Wonder what mode of transportation he used to get there

There's a subway station right there by the AirBnb.

Moo...wonder what the street lighting is like at nite. There are green space parks nearby. Lots of isolated places close by.....moo

This is a touristy area.

What I can tell you is when we were there last week and my oldest was toodling around in that area at night, he was offered drugs numerous times. Not sure if it’s his mustache or that he looks like a hipster, but in the area of Barceloneta Beach guys would walk past and gesture to him: hashish? MDMA? Ecstasy?

Not that it matters but your oldest was most likely offered fake drugs. It's a common tourist scam in most major big tourist cities.

Not surprising. I do think this will wind up being a tragic drunken accident.

But they do need to do their due dillegence in figuring out the circumstances.

Yeah, sadly when I saw he went missing near the sea front immediately thiugh of the University of Missouri student Riley Strain who drowned in Nashville i have a feeling this is similar.

It said that Criminal motive was ruled out but even under the influence you would not go into cold water on your own unless you were influenced by other people.

This bar/disco is famous for its cocktails. Sometimes a cocktail slips down so/too easily that it does not feel really alcoholic, but the mixture of say rum, vodka etc can hit you like a sledgehammer.

A cocktail is included in the entry fee.
Its not really the place to go and have a beer.

Awful that what should have been a great night on the beachfront ended like this

I had posted earlier that his parents were both there, but I was wrong. His mom’s passport was expired. She was obviously trying to get one expedited to get over there. I was praying that she would be there when he was found so she wouldn’t have to travel knowing the worst and that his dad wouldn’t be alone to receive the news. I’m not sure how it unfolded today. I’m gutted for them.

Just sad . . . we just have to keep reminding young folks about safety. I know the mom must be upset, I feel for the family.

Unless this means the unidentified lady is actually known by police but not identified in the news, I would hope she comes forward. She may be able to relay information of Jimmy's condition and state of mind, after they separated.

Chicagoan here. It's been such a heartbreaking week, besides the loss of this young man who had attended HS in Chicago, we are mourning a 32 year old fireman who died in the line of duty and this morning an 18 year old college student was shot in the head for no known reason, she was killed just a short distance away from the campus.

I can’t imagine this is as simple as it seems since he left the bar with someone possibly that young woman. There must be more info on how he ended up in the water. They just left him alive and well on the beach and took off alone? Something doesn’t seem right.

I believe they said he was seen on video from the bar leaving with a female that his friends said was American.

If you look at the Daily Mail article posted, they’ve red circled an isle that was covered with rocks. They think he walked out on it & possibly fell into the water.
