So...............where were you on 9/11?

I had just gotten back from taking my son to the bus stop, had switched on CourtTv, and got a call from my neighbor to switch on CNN. Before I could do that, CourtTV switched to "live" coverage of the Towers.
I could swear, it sounded as though thousands of screams went off in my head when the 2nd plane hit.

Where were you?

I just wanted to stop in and let you all know I have been thinking of you. To those whose memories of 9/11 still bring heartbreak, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I hope everyone with medical issues are hopefully getting better soon. I think of you and send healing prayers up.

I am embroiled in one huge mess at my house. I opened my son's room that has been closed for over 2 years as it brought back such a painful time. I have found more stuff in there, just what I need. I have washed all his clothes and boxed them up to send to Florida. It feels good to be taking my life back. It is going to take months to get my house where it should have been years ago, but at least I am finding the beautiful things I have collected over the years. I have an extensive collection of equine artwork and it has brought such joy to clean the frames and admire them all over again.

After all of CJ's tips, I have used vinegar, cream of tarter, deodorant, etc on everything. My DH is ready to have me committed. I am tackling my father's belongings along with everything else that have been sitting in boxes for the past 5 years. Sadness and joy is a strange mixture.

My daughter came home for 4 days from Chicago to pack up some of her belongings for colder weather and her visit was such a delight. She was like a different person, so I am hopeful she is on the right path and figuring her life out. She was so positive and fun to be around. Miracles do happen! Xoxo

9-11...I was reading the local news on line and had CNN on the TV when I heard the news...I was in shock! I started praying for our Country and Mankind. Was a very emotional day. It still effects me in ways...the senseless of it all and all those who gave their lives...May God keep them close and Bless the families.

9-11 I was home with Court TV on and saw the news. Friends of mine were in the air headed for Seattle and were coming back. I called their family in Seattle, waking them up telling them to turn on the news.

Oh, noooo - and I was worried wether I choose the right translation. Fortunately you read it with the right eyes...
So, what do I have to say: "gives me the goosebumps"???

Please know sweet Susza that I meant no harm. I love that you are from another Country, as it is fascinating to me that people from all around the world would know about this trial. (not going to say her name)
If I hurt your feelings, I am very, very sorry. It truly was not my intention. I actually thought it was sweet, although funny to me. I just have that kind of personality, I guess. Now I wished I would have just left it alone. But since I didn't, yes goosebumps.

I'm just so happy that you are part of our little group here. :loveyou:

NO PROBLEM at all, Dmacky. I absolutely agree that these kind of translation errors can be very funny! And I appreciate you mentioned it as this allowed me to learn.:)

Off to watch tennis. I didn't know Halep and find she is a powerful and very smart player.

Hi all, I too am thinking of 9/11, in fact I have all week long. This is a sadness that will never go away.
How can one forget the horror of it all. Those poor people. I watch the news yes but I am not "up" on politics , never have been. I guess some (not here) are ruffled because our Country hasn't taken In more refugees. I am afraid of this , a perfect chance for the wicked evil ones to sneak in and harm our Country again.
On a different note my grt.grandson was in the hospital .. Juan has eczema which became severe almost overnight. He was placed on a lot of meds most creams. They did a "bodywrap" on him twice. Amy stayed all night with him. We were worried about infection. HE came home yesterday.. Our luck continues to flow..I do Thank God it is under control. :seeya:

[h=3]Police question man in freeway shootings[/h]
Police swarmed a convenience store near Interstate 10 in Phoenix, detained a man and woman and seized their white Chevrolet Tahoe on Friday, raising hopes of a resolution to the freeway shootings rattling Phoenix for the past two weeks. The man and woman had been together, but Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Bart Graves said only the man is currently of interest to investigators seeking anyone responsible for 11 vehicle shootings in Phoenix.

Longtime residents still remember the random shootings that terrorized Phoenix a decade ago. Nearly 30 people were shot then, and eight killed, including a cyclist who was riding down the street and a man who was sleeping at a bus stop. Two men were eventually caught and convicted.

I want to share what my daughter posted on her FB page She is really taking it hard about her DH cousin's suicide...

This week has been National Suicide Prevention Week.

For 10 years, I was the director of United Way 2-1-1. It's an information and referral line that helps people find resources for a variety of health and human services needs (food, financial assistance, crisis intervention, domestic violence, holiday assistance, etc). All calls to 2-1-1 a free and confidential. During my ten years, I've answered thousands of calls. Some funny, some heartbreaking and some calls, never leave me, like the one below (info has been changed to protect callers identity).

One day, I answered the phones and a woman started talking about everything going on with her life and she had made the decision to die by suicide. As we are talking, she explains everything she has done to make the death easier for her family- funeral already planned and paid for, checking savings accounts closed and money on the table, pets were given away to new homes, her daughters were with their dad (she didn't want them to find her), ect. She had thought of everything and prepared for it.

I knew I had to find something to keep her alive. I asked her how she planned on dying. She said she was going to hang herself. She had enough rope and had already picked the location to do it. She then mentioned she went to the library and checked out some books about suicide and how to tie knots.
I asked her where the library books were. She said on the table. My reply was, if you die, who is going to return your library books? I can't imagine your family is going to be concerned about returning the books while they are dealing with the grief and shock of you dying. I'm certain you don't want them to have to deal with late fees. Silence.

She started crying and said I didn't think of that. Then she said, I don't want to die. Please help me.

I dialed 9-1-1 and then did a three way phone call with them. The 9-1-1 dispatcher and I stayed on the phone till helped arrived at her house.

The people of Saudi Arabia must really be grieving........the death toll from the crane collapse in Mecca has gone to 87 dead and over 200 hundred injured.
The images coming from there are so sad.......

Many times, a suicidal person, just given a task, making a promise, or a small responsibility can change the direction of someone who's lost all hope. It's pretty strange, been there, done that. "Who will take care of your pet?" "Who is going to find you?" "Where will your children go?"
Pretty strange, but it works a lot of the time. No one really WANTS to die when they call a hotline, crisis manager, or therapists. They're looking for that one thing that can stop them.
People who DO commit suicide rarely talk to anyone.
JMO.

I was getting putting my grand daughters hair in braids and watching the morning news, before I took her to pre school . Anna called and asked if I wanted her to go get my grandson from school, She said many parents were there checking their kids out too. We just sat and watched the second plane hit the towers, and cried for America.

When all air travel ceased after 9/11, there was this peaceful quiet, even out here where it IS peacefully quiet, it was even more so.
It's really hard to explain. But it was different. The animals and birds were quiet, like they knew something had shifted the balance of the world, humanity, evil.
At night, all you saw was stars....just stars. No light from planes thousands of feet above going across the sky. I'd lie out there on the hay bales and think, "This is what it must have been like when settlers moved West."
I'd come in and CNN would be on, and the emergency rooms would still be waiting for survivors.
And they'd wait.
And we'd hope.
And no ambulances came.
