Hopefully there is more evidence to help with determining motive. With what we know now, there could be several motives.

1. A family argument that resulted in a rage killing of both of them.
2. A planned killing of one with the other killed as collateral damage.
3. A planned killing of both.

The ‘planned killing’ or ‘killings’ could have had a financial motive, a silencing motive, a ‘you upset Daddy’ motive…there are endless possibilities and combinations.

They may have to just guess. We cannot count on AM to be truthful.

GAS heirs filed a civil claim under the wrongful death statute-- which would also be available to them had AM murdered their mother. So no, I disagree with this theory. JMO

ETA: Actually, filing WDC under a murder scenario would have likely proved more favorable to GAS's family as they would not have been caught up with AM manipulating the suit that he encouraged and orchestrated for his own personal, financial gain.
But surely AM's homeowner insurance would not pay out for his committing a murder? And AM himself is unlikely to have $4.3 million in personal wealth to spare. He's no OJ Simpson.

IMO, even if the determination of accidental death is confirmed, EB and the G family are going to have great trouble collecting that money, that AM did actually receive from the insurance payout. If that is cancelled and they have to get in line with so many others demanding priority, I'm not so sure they'd even get enough to pay all the continuing legal fees that EB is working for.

JMO

ETA: I'm quoting $4.3 million as that is the amount AM promised in order to settle the lawsuit for fraud, filed against him by the G family. Actually, the original wrongful death lawsuit by the G family was for $500,000. To me, it's unclear whether that half million was or was not paid to them. The more recent lawsuit was over the almost $4 million AM actually obtained. Somehow, EB also managed to obtain other settlements for the family, from banks, etc. I think he had his own strategy, of rushing into settlements with various organizations, who wanted to disassociate themselves from AM asap.

You would think there would be 3 vehicles of interest at the scene. AM’s, MM’s, and PM’s. Wonder if PM drove himself there or if his mother picked him up and drove him there.

I have a feeling they took Maggie’s and Paul’s vehicles. Iirc Paul’s & AM’s were company. MM had Mercedes, which he got back.

Paul drove his uncle’s truck from work in Okatie to Moselle. The idea was he’d return it to his uncle at work in the morning (Paul was working for John Marvin at his Kubota dealership in Okatie over the summer). John Marvin told this to podcaster Seton Tucker. He took his parents’ sedan to transport his father to the hospital (I’m guessing the elderly man could not climb up in the F150).

So was Paul planning on spending the night at Moselle? i thought AM took his Father to the hospital not his brother.

I thought AM took his father to the hospital then went to Moselle and took a nap then got up and went to visit his mother then returned and found his son and wife. I am so confused about the time line.

Paul didn’t have a vehicle?

Thank you. Sorry if I’m not understanding — that means 3 vehicles driven to Moselle by the 3 parties, correct? Seems like LE would tow and check all 3 for evidence.

He’s been indicted on charges of the planned killings of both.
That’s all we know right now.
Remember, premeditation can mean minutes before deciding to pull the trigger (perhaps in the case of Paul?).

Did Paul have a suspended license for the drunk boat driving?

I don’t know where he was planning to spend the night that night. My understanding is that Paul kind of “couch surfed” that summer. He was working for his uncle John Marvin in Okatie at the Kubota dealership, which was an hour away from Moselle, so he often stayed there.
Alex was at Moselle and Maggie was at Edisto, so I would imagine he split time between homes, but his uncle’s home in Okatie would’ve been most convenient when he had to work. He was very close with JMM and his family.

BBM

What really infuriates me is that EB would even suggest suicide is an honorable option for AM.

I agree. That threw me for a loop too.

I have no idea why he would say that or even suggest it. AM may be a total narcissist but he is still a human and all human life is valuable.

I wonder if EB is afraid that if AM starts talking he might rescind his admission of fault in the GS fall?

But still to suggest suicide as a solution is a slap in the face to anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide.

Your last sentence . So very true.

He had a truck but it was not at Moselle. He had driven his uncle’s truck to Moselle that night per John Marvin Murdaugh.

Did I miss something? When how did we learn of the specific charges. Last I heard it was just charged with the murders.

Sorry if I missed something. MOO

it’s quite stunning to think that the failure to see that PM had the discipline, parenting, supervision, Psychological help he needed…would one day mean that he would bring down the entire Murdaugh ‘empire.’

If he’d brought Mallory and his friends home that night…as they were begging him to do…all the past would have remained buried and he and his Mother might still be alive.
