propaganda with holding an all-russian open lesson with ironical name «Defenders of Peace», organised by the Institute of Education of the Russian Academy of Education. There, the schoolchildren will be told why «the liberation mission in Ukraine is a necessity,» reports Russian independent media «Meduza» with reference to the Ministry of Education of the russian federation.

The institute said that the lesson will be broadcast on March 3 at 12:00 Moscow time, hosted by Sofia Khomenko and journalist Denis Polunchukov, one of the moderators of russia’s main propagandist program «Vesti» on the TV-channel «Rossiya-1». The guest of the broadcast will be Peter Ishkov, an «expert» in military history.

«Listeners will be told the background of today’s events: about the danger NATO poses to our country [russia], why Russia stood up for the civilian population of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, and they will also help you figure out how to distinguish truth from lies in a huge stream of information, photographs and videos, which the Internet is full of today,» – the Ministry of Education said in a statement.

Earlier it was reported that schools in several regions of russia received recommendations for conducting lessons about the war in Ukraine, which sets out the official kremlin’s point of view on the russian invasion.

Thus, to the possible question «Is this a war with Ukraine? Was it possible to avoid it?» the teacher was urged to answer «There is not a war with Ukraine, but a special peacekeeping operation, the purpose of which is to contain the nationalists who oppress the Russian-speaking population.»

Estonian owned cargo ship Helt sinks off Ukrainian coast near Odessa after explosion – Reuters, citing ship manager.

Helt cargo ship may have hit mine - ship manager

Two crew members from Helt cargo ship in life raft at sea, four others still missing – ship manager

Estonian freighter captured by Russian Navy, sank off Odessa UPDATE
1310 UTC Mar 3 UPDATE: According to latest info confirmed by ship’s manager, Estonian company VISTA Shipping Agency, the ship sank, 2 of the crew went into life raft, 4 remained trapped on board. The ship was hit by something, or hit mine – there’s no clarity here. 2 crew on life raft are missing, VISTA can’t get any information with regards to their fate, condition.

General cargo ship HELT on Mar 2 was reported by Ukrainian defence and maritime authorities, as captured by Russian Navy and used as a shield from either Ukrainian fire, or as disguise to prevent enemy radar detection. In the afternoon Mar 3 the ship was reported by Ukrainian sources as sinking, with heavy list, abandoned by crew, which went into life rafts. No clarity, no understanding, no impartial information on this case, so far. As of 1200 UTC Mar 3, ship’s AIS was still on, she was 16 nm SE of Odessa, anchored or adrift. One more piece of info – allegedly, she’s or was used by Russian Navy Landing Crafts, approaching Odessa for troops landing and general attack on one of the main ports of Ukraine, and one of the main targets of invasion.

It was advised that the tanks be avoided, which would be met by regular forces. Instead, irregulars should create obstacles to cause delays for the unarmored and poorly guarded supply vehicles in the rear, which can be attacked with Molotov cocktails.

"Without ammunition, the enemy's tank is a tractor. Without fuel it is a hunk of dead iron. Without food the enemies will surrender to captivity."

The Hermitage Amsterdam displays art from the collection of the Russian Museum, one of the largest in the world. "For a long time, the Hermitage Amsterdam kept aloof from political developments in Putin's Russia," according to the museum. ⚡️Zelensky: Russia's missile and bomb strikes on Ukrainian cities are a recognition that they have failed to achieve anything significant on our land.
All lines of our defense are preserved, the enemy has no success in any of the strategic directions.

⚡️Zelensky to Russia: Learn the word "reparation."
In the most recent video address, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia will compensate Ukraine for all the damages it suffered during Moscow's brutal war.
"We will restore every house, every street, every city."

⚡️Zelensky: We have survived two world wars, three famines, the Holocaust, Babyn Yar, the Great Purge, the Chornobyl explosion, the occupation of Crimea, and the war in the east of our state.

⚡️Zelensky: We've been through so much. And if someone thinks that after overcoming all this, Ukrainians, all of us, will be scared, broken, or surrendered, he just doesn't know anything about us. He knows nothing about Ukraine.

"They wanted to destroy us so many times, but they couldn't," he said.

2. Cars are only allowed to drive in daylight.
3. Only cars carrying necessary supplies such as food and medicine can enter the city.
4. Citizens can walk alone or in groups of two people. They have to stop when demanded. They must not confront the Russian forces.

White House requests $10 billion for Ukraine aid as part of broader emergency funding request - CNNPolitics
"This request identifies an immediate need for $10 billion in additional humanitarian, security, and economic assistance for Ukraine and Central European partners due to Russia's unjustified and unprovoked invasion," read the formal request sent Wednesday from acting Office of Management and Budget director Shalanda Young to congressional leadership.

Young suggested the initial $10 billion request for Ukraine would address "immediate needs" and more funding could be needed.

"Given the rapidly evolving situation in Ukraine, I anticipate that additional needs may arise over time. This funding request is based on the administration's best information on resource requirements at this time, and we will remain in touch with the Congress in the coming weeks and months as we assess resource requirements beyond these immediate needs," she said.

'This is genocide of Ukrainian people' - Mariupol city council
Mariupol city council said Russia was constantly and deliberately shelling critical civilian infrastructure in the southern Ukrainian port, leaving it without water, heating or power and preventing bringing supplies or evacuating people.

“They are breaking food supplies, setting us up in a blockade, as in the old Leningrad,” the council said in a statement, reported by the Reuters news agency.

“Deliberately, for seven days, they have been destroying the city’s critical life-support infrastructure. We have no light, water or heat again.”

The council said it was seeking to create a humanitarian corridor for the city, as well as trying to restore infrastructure.

“We are being destroyed as a nation. This is genocide of Ukrainian people,” it said.

EU leaders are expected to discuss and seek to find a common position on Ukraine’s membership application when they gather in Paris next Thursday for an informal summit, officials have said.

Leaders will discuss “timing or the conditions”, with positions currently widely diverging among the 27 capitals.

Georgia and Moldova are also expected to make formal applications “by the end of the week”, EU officials said.

Roman Lytwyniw, 25, who travelled to the Polish town of Przemyśl, near the border with Ukraine, to bring his 80-year-old grandmother back to the UK, said the family had been in limbo for two days, with embassy and Home Official officials unable to help with her visa application.

Lytwyniw, a violinist from London, told the Guardian: “I’m not seeing anything yet from that [announcement]. Yesterday, they told me that I’m going to have to reapply for a visa because we didn’t meet the eligibility requirements.

“I’ve just been to the British embassy here and they’ve told me that the best thing to do would be to travel to either Rzeszow or Warsaw. Because that’s where the nearest visa application centres are.”

A petition calling on the UK government to waive visa requirements for Ukrainians fleeing the Russian invasion has now been signed by more than 100,000 people.

Germany is planning to deliver a further 2,700 anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine following a volte-face on its previously restrictive stance on exporting lethal weapons, German media reported on Thursday morning.

The shoulder-fired “Strela” surface-to-air rockets, which once belonged to the old arsenal of the National People’s Army of Soviet-controlled East Germany, have been approved for export by Germany’s economic ministry but still await formal approval by the federal security council.

The anti-aircraft missiles follow 1,000 anti-tank weapons and 500 Stinger missiles that the German government announced over the weekend would be dispatched to Ukraine.

In addition, the government of Germany’s chancellor, Olaf Scholz, has green-lighted the delivery of weapons from Netherlands and Estonia that once belonged to East Germany.

After India became a republic following the end of British rule in 1947, the country had a neutral position — although its founding prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, had a soft spot for Communist Russia.

But India tilted toward the Soviet Union in the 1970s, when it saw the United States providing military and financial support to its archenemy, Pakistan. The Soviets came to India’s aid.

India now relies on Russia for more than 60 percent of its military equipment. And Russia has often voted to support India in international forums, including refraining from criticism of its nuclear weapons tests in the 1990s.

India’s bonds with the United States are the tightest they’ve ever been, increasingly connected by the shared threat in the rise of an aggressive China. India’s spending on military equipment from the United States has gone from nearly zero to about $20 billion in just a little over a decade.
