Oh M - I LOVE stuffed bell peppers - could you post the receipe here when you get time??!!! TIA!! :seeya:

I sure HOPE that JSS sets a September trial date tomorrow... anyone know if it will be streamed? on WAT, no doubt??

This is the recipe I used and they turned out phenomenal! Can't wait to make them again. I heart Pinterest :)

4 large bell peppers, any color
1 pound of very lean ground beef
1/2 of a large onion, diced
1 cup of cooked rice, either white or brown rice works
about 3/4 cup of tomato sauce- from an 8 ounce can
1/4 cup diced tomato, small dice
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, or 1 clove of minced garlic
1 T. fresh parsley, diced, if desired
salt and pepper to taste
In a large skillet over medium high heat, brown the ground beef and the onion. Drain off any fat. Add the 1 cup of cooked rice, 3/4 cup of tomato sauce, diced tomato, garlic, parsley and salt and pepper to taste. Stir and simmer while preparing the peppers. Cut the tops off of the peppers and remove the seeds and membranes. Place peppers in a baking pan with fairly high sides(about 2 inches). Spoon the beef filling into the peppers, packing down somewhat, to the top. There should be a little tomato sauce left in the can, so fill the can about 3/4 full with water and pour it into the bottom of the baking dish. Cover the pan tightly with foil. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 45-50 minutes. Check to see if the peppers are tender. If not, cover and bake another 5-10 minutes. Remove foil and add a little cheese on top of each pepper, if desired. Bake just til cheese melts. Don't let it get rubbery like I did!

It's 102 degrees F. here today with the humidity. :( It's so uncomfortable if you don't have air conditioning. :hot: The air is so thick you can't breathe.

It was miserable here, too. I hate having the a/c on...I love the fresh air and feel claustrophobic with all of the windows closed. I had to suck it up today and turn it on though. Probably the rest of the week too, as the forecast is high 90's until Friday. Yuck.

i was reading this is the slowest season EVER for hurricanes to start.

There have been five named storms so far this year and the first two were very, very early. IIRC, the first one was before the official start of hurricane season.

Your source may be right in that I think none of the storms so far have hit hurricane strength. My first source for tropical weather is http://stormcarib.com/ which I love, because I can get updates from locals on the island. Back in 1989, it took more than three weeks to get phone service back to the island and let people know that things were okay. Thank goodness for the internet and cell phones!

I think i read it on The Drudge Report. Where do you live? Fortunately I wasn't in SC when Hugo hit.

:lurk:I'm coming out of lurking after a lovely vacay from this case.

Nurmi is going way far into protecting the jury from themselves by claiming the right to monitor their Twitter accounts. He's also trying to protect the public from having to watch the trial live-streamed.

I'm sure that, if it were possible, he'd also ask JSS to ban spectators from the courtroom as well as the media.

I can almost imagine a last-minute surprise motion to keep the names of the mitigation witnesses secret and have them wear paper bags over their heads when they testify!

MAJOR SARCASM going on here and just :moo:

:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

CarolinaMoon, thanks for that!!! I am just imagining us staring at our computer screens to image after image of witness' hands (a la Darryl Brewer)!! And us analyzing extensively/sleuthing each set of hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, I would love to live on a boat. I love boats. This summer has not been good boating weather so my boat just sits at the dock. What kind of boat did you live on???

We were trying to refit Eilean; she's a 1936 Fife Bermudian ketch, loa 96 ft. We were living on the deck for a while because the interior was gutted. Tons of fun with a baby! Little bit of trivia...the music video Rio by Duran Duran was filmed using Eilean.

http://www.eilean.it/en/home/

We ended up raising an old 72 foot work boat that had sunk in the mangroves and converted that into a workshop and living quarters.

The refit of Eilean was too big of a job, both in terms of work and money. She was finally sold to the Italian watchmaker Panerai and was relaunched in 2009.

If I am not mistaken, the "Mexican" conversation happened on FB and it looks like she is not the one who mentions her name. To me, and this is based on the bad copy Nurmi provided, it looks like her friends that she's talking to bring her up and Tara ceases responding.

The twitter incident, the one from March, she clearly didn't do anything wrong. She does not mention Jodi only that she can tweet but not discuss the trial, which she didn't. So the defense has nothing. If it was me, I would have avoided the internet in general, but Tara, from what we have seen, did not break the admonition. You can't control what other people talk to you about, only how you respond. She responded appropriately.

This is something found by Jodi's supporters and, undoubtedly, sent in to Nurmi. Nurmi, who has no trouble letting other people do his work for him, even if it is not right, used it in his new, weird motion. If there was anything else on the other jurors they would have found it by now. As long as the deliberating jurors, to everyone's knowledge, were honoring their admonitions, then they have nothing. Trials are made public all the time. Nurmi is really reaching by blaming her conviction on the media coverage. It's because he literally has nothing else to work with. Who would ever overturn this on appeal with this evidence?

bbm

Meebee, thanks for calming my nerves...I always get nervous when I read these things, thinking about what if CMJA gets a whole new trial down the line?

I'm sure you're right about Tara's FB/twitter postings. You're right, it was a very BAD COPY, and I don't think Nurmi should even be allowed to put something like that on record which is so unclear! How is JSS supposed to translate/understand that? He gives no context or explanation with it. Such as, who are the other names which are re-tweeting/copying?? For example, it doens't have only TaraKelley name next to the comment, there is someone else's name that looks like they copied/re-tweeted what she said. Maybe I'm just twitter illiterate. I'm so confused!

I'll have to go back and read over it again.

I now live in southeastern Connecticut, on the shoreline. Where we can get both hurricanes and blizzards.

I am thankful that I don't live in tornado alley. To me it is scary how fast they can pop up and how devastating they can be. At least with a hurricane, you can prepare for it days ahead of time.

I've been through one wicked, wicked hurricane that lasted for more than 24 hours and remember the racket from the wind when the storm was at its peak. I can't imagine what a monster tornado must look and sound like when it is bearing down.

We had a number of weak tornadoes here in Connecticut early this summer, but nothing like what the Midwest sees. My heart goes out to those people.

Twitter has recently changed the way it allows for users tweets to be subpoenaed, after taking a hard line against a courts ability to ask for tweets to be handed over it now concedes that Twitter owns the tweets and there is no expectation of privacy, read more: http://www.socialmediaesq.com/2012/...concedes-and-allows-subpoena-of-users-tweets/ Tara has made her account private at this time, but if her tweets are ever part of a subpoena anything she tweeted while sequestered could be made available, whether they were deleted or not. I am not sure what this will mean for possible appeallate issues, but it does play into Nurmi's argument that a non-sequestered jury in a high profile case has been problematic for Jodi, which is just infuriating as I am sure we all want the verdict to stand, and nobody wants everybody to have to go through this trial all over again.

Wow Mrs G, thanks! I had no idea. But come to think of it, I have heard about many cases lately where someone is arrested based on something they said on Twitter. It just goes to show that today's generation I don't think understand the implication of having EVERY SINGLE THING they say online recorded FOREVER. Forever. That is just crazy. I think they purposefully went after Tara b/c they know she's younger and that she is probably more active on Twitter/Facebook...also CMJA's brainwashed friends have been following her post-verdict interviews/webimars and stuff, so they know she was active in these things. I also think CMJA has somehting personal against Tara b/c of what Tara said about CMJA staring her down in court.

I think JSS should make it VERY CLEAR to Nurmi that CMJA and her friends are to leave Tara alone and not go digging into where they don't belong. It could even be seen as harassing a former juror, b/c I'm sure JSS can come to the conclusion that CMJA's "friends" on the outside are the ones finding this info. and passing it along to Nurmi. Like when Demarte's laptop was stolen or whatever that was...don't know if that was true or not...but this sounds along the same lines. And JSS Should be VERY CLEAR to Nurmi that CMJA's friends are to STAY AWAY FROM TARA.

Heading there now! Seriously planning on making them again later this week.

I wasn't sure whether or not to post the recipe here, but we're so off-topic I figured it wouldn't matter. :floorlaugh:

You're exactly right. The twitter motion is weird in itself, but him including these poor quality copies is bizarre. You're right, he doesn't explain what it is or what the judge is seeing. How is she supposed to know what is what? He just staples a couple of copies on there. He's just getting it on there. That's what this motion is really about. Just getting the info out there for future appeals that the judge should have sequestered the jury. It's spurious and amateurish.

Also, to elaborate the tweet, it looks like in March she tweeted something totally unrelated to the case, inquiring about a score or something. In May, someone re-tweets it to Mark Eiglarsh to show how innocent the tweet was, presumably because people had been accusing her of breaking the admonition by tweeting. She then tweets that she is allowed to tweet as long as she doesn't discuss the case. I am fairly new to twitter but that is what I gather from what I can see.

So clearly she has done nothing wrong. I wouldn't have tweeted or FB'd if I were a juror, and I wouldn't have responded to that re-tweet at all, because some could make the argument that the tweet was discussing the trial. Although, she was just saying she cannot discuss the trial. So there's no problem here. And she was an alternate anyway.

I lived in the Caribbean on a boat for 10 years, including the very active year of 1995 when we got hit 3 times in less than 2 weeks including Luis. My ex is still there, so I do pay attention to the weather all season long, and yes, it is very quiet right now. The Sahara dust hasn't moved far off of Africa and the more recent systems coming off of the continent are getting smothered when they hit the dry air over the Atlantic. Really strange...I've not seen it like this so late in the season, especially when there were named storms so early on.

Cross your fingers that this is a gentle hurricane season. I dealt with Sandy last year and Irene the year before. No power for a week both times. I could deal with the weather when I lived on a boat, but I don't like it so much on land.

Wow gcharlie I didn't know you lived on a boat before! That's so cool. I just came back from a vacation is Los Cabos (!!)....anyway, a small rainstorm was coming through, and the day before the rain started the winds had already picked up, and that was the day we had decided to do a little glass-bottom boat tour. Anyway, we came a little out of the marina, and my husband and I felt so nervous b/c the boat seemed so small, so we cut the tour a little short and asked him to go back!! I'm sure it would have been fine, but I have no experience with the ocean, so I don't really know what kinds of things different kinds of boats can handle, and I was just nervous going farther out. The waves were pretty choppy. After that, I got to thinking how brave the sea-men were back in the day, when they would just set out not even knowing what was in store ahead of them, no idea if there was even land!!

All of this boat talk fascinates me...I have such a weak stomach I don't know if I could do it.

Does anyone else watch the reality show Below Deck on the Bravo network? I don't watch a lot of reality TV but this show has become my guilty pleasure.

It's fine to posit it here, but I don't want to lose it! :floorlaugh:

Ohhh interesting m1279...I would love to watch that show, but don't have Bravo. I am also suddenly very interested in oceans/sea stuff after our vacation. Like what gcharlie was saying about living on the deck of their boat and trying to renovate their boat...whew...that stuff just amazes me b/c it is so opposite of what I am, and it just fascinates me (fyi if you haven't guessed, I'm not a very adventureous-type!!). This vacation was maybe the second time ever that I had actually swam in ocean water, and it was so scary!! It's like, I just felt like the ocean was just gonna take me away into the blue infinity, never to come back!! I was just amazed by the whole vastness of it all, and also scared at the same time.

I know right? Bizarre weather patterns everywhere.

Nice to see you on here again LinasK. It's been awhile. :seeya:
--------

Hi, it's been so cool in Northeast Ohio I am scared to see the winter come.:scared: We had few days over 80, swimming passes were a loss of money. About a month ago, had the dog out about 3am..I could see steam come out of my mouth.:banghead: Farm almanac says bad winter. :scared:

I think it may have started because Tara was active on FB so soon after the trial, and because she had tweeted during the trial (and I think to Mark Eiglarsh of all people).

Anyone who sticks their head up in this case is scrutinised, that is just the way it has been, I noticed a few people on Twitter discussing her in not so kind terms early on, although they are a lot kinder towards her now.

The question has been raised, if she was active on Twitter during the trial, was she going online and reading? It is possible, actually, it's likely, most people don't tweet and not read. Refer to discussion about her Tweeting to Mark Eiglarsh from HLN >> go to 23 mins here >> http://www.blogtalkradio.com/websle...as-true-crime-radio-sunday-night-8-pm-eastern and let's face it, that is an issue! She was an alternate thank god, but the jurors had the opportunity to view social media, and we know it was crazy, so it does make you wonder if she did follow the admonition.

There is a reason she is being criticised.
