What I found really funny was the defense suggesting that when he was asked to change so they could take his clothing, he just might have put his kakahis and shirt on from earlier in the day. Sure the dirty clothing? Okay well the lady that does his laundry never has seen those clothes again so wonder what he did with them after he changed again?

I’ve only watched this case out of the corner of my eye, haven’t posted in here. But it looks quite clear to me that Murdaugh is guilty.

And I’m betting the jury will see it that way too.

Good to see you here @steeltowngirl.

I agree that the evidence is there for conviction beginning with AM lying from the earliest that he never stepped foot near the kennels on Monday.

However, I fear that unless the jurors made up their minds 2 weeks ago, what's happened since then could be very confusing to jurors, and confusion always plants seeds of reasonable doubt. Only need 1 confused juror!

IMO, the presentation of witnesses and 403, 404 evidence really jumped around without explanation to the jurors. Unlike the jurors, we've had the benefit of the witness testimony (twice) and evidence "in camera" (without the jury present) but I think some jurors could be left scratching their heads after a week of financial testimony, proving AM murdered his wife and son.

And today's cross of the lead SLED Agent Owen was brutal! (My heart goes out to Agent Owen who lost his mother on Tuesday and had to testify today).

I fear if the defense is given the opportunity to successfully cross-examine (i.e., in textbook fashion) cousin Eddie (Curtis Smith), there could be reasonable doubt that this was a single-shooter double homicide.

So I'm reluctant for the state to call cousin Eddie to testify on Thursday! o_O MOO

Ok....so....The defense opened the door to the roadside shooting testimony...

Defense table smirks.....

Dick says: "Here hold my beer."

This is not going to end well for the defense.

Not knowingly. At the time of the GJ, that information was deemed to be correct.

It's not a lie if one believes it at the time, in my book.

I keep coming back to this incomprehensible suggestion that any killer would come to a murder expecting to kill a victim with the victim’s own weapons. Two of them. What killer would rely on getting that access? What person would believe such an hallucination. AW is depending on it for sure. Otherwise, who is left? Talk about the turd in the punch bowl that folks keep trying to ignore…

Well said and it's true in the end, it's in the jury's hands and we're just reading the book as it plays out. Like many books we interpret them differently yet invest ourselves in the moment.

Yep. I'm on a couple of book forums. People can have very different ideas about a book, including one that most people enjoy or even love.

I'm surprised to read comments about today's proceedings around the internet - many people seem to believe the defense screwed up by first opposing CE as a witness, and now opening the door for him to be called. I don't know enough about criminal proceedings, particularly in SC, to know whether that's true or not.

But I do know that defense attorneys must get paid and will get tired/cranky/less prepared if the retainer isn't replenished. I don't think Griffin & Co are defending AM out of the goodness of their hearts. If he's convicted and they've opened the door to appeals, if they handle the appeals, they'll want a new retainer. IMO. If he has any money left.

AM must also be paying his other attorneys to prep for those trials (or his Griffin doing all of it? I wonder, have no clue).

IMO. If MM had only $57 left in her account, I wonder how much AM now has. Would love to know!

And I cringed when the defense asked Agent Owen if he could confirm whether or not anybody in LE ever asked AM to produce the clothes he was wearing in the leaning tree photo, and Owen replied he could not.

Interview with Alex listen closely:

"Where were dogs when you came back? (Came back from his mother’s, he already stated he wasn't at the kennels)

Dogs: “They were like they were when I —- (stops himself) I didn’t put dogs up."

He didn't ask him if he put the dogs up...duh

Court TV tonight said Dave Owens mother passed away last night. Then to testify today he had to be distraught.

Thank you so much! Things are starting to make sense to me. That's why the State is going to rest tomorrow and not call him. Personally, I can't imagine that the jury doesn't already know about it. It was national news at the time.

This might be the right time to stop.

Just a question… did AM ever wear a wedding ring? We know MM wedding ring was on the floor of the Mercedes.
