I seem to remember something.
Didn't she say that she had those weapons because she was going on a camping trip with some men?

The rental car co found "a" gun- a month later (according to this transcript).

I don't know where we can read more about it. This always bugged me so much as to why this wasn't brought up by JM!!!!

I believe the judge ruled against it, though I can't remember why. Though, I don't understand. Sounds like pertinent information to me.

ETA: oh, yes you're right. Maybe they did bring it up and I forgot!

Does anyone remember this episode of NG- where they were talking about the gun and knives found in her "escape' car that was rented? I always wondered why JM didn't/couldn't bring this up in court (and say that she is still a menace to society- part of the mitigation baloney that DA's spout- "no future danger :blah::blah:). Does anyone have the police incident report?

"..The next day, they found a brand-new shiny rental car outside of the grandparents` house. They subsequently arrested Jodi, executed a search warrant, and found in that rental car boxes of books of Jodi Arias`s. Intermingled amongst the books were two knives. In her suitcase was a box of .9-millimeter bullets, no gun.

Less than a month later, her mother was inquiring where the gun was that Jodi had hidden in the rental car. They traced the rental car at that point to San Francisco, California, and they found hidden in that car a .9- millimeter gun...."

YorN, I don't trust too many media gossip sources, so it's difficult to know whether or not this info. is true. I would not doubt it, and I know from watching an interview of JA's father that she was on her way out of town when she was arrested, and I'm a skeptic in this situation. I don't doubt that she had the 9 mm with her when she planned to flee (she had bought it and there is a record), but there is only speculation about where it was found, etc., possibly because this information was not admitted in court.

I thought it was known information that they found the gun in the engine of the car?

That's right. Dishwasher from the Purple Plum... It's hazy but it's sort of seeping back from the brain fog now... She was afraid of guns, but IF she were to kill someone she would use a gun because it's more humane, but she was the only girl camping with men she didn't know very well so she better be safe.

ETA: Ah, okay, I Googled it and found a blog that jogged my memory. They did know about the gun from the search of her grandparent's house. I did not remember that it was ever found, or where.

I just viewed the video that was posted above and there is just NO WAY anyone could find it offensive, let alone consider it some type of misconduct on the part of either prosecutor or detective, or anyone associated with them. This cannot be the video that has them all up in arms.

Anyone seen the vid that has them all worked up? Or any video that points toward misconduct?

OT: Klaus Kids is helping organize a search in Maryland tomorrow for the 2 small Hoggle children. WS has been asked to help with donations of food and water, if possible. Tricia has posted a thread about this. She called Dominos and they gave her a deal and I duplicated it. 400 searchers will be out in the cold rain tomorrow all day.

If any of you kind souls care to donate by calling Dominos or one of the places listed in the thread to order food for tomorrow, I know they would be very grateful. Xo

Yes, she was going panning for gold? with six men that she doesn't know. Only name she could come up was Calvin. She armed herself and it seems she wasn't going to have a problem in killing another human being.

That is the YTube. See the motion that Nurmi/Wilmott wrote- has the description of the video:

Isn't this a different gun? The one from the gp house was the one used in the murder and never found and I believe it was not allowed to be discussed in court. The one supposedly found hidden in the rental car engine compartment was a 9mm and I think it was brought up at trial--she said she had that gun for safety during an upcoming camping trip where she would be the only female in a group of men. Two different guns in this case, I think.

Yes that's right. Two knives. Gun hidden in engine, taped to it guessing JSS found it too inflammatory. JA said she was going camping. We figured she was on her way to her next kill then to Mexico.
Weapon used on Travis was a 25. Gun hidden in rental car was a 9mm.

Another article from reallybigmeandog , but not about missy :jail: and the trial.

She's normally very funny (but I wish she wouldn't use so much foul language- I would post them here but for that- was able to post just one with only a couple of bad words).

Sounds like she a real DV survivor, IMO:

Yes, two different guns, the one stolen from the grandparents house (and never found) was brought up during trial (see link below for refresher), the one taped to the 2nd rental car was not, nor were the knives hidden in the books of that rental car when it appeared during surveillance that she was planning to take off and was arrested.

Men she didn't really know, and no other women on the trip. Because that sounds like absolutely, completely normal behavior. Heck, when I'm the only woman on a camping trip with men I don't know, I always bring weapons. Not a lot of weapons, but, you know, some. So why are people making such a big deal about this gun? Do people honestly expect her to go camping with strange men unarmed? What if they try something?

Honestly, I think Jodi's losing her touch. A lie needs to at least plausible in order for anyone to believe it. She also told Det. Flores that one of her New Year's resolutions the year she killed Travis was to get over her fear of guns. And to go sky diving. La di da di da. No big deal.

When he asks her what she did with her grandfather's gun after shooting Travis, she says "I don't have a gun." Then at one point he leaves and comes back in, she sees his gun and asks him what kind it is. He tells her it's a Glock, she says she just bought a gun, then adds "I was taking it somewhere."

eta: oops, this has already been covered.

I hadn't heard the Mexico idea before. Her knowledge of Spanish would have come in handy!

eta: I wonder if her family has any connections down there.

I was lying in bed, watching The Golden Girls and thinking about OJ and it dawned on me why you said you couldn't "post the joy" in OJ.
What a dumb-dumb I am sometimes.
I'm sorry that I did- I shouldn't have. I can't "edit' it now or I would. :iamashamed:

She had nothing to work with though, aside from some kind of misplaced ideology or state-appointed task as a criminal defense attorney. Her cross examinations of Dr. Horn and Janeen DeMarte, Ph.D., were comedy as a result. She must realize this.

She really just couldn't compete with professional competence. During her feeble cross with Dr. DeMarte, I felt like I was watching an instructional video about how to handle hysterical and/or delusional patients in a clinical setting. Willmott was bouncing off the walls and spouting gibberish. DeMarte was just doing what she was trained to do. Love love love this quotation from the highly recommended blog Eggtree News:

"Sometimes after listening to Jenny’s questions, DeMarte looks like she’s thinking, 'Which one of us is stoned right now?'"
