Just popped in here to see if you guys were discussing Kirk L Nurmi's book being published and sold today- I kid you not- Trapped With Jodi Arias
You can find the link on his Twitter feed or go to the other thread. I am on my phone so I can't cut and paste right now!

Checking here for the same reason......

Hi Zuri , was it the "Frugal Gourmet" ? My son (when married) loved to watch that show. Joe wasn't into cooking but really liked the program..gave him ideas for quick meals. I used to love "I can See Clearly Now" but now it makes me cry , memories...Take care.

Thanks Nore. You got me thinking after I googled your recommendation.
I just figured out who it was finally. The show was "60 Minute Gourmet" with Pierre Franey and it was on PBS on Saturdays in the 1990's. He was friends with Daniel Baloud and Jacques Pepin and died in 1996. I have been trying to remember his name forever. Thank you for the prompt!

Morning!

I too get my Christmas tree at Home Depot, as their prices are much better than the Christmas tree lots around here! And probably will get it the first weekend of December and start decorating.

Here's the link to Nurmi's book:

Have to check my library to "see" if they are going to have Juan's book - what's name again?? :D

We had rain throughout the night - and now the air smells SO fresh! Awwwww......

Didn't get to read my thread yesterday, as I read somewhere - here ? maybe - about Michael Connelly's books made into a TV program on Amazon and starting the second season on his books. And since I don't have Amazon - the Huz downloaded the first season for my!! :happydance: So I watch 5 episodes yesterday - took me all afternoon! And today will watch the rest (10 all together). I did notice that they combine all his books into the episodes; like in the first episode he already has his daughter in them at about 12 or 13 years old... But my description of "Harry Bosch" was completed different from who plays him! Oh well!

But first I need to do the dishes... ACK!! LOL!

Later everyone!
Hope you all have a GOOD day!! And hope to hear and "see" pictures of our new neice - baby horse!!
:seeya:

Baby pic, lol!

I had no idea they sold Chritmas trees. Then again, I didn't know Costco sold Christmas trees either. All these years we have paid a premium for the same trees. I like Frazier firs. Do they have them there?

Pretty sure they do, they have all varieties. Unfortunately, they don't have them in stock yet, so can't confirm...

LOL! I see this has already been mentioned.......you'd think Nurmi was trying to retire from legal practice with all the money he's made, and hopes to make.

Not going to pay for this, I'll wait til Amazon Unlimited marks it down to "Free".:truce:

Bernina , Zubaz is adorable!! Oh sooooo pretty ! You can be proud of your beautiful well cared for horses. :loveyou:

----------
P.S. on book , no way would I pay for 3 books! Now if it were JM. 3 people here could each get one and report how dull it is..

Well, I can see why they didn't last for long. After awhile all the songs start sounding alike. After the Monkees became a hit , many actor's sons had a band.

Bernina, Such a beautiful baby, and I like the name you chose. Little substance is a beautiful color. Do you think he will keep the red?

I am with you on the book by Nurmi! $16 and this is only the first of three parts?!? Juan's book, Conviction, was only $12. if Nurmi's writing style was anythin like his courtroom demeanor, I doubt it would hold my interest anyway. Wonder if a certain inmate will file something to hold that book release up?

I have a new message this morning for my pre-order of Juan's book. The NEW release date has been changed again to February 16. :tantrum:

Isn't Zubaz her daddy's name? So as to not confuse them, Zuri will call her Zella.

If I translated it right, "corto calcetin" means short-socks. Maybe we can call him (her?) Zoxx.

I have had so much trouble opening this thread today. It keeps hanging and closing. I notice sometimes (if it loads more than the first post on the page) that the pics and videos load first and then it "might" start opening actual words .... but crashes before it gets to the end. So frustrating.

I don't know how different it is between here and Delaware, but I buy my trees at Home Depot; if you go early enough you have a pretty good selection. Depending on the type of tree, it could be as little as $20-$30. Not the same kind of fun/romantic/nostalgia-invoking experience, but it works for me!

That is a good price on a tree.

We used to go to a tree farm where they purposely grew them in rows just for Christmas trees and we would cut one fresh and it was really neat and fun. I didn't feel bad about cutting the tree since the only purpose of the farm is for christmas trees.

They were a little expensive but the smell of them were really nice. You just have to be sure to keep the bottom in water right after you cut it before the pores close up.
To prevent having to rush what we did was just cut an extra inch or so off the bottom right as we were putting it up. That way the bottom got fresh pores for the water.

You can always tell if your tree is doing good by how much water it drinks. It is amazing how much water they take down when fresh cut like that. The first day I would have to wake up in middle of night just to water the tree more so it wouldn't dry up. After a couple days it slows down and then just water once a day.

The reason I am mentioning the fresh trees is I miss them. About 3 years ago wife talked me into buying an artificial from QVC that has the lights already mounted to the tree.
We are a little disappointed in going that route. It does look nice and its a little easier to setup each year by just going to the attic to get it.

But the lights on it went out and its impossible to find which bulbs are bad. And you cant get the old lights off the tree because they are sewed into the limbs. So we just string regular lights on top of the lights that dont work. LOL

And the thing is very heavy trying to haul down from attic. They weigh a lot.

All in All it works out ok but I do miss the real smell of a real tree. The real trees give off a natural air freshener of pine smell for the first month or so and I do miss that.

I suppose its whatever people prefer. Im at the point where I want to leave the fake tree in the attic and get a fresh one this year for a change.

But yea, i too am not ready for the holidays quite yet. QVC got me burned out already by having their Christmas sales on stuff for about a month now. LOL
It seems QVC starts earlier and earlier each year.

We tend to watch QVC like an entertainment show without actually buying stuff. But it is dangerous viewing because they sometimes talk us into buying something that we needed like a hole in the head. LOL

Like our "Slice-O-matic" slicer/dicer/chopper/chipper thingamabob. It sits on the counter and whenever we need to slice something up we do like normal folks and grab a sharp knife instead because we can never figure out how to use the fancy thing. And who wants to clean those devices anyway. LOL

Hatfield, I am with you on the QVC thing. I will turn on the channel to use it as white noise if I can't sleep. I will buy things from them when there are things I need on Easy Pay. I got an artificial tree from them too that I used in the living room and a live tree in the family room. I burned a Yankee Candle that had the pine smell in that room to cheat.

I really love live trees and I started buying ornaments in 3's after my third child was born so my children would have an ornament collection when they went out on their own. My tree is full of snowmen, elves and Santas along with all kinds of other ornaments. I load it up lol which should come as no surprise to anyone.

I used to put out the Department 56 "North Pole Village" as I collected pieces all through my children's' childhood. They loved it when they were younger. Now, they couldn't be bothered. Eventually, I will put it out again just for me.

Niner, how is your DH and how is he feeling? Did he have his PET scan and CT scan yet? Has he started his chemo yet? And how are you holding up?

I think of you every single day and send hugs through the Universe.
