Perhaps he was trying to prevent himself from rolling his eyes.

I thought it was an appropriate question and one that has been asked alot on this forum.

Good to know it’s been searched ‘to an extent’

The area they are searching in was quoting as being ‘relatively small’ in the scheme of things.

Hopefully we can some answers in the next 48hrs.

Why does it take so long to get some concrete phone data.

I'm confused.

Did Samantha's run end at Mt. Clear where something happened.

IMO, so as not to reveal to the perp what evidence they have in any form.

IMO, catching and prosecuting criminals takes priority over satisfying public curiosity.

JMO
Yes, that and if someone did see her, someone else could have put two and two together and identified the person who was in the forest that day.

I found the police officers facial expression when this question was asked interesting. His reaction was different compared to other questions IMO
JMO
He looked pretty annoyed with questions and nervous about saying anything he shouldn't, I wouldn't read much into it.

So if there was damage to a vehicle - then they didn't see this car on CCTV with the damage then???

Maybe they have the car on CCTV going towards this area but not of it coming out? with the damage??? MOO

Somebody visiting someone who lives in this remote area?? MOO

Maybe they know that Sam would have fought like hell before being shoved into a vehicle (if that is what happened).
She may have dented a vehicle.

imo

Between the 7:52 and 8:04 mark on the video when asked if Mick Murphy is a suspect, the Officer replied "....at this point he is not." He also said "....that the family have been absolutely fantastic."
I would think that the message is that they don't suspect Samantha's husband but are unwilling to rule anything out due to the requirements of the investigation process.

Mark Hatt says police are speaking to everyone in Samantha Murphy's life as part of the investigation into her disappearance, including family, friends and work colleagues and everyone.
Also he did not deny that the Smash repair business would form part of the investigation….in fact he said it “absolutely” is an active part of the investigation. At approximately 8 minute mark in the press conference.

Does the "damage to a vehicle" mean that the car hit a person?

Maybe Sam had been visiting someone in Mount Clear on a regular basis and tried to end a relationship ...

He said “He is not a suspect … at this stage”

Not that he has been ruled out as a suspect
No one is ruled out as a potential suspect untill all the arrests are made.

POI usually means 'person who we want information from'. It doesn't mean suspect.

IMO, someone disappearing when on a solo run in the wilderness, has very likely been abducted by a stranger who happened to be in that location. I've never seen a case when it was someone known to them. It's too hard to identify where they will be at any particular moment.

Lots of people were convinced it was the spouse in the Hill/Clay campers case, because there was infidelty etc. But nope, not at all.

Stranger danger even more likely for a blond jogger on her own. Sadly

They won’t rule out any family members until they find the body. They don’t really have much much to go off here asides this phone data. They really don’t know what occurred, still much a mystery, so you can’t rule out the family etc just yet.

As seen with many other cases, generally is a link to the family somewhere, and sometimes is not, so they are just keeping an open mind. Just how it is. I know it’s painful for the family to have this constant speculation on them, but sadly it’s just how these cases run until they find a body, nobody is ruled in or out just yet.

Has Yarrowee Plantation been searched?

Wonder if this new information makes it more likely to be linked to the assault of the woman a year or so back

Won't comment on phone data.
Won't comment on financial health of business.

They do think another party is involved (other than a perp).
What could "another party" mean? Maybe someone who tricked Sam into going to that place at that time?

  • #718
Maybe around that time, scratches were seen on the face or arms etc of someone.

And that someone had been acting suspiciously, possibly when people were discussing Samantha being missing.

If someone suspected someone maybe they were too scared to come forward before.
Or maybe someone did recently come forward with what they knew or suspected.

Or someone who assisted in moving her body JMO

I noticed in the presser (haven't rewatched yet so can't give the time stamp) a reporter asked if any vehicles left the home after Samantha did.
The response was that vehicles were coming and going all day.

My comment: Which could be very normal if your wife/mother/sister/daughter went missing.
