I don't think any time has been provided by the police for the last phone ping. I believe the times people are speculating on are all rumours.

The police have been dodging that question in every presser I have heard.

imo

Wow
I never knew dogs can be used to search for electronic devices.

AFP NCO also demonstrated the AFP’s world-class Technology Detection Dog (TDD) capability. TDDs can find memory storage devices such as USBs, hard drives, mobile phones, storage device cards and SIM cards.

“Only the very best detection dogs are capable of becoming a TDD. The AFP has 13 TDDs that are deployed across Australia,” Commander Turner said.

:rolleyes:Daily Mail clickbait headline:

BREAKING NEWSSamantha Murphy's husband declared a 'person of interest' in investigation as police reveal they're now looking for her body

They go on to say ALL people in Samantha’s life are persons of interest.

“At this stage he is not (a suspect). Everyone in relation to Samantha is a person of interest. In our investigation we are speaking to everyone that was in her life.”

Jake Cassar just now on Ch 10 afternoon news, says he’s already found some items of interest that have been given to police.

Did Jake find something which gave Police more information and instigate their latest search?
Maybe some broken tail light fragments from hitting someone? MOO

Unconscionable that headline
'We have a number of people that we are speaking to and I can say the family have been absolutely fantastic in co-operating with police,' he said.

'At this stage he is not (a suspect). Everyone in relation to Samantha is a person of interest. In our investigation we are speaking to everyone that was in her life.'

This makes me sooo

No wonder the darn family refuses to talk to them ( except for Aunt & uncle )

It's always interesting to watch a presser than see how each media outlet reports it .

Gives you an idea who you can trust;)

Same goes for attending court cases yourself & than read what the media reports or doesn't report!

Victoria Police Crime Command's Detective Acting Superintendent Mark Hatt said police would be speaking to her family, friends and work colleagues as part of their 'open-ended' investigation.

Superintendent Hatt said while Mick Murphy was not an official suspect, he was a 'person of interest' in the investigation.
Police said while Mick Murphy was not an official suspect, he was a 'person of interest' in the investigation.

'We have a number of people that we are speaking to and I can say the family have been absolutely fantastic in co-operating with police,' he said.

'At this stage he is not (a suspect). Everyone in relation to Samantha is a person of interest. In our investigation we are speaking to everyone that was in her life.'

'We are absolutely looking for her phone, we haven't yet found that. We are looking for a body. Again, that area has been searched for Samantha herself and we have not found her in that area,' he said.

Superintendent Hatt said police are 'certainly' looking into whether Ms Murphy's body had been removed from the Mount Clear area after meeting foul play.

'We do think another party has been involved, whether that be one person or a number of people,' Superintendent Mark Hatt said

Thanks, I haven't been closely following.

In my imagining, police may have asked family about whether she would go there for any reason, and it was leaked.

IMO, a very big piece of evidence. Pings don't lie.

I'm still not ruling out that it was something random, like a road rage thing, or a hit and run.

It very well still could be a complete stranger to Samantha.

After following true crime my entire life, I'm not really surprised at anything anymore, sadly :(

I still haven't ruled anything out, including that she did know the person.
Same here. Although I have my theories, nothing would surprise me.

Along with many others, i think it’s taken this long to gather together all her information from her phone and watch and then match it all up to finally come up with what we have today. It would be a ridiculously complex process that requires specialists.

I do though think we’ll have some sort of outcome today

The malevolent troll under the bridge. I remember the early days of unmoderated internet: DFTT - Don't feed the troll.

I wondered just how long it would take from saying that everyone is a person of interest.

To headlines like that.

Good click bait.

Does that mean - she was walking rather than running - if it took 1 hour to reach the site - 7km away? Trying to work this out? MOO
I would say a slow jog

It really sounds as though they are honing in on their POI / POI's, but now they are just getting their evidence together to make an arrest.

They said there was no threat to anyone, so they must have a good idea whose responsible.

Maybe there is a link that recent murder/suicide..
I found this comment interesting... as though they know exactly who was involved and that that person is not a threat... unlike a random weirdo in the bush.

I hope so. However, they may be trying just to find the crime scene. That could provide important forensic evidence.

If Police talk about possible body removal by perp/s,
it might mean she could be anywhere.
And might even be never found.

The next word I'm hoping to see in this case is "arrest".
Sadly. I don't think it will be a good outcome

You have to start asking why her, and she's a mother

Was it work related ? She did work at the business. Did she see something she shouldn't ?

The rest of her background that we have been told was a caring lady, ironically helped find missing people and pets
