Nore, congratulations on Johnny's job!

I wish Bernina would check in. Sounds like the fires are worse. only 5% contained, and expected to worsen over the weekend. More evacuations expected. Be safe, any friends in that area.

----------
Thank you YesorNo. I am not Catholic but for some reason I have always had special love for St. Jude. He answered a prayer. Johnny found a nice job! I feel help when I think of the people on this board. We are here for everyone to get help if needed. I wish everyone (except Jodi) a peaceful weekend. We have much to be thankful for,Niner had surgery and is doing well~much to be thankful for. Loveya all. :loveyou:

I'm glad Johnny found a nice job and your prayers were answered.
St. Jude is the patron saint of desperate cases and lost causes. Did you know that Danny Thomas built the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital because of the prayers to St. Jude that were answered: "Help me find my way in life, and I will build you a shrine", he said and he did, but it wasn't just a shrine, but a hospital that treats children with cancer for no charge. Now that he is dead, Marlo carry on his legacy. Such wonderful people to do so much good.

Hope you and yours have a peaceful weekend, too. :seeya:

Missy's :jail: days must be very boring for her in that little cubicle- all by her lonesome self. No barbecues for her- oh, but maybe she'll have a soy burger. :floorlaugh: :cheerful:

FYI: "The USDA is now disclosing the names of some of the retail stores that may have gotten contaminated hamburger.
Nearly 2 million pounds of ground beef were recalled by Wolverine Packing Co. in Detroit on Monday after 11 people in four states fell sick."

Here's the list of states and the stores that may have the tainted hamburger meat:

Check your ground meat this weekend.

How far away are the fires from you, Bernina? :scared:

About 27 miles as the crow flies..........you can see the glow from the fires and the occasional flames at night.
There hasn't been any type of huge fire in this "valley" here since I've lived here 19 years and I've never found anyone who knew of one in the past 50+years. Because most of this area, until the last 10 years, didn't have electricity to the anyplace beyond 1 mile either side of Highway 89, most people hauled water. The first thing you did with your property was clear fire breaks.....I still clear the fire breaks once or twice a year on both of our properties.

With this particular fire, it may have been started by the community of young people that are living off the land in the canyon, the same group of vegan nomads that my nephew and niece are part of. Fire restrictions were already in place at all the legit campgrounds and someone is always there to check campsites for any violations.

And the rain has been cancelled. That's Arizona forecasters for you. Best thing to do is watch a pile of red ants, they have a better grip on the weather conditions.:floorlaugh:

BBM Kellie Pickler reminds me of me- she does go on and on

Glad you're OK, Bernina. :seeya:

How many times did she try to pressure him to come up there? It seems like three or more times...not counting the time she did via voicemail after she had murdered him.

I could be wrong, but the Crater Lake/Coast/Shakespeare itinerary seemed to be very important to her, and he didn't seem to be interested at all. I don't think he ever planned on such a trip. Once she heard he was going to Washington State, she may have been delusionally optimistic since that is the general region in which she lived.

Has anyone else given this any thought?

Yes, I had the same thought. He was probably telling her he would maybe stop by and she heard that as yes, he's coming. I think Travis was trying to ease his way out of her life and just figured he could come up with excuses about why he couldn't visit until she either got the message or moved on.

And she probably DID get the message, at least somewhat, which is one of the things that propelled her "road trip" to kill him.

I don't know if you all would remember that I was going to find out more about missy's :jail: followers (maybe some 2 months ago).

Well, I did a lot of research on who they are and what they believe, put the info on my Wordpad, and then decided to delete all of it.

I just had to know what their "story'" was (you all know I'm nosy ), but after I found out, it wasn't really important anymore to me.

I did find it was, sort of, "phone tag"- one person would speak and the others would follow- sometimes mixing/changing things. :scared: It's obvious that they believe the :liar:.. and some, because they themselves were abused, commiserate with missy :jail: .:aktion1:

When I was on The Trial Diaries website today, guess who was making comments again? None other than Mr. Barwood (alias- geebee2- you remember him, the guy from England- he was talking to Vinnie in HLN one evening) trying to stir the pot (he's like a broken record :violin: and no one wants to listen to him as he tries to come to missy's :jail:rescue :bud:). :floorlaugh:

http://thetrialdiaries.com/2014/05/...t-cameras-yet-still-no-answers-pics-included/

Anyway, I thought I deleted everything, but I did find something left over from my research, this AM on my documents. I know after I researched the followers, I needed to find "something"- some "syndrome"??? that these misguided people had to explain why they see things so differently than what we see- something so obvious to us.

Well, I found this- The Dunning-Kruger Effect. It beautifully explains the utter confidence of those who, with no expertise, remain stubborn in their views regardless of overwhelming evidence. It makes you want to shake them by the collar and scream about how stupid they are.
-----------

"The Dunning-Kruger Effect, named after David Dunning and Justin Kruger of Cornell University, occurs where people fail to adequately assess their level of competence — or specifically, their incompetence — at a task and thus consider themselves much more competent than everyone else. This lack of awareness is attributed to their lower level of competence robbing them of the ability to critically analyse their performance, leading to a significant overestimate of themselves. Put more crudely, they're too stupid to realize they're stupid.

The inverse also applies: competent people tend to underestimate their ability compared to others; this is known as impostor syndrome." (this my younger son has)

"- people who don't know enough also don't know enough to realise that they don't know enough .." :floorlaugh:

http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Dunning-Kruger_effect

And this:

"The skills needed to produce logically sound arguments, for instance, are the same skills that are necessary to recognize when a logically sound argument has been made. Thus, if people lack the skills to produce correct answers, they are also cursed with an inability to know when their answers, or anyone else's, are right or wrong. They cannot recognize their responses as mistaken, or other people's responses as superior to their own."

What do you all think? Right? Wrong? :floorlaugh:

Thanks for all the research, this was very interesting.

The one thing that I don't remember seeing in the links on the Dunning-Kruger effect is, what happens when the people who think they're competent are shown that they aren't? I would be curious to know what they do then. Do they go, oops, my bad? Or do they continue, like Mr. Barwood, to accept only the evidence they want and ignore evidence to the contrary?

The interesting thing to me is that you mention Barwood is from the UK. I was looking at the change.org petition that wants to get JA a new trial based on Dr. Horn "perjuring" himself at trial, and I noticed a great many of the signers were from the UK. What's that about, I wonder?

BTW, I really appreciated your post on the signs/symptoms/diagnostic criteria of Borderline PD and Narcissistic PD. I bookmarked it for when the retrial occurs (if ever) since I'm sure this whole issue will come up again.

Interesting research! I think this kind of applies to the jurors of the KC case as well as they found her not guilty without carefully examining even a SINGLE piece of evidence! I think they pretty much had their minds made up right at the start. It still makes my stomach burn! :banghead::banghead:

There are those who still support Scott Peterson, KC and now JA. What to say of Mr. Foreman who after seeing the way JA slaughtered poor Travis and showed ZERO remorse was still interested in meeting her! :scared: Criminals always have their fans and supporters. Oh well, Einstein did say human stupidity is infinite. :scared:

What's everyone doing this weekend? Any plans and what's to eat? :floorlaugh:

I've been puttering in the yard- lots of weeds to pull and roses to prune (some roses have died over the Winter :(). It's a beautiful, clear, and sunny day- with cool breezes.

I have no plans for Monday- no barbecuing for me, as my younger son doesn't like his meat "burnt". :( (He's a very picky eater and that can be a pain ).

I'll probably make chicken cutlets with a salad and the inevitable, garlic bread (I swear, I'm going to turn into a piece of garlic bread :floorlaugh:.. my son wants it all the time).

Pizza tonight, as I'm sick of cooking (and sometimes, sick of eating, too).

So, what's up with you guys???

Well yes/no, I was trying to decide if I should jet to Europe for the Kim k and k west wedding but decided to be lazy and sit my recliner. Time to go play ball with Becky.

Oh- you received your invite to the wedding??? :floorlaugh: Mine hasn't come yet :floorlaugh::floorlaugh:- make sure you send them a beautiful gift- I heard she has a wedding register at Bergdoft Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue department stores..:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

Throw a ball to Becky from me. :seeya:

Bernina, glad you checked in. 27 miles doesn't seem very far away. Please be careful and safe.

No special plans for the weekend. Probably go to the small parade in town (a few blocks to walk) and then cook burgers and baked beans here.

Well, it's raining- while I was out, the wind picked up and the dark clouds came swirling in. But the pizza was here!!!! :)

Wanna piece? :floorlaugh:

I don't really have anything planned (I'll be skipping the Kardashian wedding, thanks) but I am trying to solve one of life's great mysteries.

It's been a beautiful day here in Maryland, low '70s, blue sky, white puffy clouds, light breeze. I've been sitting on my deck just enjoying the gorgeousness while my dog is . . . . inside sleeping on the couch. Why exactly?!

I'm going to be working on one or both of the properties!!!!:scared:
Might take a break and make tortillas and fried ice cream with my son and his GF. You kids are a BAD influence!:floorlaugh:

Love fried ice cream...is it really fried? Still lots of rain in Colorado...flood warnings! We are either burned to the ground or flooded off the ground!
Just thought of that...clever?

My real name is Becky and don't feel like playing ball. :floorlaugh:
