Does it show where his body was positioned after the shot in any of the photos?
No, and there is no blood in either of the videos I've seen.

Ok I was wondering if I missed a photo with blood and body line.

How superficial would it have to be to not be bleeding?

I’m sure there was blood, but it’s probably not something that you’re going to be able to see in a photo or video.

It seems it looked worse than it was, as he was transported by helicopter to the hospital.

Not sure, but I do know the head is extremely vascular, so the lack of blood stains makes me think very superficial.

Only Truman Capote could write this story and do it justice. It doesn't get any stranger than this. o_O

I see an arrest coming in the next few days.

moo
Dominick Dunne came to my mind this morning

Can anyone explain how 2 shooters can shoot out of the side window of a truck? How would the driver be able to aim?

And only 5 bullets each.

I don't see how it's possible.
Crew cab with four doors? Two shooters, right front and back seats. Just tuning in, so I have no idea if it was a single cab truck. But even at that, if there were three people in the truck, the other two passengers could shoot out the window.

No, it's pronounced Alec.

The last name is pronounced "Murdock." Makes sense when you consider that Alex is pronounced "Alec" (or, "Alek").

Absolutely. This would have made a perfect episode of “Dominick Dunne’s Power, Privilege, and Justice.”

Why is a guy that rich changing his own tire? I am not rich and I have both insurance and AAA for that.

Sometimes you're in a rural area and it may take forever for someone AAA to get there. AAA usually doesn't have their own fleet in rural areas. They contract out. This just happened to us as AAA eliminated their fleet and I'm not in a rural area. Last 2 times we've used it was a joke. One time I called someone else

I too have AAA and roadside assistance. I drive a similar vehicle as his and I'd have no problem changing my own tire. Would take 5 minutes vs. waiting potentially 1-2-3+ hours for someone to arrive regardless if I have someone who would do it for me. AAA for me is more about tows, etc...

It's simply not a big deal. It's almost sad at the amount of people that don't know how to change a tire.

Country lawyer, gotta be rugged.

Or he has the skills to perform one of the most basic maintenance procedures

Just an interesting observation with this case going on, wtoc.com has a report from just over in Beaufort county, complete with suspect and vehicle description, looking for a man who shot at a woman over a near traffic collision. And still no “seeking info” type of response in the AM case?

If I lived in the area, I'd be blowing up the phones at dispatch as a killer is on the loose. LE hasn't given me any reason to believe this is an isolated incident. My family and my safety is paramount. No reporting is absolute garbage

wistv.com has a report that says “updated 2 hours ago” but it’s a repeat of all we know with an interesting wrap, “anyone with information about this incident” please call.......
Whatever the case, I don’t think SLED is buying this truck story. As I’ve noted too much today, LE is not looking for a vehicle that was involved in this. If they were, we would see reports like with the flower pot heist and road rage shooter. I so wish I was on FB and able to read comments from that area.

The distance between those casings and the tire is...so short. Surely the shooter at least had the barrel of his weapon (or his extended hand) outside his own truck? Casings are ejected in one direction from the gun - and we can see these are evenly spaced and curve very close to the bumper and left back tire of the SUV.

Wasn't he therefore a sitting duck, squatting there to change his tire? He couldn't have known until the first shot rang out that he should seek cover. Those shots are very closely spaced.

How do you envision this happening? I will say that having those flat-free tires seemed not to be helpful in this case. Very strange that no bullets hit the car, given where the casings are. Almost as if someone was shooting at the sky (to intimidate?)

My thoughts are that the Murdaugh family aren’t well liked in their area and I think that puts it mildly. I would imagine a large part of the town has ties to some of the things the family have been accused of - a couple of those incidents involving teens.

Those teens would have aunts, uncles, perhaps a lot of cousins who could all potentially be looking in some street justice.

My only conclusion is a crime of opportunity. Perhaps someone in the truck just happened upon AM changing his tire, one of them noticed it was him and “took their chance” to get some revenge. I could maybe even see all the missed shots due to the shooter trying to hurry and shoot and get out of that immediate area quickly.

The only piece for me is if it was meant as only a warning shot or were hoping to kill or maim and was just a bad or nervous shooter.

Yes, and SLED would be wise to not violate anyone's due process.

What is being assumed to be spent rounds could very well belong to AM. He may have been just standing there, or crouched behind the vehicle, firing off his own weapon at a passing vehicle.

Had he returned fire, I can’t imagine a scenario where we wouldn’t have heard about that.

It wouldn't be that out of the ordinary for LE to maintain anonymity in terms of who in the legal profession has a SC carry permit.

What if… the truck pulled up behind him as he was leaving Moselle, and he knew he was being followed. So he took an out of the way route to shake them off. Unable to shake them ,they shot his tire out. Then the scenario that’s being reported ensued.

Or he could have shot them off elsewhere <modsnip>. Many hypotheses available to us.

If some of the rounds are AM's, he ought to then possess the gun when LE arrives, right? And the ballistics can be checked. And that would mean the casings count (for the white truck shooters) is off.

How AM managed to run along the side of the road and the side of his own car, shooting off rounds is beyond me. Why would he do that?
