Hum. MCSO uncovered information of "concern" that, once case is closed and debriefed, MCSO will likely share with other entities. Hum. Hum.

Also interesting: the warrant strike team was working the case almost continuously. Hum, again.

Staton obviously frustrated with lame leads.

Staton: I would love to tell you what we know, this is what we found. I wish I could tell you this.
(paraphrased)

Staton expresses confidence investigation is moving in right direction and has narrowed its focus. Is on the right track.

When asked if people would be shocked to find out what they know, Staton took a long silence.

"I know Im taking a long pause on that I have to think through that answer. I think there are things that come out of this investigation that will surprise you, that you'll think about later on when it's over. We have a knowledge of things we don't want to know about ... of things we wish we didn't know," he added.

I don't like the sounds of this at all. This is scary.

Anyone know? At least one throw away cell was purchased at the Lloyd Center. Is there any relation to that area and the other police departments now involved? Thanks.

Nope, Lloyd Center is in downtown Portland (East Side) which would be under the jurisdiction of Portland Police Department.

BBM

I posted this on the Presser Thread, but back in July, Staton said in an interview that all of these agencies (Port of Portland, Troutdale, Fairview) were involved (transcript July 2, 2010).

It's a very interesting interview in hindsight and in light of today's press release (scaling back/focus of investigation):

http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2010/07/kyron_horman_investigation_tra.html

snip/bbm:
"Staton: "The other agencies we've been supported by the Portland Police Bureau, the Port of Portland Police, we've been supported by Troutdale, Fairview, Gresham, Beaverton Police Department, the list goes on ... there's no specific group, we're just on this rotational piece. They'll pull out to get things organized within their own organizations, and other agencies have then brought people into cover for that. It's just been a constant rotation. I can give you a list of agencies, but the agencies are astronomical that have actually stepped up and said, 'We're here.'"

Page 2 of the article, another tidbit that leaves me wondering:

Staton said the investigation has so far produced a large stack of six-inch binders full of information on the case. He suggested that a number of other cases were likely to result from the investigation, but did not elaborate on them.

red/

It is scary what they are finding out.

When Staton was describing the narrowing down of areas and explaining that some doors are now shut, he said this:

"A lot of the things we looked at or suspected we no longer look at, we no longer suspect them," Staton said, referring to more than 3,000 tips taken in the case. "A number of the leads have been significant."

Other than TH, the only one I know of they suspected would be DS, does that mean she's out of the picture now?

I don't know much about Oregon, but, and this is a big but...................maybe there's someone in LE involved?

Can I was where is this from, exactly? I've been looking for your post for like 20 minutes. I knew I read somewhere that info would be shared after the case is closed. Seems to me, this supports the *ring* theory, but maybe I'm not thinking of what other entities might be interested in specific information about this case.

My friend's cousin's wife had a boyfriend 10 years ago. It was discovered just recently, by the ex-boyfriend's mother, that he had sexually explicit photos on his computer of himself and the cousin's wife's daughter when she was four years old. It is no longer a state or county case but due to the charges, it is federal.

Maybe the county has cut down because it's gone federal and the feds are handling it. Just a possibility. JMO

over $1 MILLION dollars?

I would like to see that breakdown.

I was typing notes during the presser. New to this WS stuff. Thought I was entering on a thread during the live feed. Staton made this 'we have concerns' statement after someone asked a "folo" to the Portland Tribune report that a number of other cases could result from the Ky investigation. Staton said info had been uncovered that was a "concern" and it would be shared in "debriefings" after the case/investigation (?) was completed. He also looked very uncomfortable IMO.

I'm not a great transcriber. But I scribbled notes. Hope this helps?

I think this presser was particularly interesting because I don't think it was planned and was the result of buzz stemming from Staton's meeting with the Business Alliance - his closing statements were revealing and frightening as to where the investigation is now focusing....

http://www.kgw.com/news/Sheriff-No-evidence-Kyron-Horman-is-not-alive-103003704.html

snipped:
"He said investigators were focusing on selective targets in the case that focus would help "support a conclusion".

IMO, LE has a "conclusion" based on what they have found. But obviously, we do not have Kyron, so now they can focus on this avenue in order to find out what happened to him and hopefully bring him home. After the first few weeks when Kyron went missing, it was constantly stated that TH most likely did not act alone. My personal feeling is that TH passed this poor boy to someone else.

But, if LE has all her phone and computer records, wouldn't they be able to trace these parties? How else would one get in contact with someone to pass a child off??

If it was my child missing, I wouldn't care how much it costs. I just want my child back. I'm sure all of that money has gone to thoroughly investigating this crime and trying to bring Kyron home. They are doing the best they can and shouldn't be criticized so harshly when we don't know the innards the investigation, what they have and don't have. We are lucky we don't have to have to first hand experience with a case like this like KH and DY have to.

Other cases?
I think the Sherrif corrected the "other cases" to "other concerns" - what I heard was something such as: not so much other cases per se, but definitely "other concerns for the Sherriff's office". Asked if these concerns were criminal, Stanton said he couldn't comment on that ... and then...

My mind immediately went to all the marijuana fields they found in the course of the investigation/searching.

With apologies for my mind. Guess I've been hangin' too long in the parkin' lot. :floorlaugh:

TY! I went back and listened and he refers to a possible investigation and/or a potential *notification process to other gov't entities* -- I wonder what he has in mind. I think what they're seeing may be beyond their jurisdiction -- involving other states and/or countries. Maybe that's why it could be an investigation (local) and/or notification (non-local). I'm definitely leaning hard toward child 🤬🤬🤬🤬/human trafficking ....ugh, ugh, ugh.
