OH Zuri I;m so sorry you have had your integrity questioned. I know there will come a time, that only you will know , when it's time, and we'll be here.

I haven't heard any bickering and backstabbing about your care of Knox.

Everyone on this thread was so incredibly wonderful and supportive and truly knew my heart.... if you get my drift. Thank you all again for seeing me through such a rough time. Xoxo

My Little Bubby didn't make it...we are devastated over losing him!!

Oh no CJ. I am so so sorry for your loss. I am just catching up and I had been sending Jingles up for him and hugs for you. Thinking of you xoxo

Dmacky, my heart is broken for you about Macky. I am glad that you were finally able to write about it and I do hope you can gain some solace in knowing how much we care, love and adore you and are sending comforting thoughts your way.

I agree with you that even anti-depressants can't take away grief. It is a process we all go through at some point in our lives, and hopefully the grief we experience causes us to be better, kinder, more thoughtful people as we all walk in those shoes.

To know the joy and love of an animal is truly a blessing we as humans get the privilege of experiencing. Their paw prints stay forever on our hearts. Xoxo

For those of you whose dogs have skin problems, I have found a wonderful product that is used on horses and is safe for dogs. It heals hot spots and problem skin really quickly.

http://shapleys.com/products-2/original-mtg-2/

This works wonders and I use it on my German Shepherds as well as my horses. Zuri has a skin allergy to chicken, which is common in a lot of dogs. The vet recommended dark meat food so she gets Natural Balance Duck, Buffalo, Rabbit and Lamb dry food as it has enough protein ~22%, but does not give her gas which the higher protein foods did.

The Shapley's MTG is a God Send as it clears up the hot spots and itching almost immediately and promotes hair regrowth. You use it sparingly and just leave it in. It does not have to be washed out between applications. It negates having to use Keflex (antibiotic) and Hydroxyzine (anti-itch) which was the routine treatment I had used prior.

You can get it online at Amazon, Dover Saddlery, Valley Vet, Smart Pak or at any local tack shop. It runs about $20 for a large bottle, but smaller bottles are available I think. It also smells like Bacon lol. HTH for those of you with animals with sensitive skin. It is definitely worth a try IMOO.

Has anyone ever wanted to smack a grown child of yours right upside their head?!

Our DD decided she would come over and have an 'intervention' with us over spending money!!!! After all, we are on a 'fixed income'!
She thinks we should NOT be spending money since we are on SS now. She went on and on about how we a month ago we bought a new top of the line Ford Escape, pulled the carpets up in the bedrooms and laid that new fancy flooring, bought a new French Door fridge just yesterday, and NOW we are talking about buying that expensive Yorkie dog!! She was thinking we should cut up our credit cards...I was seeing RED.

Well DH looked at her and let her have it...how he had worked 44 years with the same company and has a damn good pension coming in, how we had planned on retirement and made plans for doing what we are doing (minus the dog buying). That she did not have a clue how much or how little money we had. He pointed out that we did not owe on anything, house been paid off for 7 years now, fridge was over 20 years old and it was none of her damn business what we did or didn't do! Plus, where was it a law that we would leave any money behind when we died. She was totally in shock when he finished with her LOL. Her Dad has never 'gone off' on her before, I was the 'heavy'.

I'm still ticked off at her and the other kids thinking we have gone on a big buying binge we would be in the poor house soon. KIDS!! they are worse when the grow up!

And this too shall pass.....

I remember going through an especially rough patch financially. My young daughter (well-intentionedly) told me I should set aside a certain portion of my pay and put it in a savings account. This was while I was feeding my kids real food, but myself subsisting on leftover pasta and buying my clothes from the thrift store...

Now, they (DD and SIL) live on 90K and can't make ends meet...

ETA

And, they live with me in my house, only recently (and reluctantly) paying me rent... SMH

I knew this was going to happen. August in DC is as close to heaven as it gets here. Congress (and all their staffs) + lobbyists leave town; school is out, and all is right with the world. You'd almost think this would be a nice city to live in. Then, as soon as schools start up (which was Monday, here), the madness begins again.

My "quickie" 6.5 mile commute took over an hour this morning. The road rage was palpable. I am normally a very calm and courteous driver (yes, I'll let you cut in front of me *wave*), but days like today really stress me out and challenge my equanimity.

Oh wait, look -- I'm not imagining things:

You are in the same spot like many of us. Anna tells me and her daddy that we should save what we paid for our mortgage before the house was paid off. This is when Anna moved back home and tells her daddy that she doesn't like to shop with him when he puts her things separate from ours and has to pay for them.. I've told our son that the house will go to him and he is to make a home for his sister, Anna, and his son, our grandson. There is money to pay the utilities, insurance and taxes and maintenance each year. He can live there if he wants, there is more than enough room inside and out. He'll have all of his daddy's tools. A two car garage with a full loft, wellhouse and shed and garden shed full of toolchest and tools, seven chainsaws, thirteen weed eaters four riding lawnmowers and seven regular ones. And a planner. Who in the world needs or uses a planner that much to own one?

:jawdrop: How dare you all spend any of her inheritance on anything for your home!
We all know Mr. Coffeejunkie worked 44 years of his life to make a nice little nest egg for your kids :giggle: And here you go buying a new fridge that was only 20 years old! And then you had the nerve to replace old carpet? I do hope you did as she requested and cut up your credit cards. :giggle: What is wrong with our adult children these days? They just ASSUME they are entitled to everything! SMH

Congrats, Coffee to you and your DH!!!! IMO you did exactly what you had to do. I'd so much appreciate if my parents had the same attitude. They too, have been working so hard all their lives and today I would say the live comfotably but still modestly. I constantly try to encourage them to be generous with themselves and not to think about what they would leave for us (4 children). But I hardly succeed.
So I decided that whenever I hear a wish (not easy for them to express a wish) or when I observe they could make good use of this or that, I'll offer it to them.
I can't help but doing all I can to take good care of them, make them happy, bring surprises as I feel so much gratitude for being alive thanks to them.

Enjoy your life, Coffee & DH and encourage your children to enjoy THEIR lives. :-)))

Susza You so sweet! You have a very good heart to think about your parents in such a caring way. We should all be so lucky.

Dmacky, we must plan a road trip together :) :) (if my kids will let me hahaha)...
Well tell your daughter that I will be pitching in on the gas money, then maybe she'll let you go
That really would be fun. I must admit I do have a phobia of bridges these days. I have never been real fond of them, even as a child I remember closing my eyes as we drove over one. As a teen and younger adult, I didn't love them...but I traveled to Indiana quite frequently. I always took my girls to Santa Claus Land (now called) Holiday World every summer, to Hubers every Oct. to get pumpkins and a hayride. And then again every December.

For at least 10 years in a row I would take a week of my vacation the first week of every November and do ALL my Christmas shopping at the Green Tree and Riverside Malls. There were other stores right there close such as K mart, Value city and I can't remember the name of the big Drugstore (?) there by Value City, but they had very nice things. Leather wallets etc.... I would leave at 8 am. and shop until they closed. BUT ~ I always finished it all up in one day! I had all the stores to myself as most people were working. I hate crowds when I shop...I hate to even shop now.

We would go to Caesars Casino (now called Horseshoe Southern Indiana) several times a year. So, although I was always leery of bridges, I still traveled over them with no problem. BUT NOT ANYMORE...

My sister used to live in Minnesota years ago before they moved back here to Kentucky. They remained close to a couple that used to live next door to them. They still visit each other twice a year. The other couple comes here in the winter, and my sister and BIL go there in the summer. In 2007 the other couple's husband picked them up at the airport, and they had just crossed over the bridge before it collapsed. :scared: Missed it by one minute!!
I have not been on a bridge since.

I remember that bridge collapse in Minnesota. WOW That was a really close call Dmacky and glad they made it over. That was a really huge bridge and when it fell it was terrible.

They kind of creep me out too going over any bridge. Especiallly the really long ones like in Florida or Cape Hatteras area or Norfolk area where they go over huge spans of water.

It really made me mad when the government had all that money some years ago and they wanted to spend it to jump start economy and gave it to Banks instead of spending it on infrastructure to fix our roads and bridges.

The banks took it and gave bonuses to their managers and its all gone. If our government would have just setup infratstructure projects, it would have put people to work and the end result would have been great roads and bridges for all our people. We would have had something to show for it and people may have kept those new jobs.

Lazy Girl Cleaning

Run a lint roller over lampshades, mantles, and shelves to dust and vacuum all at once.

Spray furniture polish on anything to make it shiny.
Give your fridge (or your coffee table, or your dresser) some gold star treatment by doing practically nothing. But don’t spray your floor. You will probably fall!

Line your toaster tray with foil before toasting anything.

Avoid using cups and bowls…When you can, eat things out of their original containers.

Use tape to pick up crumbs.

Use liquid shower gel (not soap) to avoid soap scum buildup in your tub.
“The fats and oils in soaps create problems with soap scum,” Lynn Marie Bower tells Housekeeping Channel. But since body wash is technically a detergent, it’s specifically formulated to prevent gross crud from caking up in the shower.

Blend soap and water to clean a blender.

Use plastic food wrap to make clean-up easy.

Clean your microwave and your sponge all at once.
Microwave a damp sponge on high to kill the bacteria hiding in all its nooks and crannies. The steamy vapors will help clean stuck-on nastiness. Using an oven mitt, wipe the sides of the microwave with the sponge.

Tape a dryer sheet over an air conditioner vent to freshen up the room.

Clean greasy gas burners in a sealed plastic bag with ammonia.
Pick up burners. Put burners in bags with 1/4 cup of ammonia. Seal bags. Let sit overnight. Wipe burners with sponge.

Soak a non-toxic and biodegradable dryer sheet in a pan to remove baked-on food.

Girlfriend! we must be related!! :) I hate bridges myself! It's bad enough when I go over the Indiana/Kentucky Ohio River Bridge get into Henderson KY (ops! there's that KY again) ;) and the Louisville Bridge over the Ohio is downright scary!!

Years ago, DH and my parents went on vacation to Myrtle Beach and we decided drive down to see the Naval Base. We went the back way and I was driving. All of a sudden there was this giant bridge spanning over the ocean set high in the sky...tiny ships in the water below us. I honestly slammed on my brakes. My Dad started yelling, GO! GO! GO! YOU trying get us killed?! Did not have a choice...I slowly moved forward and told my MOM that if she believed in the power of prayer... NOW was the time start praying! We made it, but as soon as I could pulled over I did and jumped out of that car and took and nerve pill. LOL

We will be quite a pair trying cross into IN & KY hahaha :)

Cut up our CC? RIGHT!! We did one better than that we gave them to her along with our debit cards, check book, 401K account and our savings. How's that for being a 'good parent'?! :hilarious: :laughcry:
