Assisted suicide -- so they think AM really tried to kill himself?? JMO.

Makes me curious if the surveillance footage from the church across the road from the "incident" captured Eddie's vehicle...

there is a blue truck parked outside Eddy‘s house if you look at Google Street view.

LE knows where AM is located and they must know he isn't going anywhere. Otherwise, he would have already been arrested.
They could get him for one or two charges in order to hold him until the rest of the case is solidly built.

So AM wanted life insurance money to go to BM? AM was planning to die last weekend? Good heavens!

"Hey, bud. I promise I'll shoot you but not kill you. You can trust me. I got this."
(Made up scenario from me.)

As this news outlet exclusively reported earlier tonight, the first arrest has been made in connection with the September 4, 2021 shooting of prominent South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh.

Of interest? The warrants for the arrest of 61-year-old Curtis Edward “Eddie” Smith refer to Murdaugh as a “co-defendant” in the case.

Looks like from the warrants Alex confessed yesterday. Wow. The plan was for Curtis to actually kill Alex for a life insurance policy for Alex’s son. 10 million.

So in the end was just random luck that he survived the head shot? This is wild

These may be the charges….?

Curtis Edward Smith, 61, was charged with assisted suicide, assault and battery of a high aggravated nature, pointing and presenting a firearm, insurance fraud, and conspiracy to commit insurance fraud in the shooting of Alex Murdaugh.

Super confused by what insurance they were planning to defraud? Medical insurance because he wasn’t really shot?

Do we know of any connection between Curtis Edward Smith and Steven Smith?

"But there are other deaths that could be connected to the family, including the 2015 death of 19-year-old Steven Smith, who was found dead in the middle of a rural road in Hampton County, three miles from where his car had run out of gas. Authorities said it seemed like he had been the victim of a hit-and-run.

A statement from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) last month said that the agency "has opened an investigation into the death of Stephen Smith based upon information gathered during the course of the double murder investigation of Paul and Maggie Murdaugh."

Murder, Money & Mystery: Were the Killings of a Mom and Son Connected to 3 Previous Deaths?
I'm still figuring the ancestry out, but it appears the distant family relationship is between the Murdaugh's and CE Smith.

And it goes all the way back to Josiah Putnam Murdaugh, father of Randolph "Buster" Murdaugh, Jr and (I believe) great-great grandfather of CE Smith (through CE Smith's mother).

So were the murders of MM and PM also for insurance money, to cover for the fraud at the law firm?

But, like, what kind of charge is “assisted suicide”???? Isn’t that usually just called attempted murder?
