I believe the back sliding glass door was unlocked, but not positive. However...they did have it taped up.

If the detective across the street was called first and did find the bodies, he could have gone around to the back door to get in the house. Also...since he is LE...they would be correct in stating THEY found the bodies. He would have been acting in the capacity of an off-duty officer, but still part of the LE team.

I'm not sure that was officially reported, only that there was no forced entry. The taped up part I was assuming was because that window & door were points of entry into the house (not POI for the perp); but there was basically nothing in the backyard to tie crime scene tape around - like they did to the entire front yard for days - which i found weird - send someone to home depot for stakes.

That's true, they may include him being LE found the bodies, but who knows!! Wish they would throw us a few more bones... like TOD!!!

I heard earlier that he did not tell his inlaws for some time. Does anyone know how long that was??

It's been reported that he didnt call them until Thursday, 2 days after the murders.

So true!!! But hey, I could use that as a convenient excuse to give this laptop to the kiddos & buy that cute pink sony vaio that's at best buy right now ;-)

I know I was so mad I didnt get the pink one LOL but i just had it like a few weeks got it for my birthday.

Well...it would make sense that Chris would set it up so that it appeared someone came in the basement window and left out the backdoor, imo. A perp wouldn't leave through the window and he couldn't lock the door behind him.

I want the TOD released, too. I know they know!!! Give it up, LE!

Okey dokey,

Does anyone know ... When might an autopsy report be released, or might one already have been released to family? Can Sheri's family request death certificates on the children and Sheri and if so, wouldn't a cause of death be noted on them?

Finally...what do you think are the possibilities of a very angry family member who wants to get people outraged, releasing information from the autopsy report or death certificate?

Sorry I went back and clarified my statement... Points of entry to the house, not POI for the perp. I'm just assuming they taped it to keep people out. Still don't know why they didn't just tape the entire back yard. Although it was cool that morning; and I know in my yard you can see footsteps through the mist on the grass so maybe they didn't see footsteps and had no reason to believe anyone left via the backyard.

Ah...

Why get people outraged... Maybe to say, "the perp did this to Sheri, and that to Gavin, and that to Garrett" -- if you knew them, if you loved them and you have information that would help the police, PLEASE help put this person behind bars.

They will keep the autopsy report until trial unless it is leaked. The family won't be allowed to see it either as it is part of the ongoing investigation. They will list the COD as homicide on death certificates, I think.

Zero possibility of an angry family member releasing such information because they won't have it, imo.

The ME relayed all questions about the autopsy to the Prosecutors office, which hasn't said didly. When my brother died, all I had to do was fax a copy of my drivers license, my birth certificate and his bc to the ME's office proving we were related to get his Death Certificate... it was quite simple.

Good question... but I would say no. People are already pretty outraged, but in this case I would say it's imperitive (sp?) for them to buy their time to make sure this case is air tight so he doesn't walk on some stupid technicality. As much as I want an arrest, I want it to stick even worse.

As I recall...

When looking at some of the pictures of the haystacks, there seemed to be a yellow tape streaming there i.e. as if to be running down the back yard from that side of the house.

ALSO -- IF a family member thought they were going to get a phone call from LE on an arrest, i.e. maybe they were given a warning, would they send out emails to friends as soon as they heard of the arrest?

It would be quite a giveaway for there not to be prints in the wet grass. Also if the prints went outside for a little ways and turned around to come back in the house.

This was a huge clue in a very old case. It snowed and there was a set of prints walking out of the house to the spot where the shooter stood...then went back into the house. They still could not get a conviction! (This was back in the late 60s, I think.)

For those who PM me with your MySpace info... I will log into it tomorrow and take care of adding you later tomorrow.

I have not heard from Mario yet. He is now a friend on my Myspace account and he has one of my email addy's to contact me with if he wants to.

I am not sure how much longer tonight I will be online

Well yes, it would say homicide - but in my experience with IL death certificates, it does get pretty graphic detailing exactly how the death occurred.

Wrinkles,

I read on one of the other comment boards (the PD, I'm almost sure) that some information was released to Sheri's mother ... I don't recall exactly what and I can't refer you back to the exact post.

So .. something may have been released .. if the poster was correct.

I would assume LE would ask them not to talk about it. Besides...LE would probably tell them only a few minutes beforehand not hours.

What is the "PD"? Is it a news site? Link please?

Thanks, don't recall seeing that... now I'll have to go look again ;-)

JMO, but I wouldn't send emails out to anyone until they had him. Who knows who you can really trust when something like this happens. He seemed to be begging Sheri's friends to add him as a friend and asking anyone with info to call him. If he didn't know these people, why would he send them an email with any pertinent info relating to the case??? I think SS was dead-on when she said he's looking for info, not giving it.

re: the above request from SC's brother, has anyone from WS invited him to view or join this thread? I suppose that could have been done through MySpace. If that is not a TOS violation, he would certainly find interest & support here.

If I had my stuff together and had the Websleuths myspace page up and running I would invite him. If anyone else can please feel free to do so.
